Dear Valerie Porter:
Thank you for the opportunity to provide comments on the State Environmental Policy Act
(SEPA) notice of application utilizing the optional determination of nonsignificance (ODNS/NOA)
process for the MultiCare/Overlake Off Campus Emergency Department Renton project. Based
on review of the checklist associated with this project, the Department of Ecology (Ecology) has
the following comments:
Medical facilities commonly generate dangerous waste regulated in accordance with Chapter
173-303 Washington Administrative Code (WAC). Health care facilities may be subject to
additional requirements for management of dangerous waste pharmaceuticals. For more
information on dangerous waste regulations specific to health care facilities, check out
Ecology’s managing pharmaceutical waste webpage and Dangerous Waste Pharmaceuticals
Guide or contact Ecology’s Health Care Team via the online contact form.
Ecology has issued this location an EPA/State Identification Number (WAH000039663), which is
associated with the previous site operator. If the current operator needs assistance activating
or updating the contact information for this Identification Number, they may contact Ecology’s
