NARRATIVE
ROAD RAGE UNIT 1 BLK UNIT 2 SLV

Within the city limits of Renton/King/Wa I responded to a 2 vehicle crash near the 600 block of SW
Grady Way.
When I arrived I located one vehicle blocking the 2WCLTL and another in the parking lot of 607 SW
Grady Way. The driver of unit 2/still in the roadway said she remained in the roadway to avoid
conflict with unit 1. She eventually moved to the same lot.
Unit 2 told me this incident originally started in the city of Tukwila as a traffic dispute when she
observed unit 1 driving fast and darting in and out of traffic changing lanes etc. She told me that the
conflict took place in stopped traffic with middle fingers and some yelling. This erratic driving was still
being observed into the city of Renton eastbound on SW Grady Way. Unit 2 told me as traffic was
slowing that unit 1 swerved around her in the 2WCLTL and cut her off but contacted her vehicle. The
damage was minor to unit 2 and did not require a tow truck. She initially made no complaint of injury,
but later said she had tension in her back, maybe related.
I contacted the driver of unit 1 ID'd by his picture WADL. He told me both vehicles had engaged in a
minor road rage and that they exchanged words and middle fingers. He did not let it go and was
going the same way as unit 2. He told me that as traffic was slowing/stopping east on SW Grady
Way he was going to get back in front of unit 2 by cutting her off, first passing her in the 2WCLTL and
swerving in front of her. However, he said he made contact with unit 2. He had obvious damage
down the entire length of his car. He did not complain of injury and the damages did not require a tow
truck.
I cited unit 1 Ref RCW 46.61.525 Negligent Driving 2nd Degree via complaint. Negligent Driving in
the second degree, 1)(a) A person is guilty of negligent driving in the second degree if, under
circumstances not constituting negligent driving in the first degree, he or she operates a motor vehicle
in a manner that is both negligent and endangers or is likely to endanger any person or property.
Unit 1 did intentionally operate his vehicle in a dangerous/negligent manner that caused damage to
unit 2. He chose to use the 2WCLTL to pass unit 2 and then cut her off and contacting her vehicle
causing damage.
