Unless otherwise noted,the following occurred within the city limits of Renton, county of King, state of
Washington.
On 07/20/2026, 1 was working as a uniformed police officer for the city of Renton.At approximately 1907
hours, I was dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at Discount Tire, 3123 NE 4th St. Portions of my
involvement in the incident were captured on my department-issued bodycam.Any statements referred to
have been paraphrased and summarized.
When I arrived on scene, I located the involved vehicles in the parking lot. I spoke to the driver of unit 1,who
advised he was attempting to turn westbound from the northernmost exit of the parking lot at Chevron, 3209
NE 4th St. He reported that the stoplight for east/westbound traffic was red, and traffic was backed up.As a
result, drivers in lane 1 and 2 of eastbound NE 4th St traffic stopped to let him merge. He proceeded through
lanes 1 and 2 and struck unit 2 head on as it approached the intersection in the shared left-turn lane.
I spoke to the driver of unit 2. He informed me that he was heading eastbound on NE 4th St in the shared left
turn lane, approaching the intersection at Monroe Ave NE.As he continued, he was struck by unit 1 as it
attempted to merge across eastbound traffic and turn west.
I observed vehicles had damages consistent with both parties' accounts.There was front-end damage to unit 1
and passenger side damage to unit 2. 1 captured photos of both vehicles and uploaded them to the case file via
AXON Capture.
I cited the driver of unit 1 for violation of RCW 46.61.205—FAIL YIELD PRIVATE RD MOTOR VEHICLE. I routed
the citation through the Renton Prosecuting Attorney's queue.
