EH22745 CASE# 26-5601 O OFF CbLL COLLOTINIEI510N 07/17/26 22:00 NARRATIVE 26-5601 At about 2204 hours on 07/17/2026 1 responded to a an accident with unknown injuries at 200 SW Grady Way near the Renton Kia dealership, in the city of Renton, King County, Washington. Initial call notes from dispatch said that "ACN FROM FORD VEH... WPH2 UNC/16, SHOWS ON ROAD IFO LOCATION, ON CALL BACK DRIVER SAID HIT A POLE, THEN STOPPED RESPONDING AND DISC." I arrived on scene and observed Renton Fire Authority (RFA) had already closed the eastbound lanes of travel on SW Grady Way. There was a highway signage pole in the center median that stretched across to the south side of SW Grady Way that was struck and now broken in the middle lying suspended across eastbound lanes of traffic. The top of the pole was resting in the center median of SW Grady Way. I did not initially observe any vehicle in the area that struck the pole, however RFA soon advised me that a license plate was discovered at the scene, and they observed a vehicle parked across the street at the Renton Kia dealership with its hazard lights on. I ran the plate (BSS7930/WA) which returned to a blue Ford Mustang. I then observed the Mustang to be the vehicle RFA was referring to, now parked at the Kia dealership. I approached the vehicle and observed heavy front end damage, along with damage to the undercarriage of the Ford. The front airbags were deployed and the vehicle was abandoned. The registered owner of the Ford returned as an Alfredo Cruz Chavez (09/09/86). Ofc. lurco contacted the security company that monitors the camers at Renton Kia. They stated they observed "10 AGO,BLU CONVERTIBLE LEFT ON PROP,DRIVER GOT INTO DARK COL 4DOOR SEDAN AND GOA BEHIND LOC,UNK IF EXITED PROP,L/S AT REAR OF PROP...DRIVER THAT GOT OUT OF CONVERTIBLE: HM,20-30,TH IN,DARK HAIR,WHI TSHIRT,DARK JEANS ... DRIVER OF DARK 4DOOR SEDAN L/UNK: UM,HVY,RED/BLU PATTERN TSHIRT,BLU SHORTS ... CALLER/DIANE/SEC." Ofc. lurco sent Renton Kia security an AXON community request link to upload footage of the Ford and it's driver parking into the lot and fleeing the scene. I observed a large portion of the blue Mustang left at the scene near the broken pole. I also observed an oil trail leading from the crash site all the way to the abandoned Ford parked in the Renton Kia lot, indicating the vehicle likely struck the pole in the center median and drove into the lot. Based on my training and experience it is my determination that the Ford was traveling eastbound on SW Grady Way when it traveled into the center median and struck the sign pole with the front end of the Ford. The Ford then drove off the roadway into the Renton Kia dealership where the driver fled the scene. This concludes my involvement with this case. During this incident, I was equipped with a body-worn camera, which records both audio and video. Portions of this incident were recorded. This report is merely a summary of the incident and is not intended to be an exact transcription of the entire investigation or what may have been captured with the recording system. I was operating a fully marked Police Tahoe which was equipped with overhead emergency lights and sirens.
