about the Tra�sif CenteT. She s�ared the conceptual plans and answered questions
from the Board regarding des�gn,traffic flow etc.
ANNOUNCEIWEMTS
Glenn Kost gav�e an update on U�e fire damage at Highlands Ne�ghbort►ood Center.
He e�lained in the upcoming w�eeks the "City�'w�oufd be deciding if we should
reb�ild and if we do rebuikl should we consider t'uture growth ar build the sarne
struciure we lasf. During the in#erim our r�ecrea#ion staff is trying to relocate e�asting
. prograrns.
Mr.Shepherd announced the upcoming fal�fifness extravaganza and soccer
chaqenge. He a[so irYforn�ed the Board Syfvia A[len, Recreation Director,wou�d be

Jim Shepherd rev�ewed a fetter wntter�by Alan Hayward relaying t�e posi#iv�e
e�erience he has had � last few year� �sir�g Gene Caulon Memorial Beach Park
for his annual picr�c_
OLD BUSINESS
At the Aug�s#meeting a [etter was reviewed identifying concems tha�Cou�on Park
was becoming mare like a cemetery that a park due to the Encreasir�g number of
memoria[s along the�lking path. This item�u+ra�de�erred until the September
mee#ing for further discussion_ Ai Dieckman, Pa�it Manager,so[icited neighbonng
ci�es for their palicies an donations and memona�s. Most cities do not hauoe a
�ormal'poficy in ef�ect as we do_ Staff did rxaf ha�ne a recommendation on making
any changes to #he cume�t policy_
There w�s discussior� abouf perhaps char�ging the memorial p[aques, or eliminating
the plaques aftagether_ tt was a�so notied cume�rtly tiiere is about 9� memor[als
curren�y in place. Af�er�urther discussion it was decided the Board felt thete was
not jus�iflable cause for changing the palicy cuRe�Iy_ Therefore,this letter did nat
n�ed ar�y action�ken on i�. tt was decided to monifor the number of inemarials
being pfaced at the paric in#� ne�year_ �t�e number greatiyr increases pemaps a
moratorium wou[d be put in pface at a later date_

Fee increases for the golf course and recrea�on was preserrted. Randy Leifer, Go�F
Co�r�e Manager,was present ta expfain the proposed increases ior tt� golf
caurse_ He presen�ed th,� neighbor�ng cii�r's rates for their courses, carts and
driving range charges_ O�proposed fees wit!stil[be campe�tive with othe�
courses in the area_ He atso mer�tioned updating � current scorecards and
poirrted aut if w�e co�d do the car+ds at na cost if w�e allow advweitising on th�em. He
had examples to illustrate a card with and without advertising_ Syhria Anen,
Recreation Direcfor, pr+ese�rted fee increase for�ie�d r+errtals, banquet rerital rates at
the community cerrter and Carco Theatre.

caurse score cards with adv�ertising_ The rnotion was secor�ded by Ran Regis_ A�I
