Officer Narrative
Narrative
On 7/31 at approximately 2003 hours, I was flagged down at the boat launch parking lot at Gene Coulon Beach
Park, located at 1201 Lake Washington Blvd N, in the City of Renton, County of King, State of Washington,
reference a non-injury collision that happened in the adjacent parking lot by the Kidd Valley restaurant.
I spoke with Driver#2, who stated that he had pulled his vehile into the west entrance and turned right down the
first lane of travel. That is designated as one way traffic heading northeast. Driver#2 was traveling the correct
direction. He stated Driver#1 was traveling the wrong way in the narrow lane. Driver#1, who was towing a boat
trailer behind his vehicle, motioned for Driver#2 to back up. Driver#2 backed up and Driver#1 tried to pull
around Vehicle#2. During this maneuver, the trailer attached to Vehicle#1 made contact with the front and rear
quarter panels of Vehicle#2, causing scraping damage. Driver#2 stated that his vehicle was stationary at the
time the collision occurred and he sounded his horn in an attempt to get Driver#1 to stop once he observed that
his vehicle was about to be struck.
I observed the damage to the front and rear quarter panels on the driver side of Vehicle#2 and they appeared
consistent with Driver#2's account.
Driver#1 confirmed that he was driving in the same location and had attempted to pull around Vehicle#2, but
stated that Vehicle#2 had not backed up enough for him.
I did not observe any damage to the trailer.
There were no injuries reported.
As this accident occurred within the parking lot, no citations were issued and information was exchanged.
Driver#1's actions appeared to have been the proximate cause of the collision.
