CALL TO ORDER
The September meeting was called to order by Chair, Ron Regis, at 5:OQ p.m.
APPROVAL QF MINUTES
Joan Moffatt made a mo#ion seconded by Marge Richter to approve the August minutes
as written. All were in fa�or, motion carried minutes appro�ed as written.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Sylvia Allen announced #he September 19, i 999, anni�ersary celebration of the Ser�ior
Activity Center.
CORRESPQNDENCE
Marilyn Isreal-Brozowski wrote a letter expressing her appreciation and compliments to
the City for their continued support of the teen musical program.
Valeri Muirhead wrote to thank the parks and recreation department for the Kids Craft
Fair.
CONSENT
Kimi 5higetani requested use of #he grassy area betw�en Carca Theatre and the
community center for �er wedding ceremony. She has the center reserved for her
reception. She has been informed of t�e park board rules and regulations and agreed
to abide by them. Final arrangements wi11 be coordinated with staff. Cynthia Bums
made a motion to approve the reques# as stated. All present were in fa�or, motion
carried.
North Renton Neighborhood Association requested wai�er of the shelter fee for Liberty
Park for their first annual neighborhood picnic on Sunday, September �9, 1999 from

1:04-6:00 P.M. They re�{uested use of a tent, extra garbage cans and chairs for in�ited
dignitaries. Staff is not a�ailable on Sundays to accommodat� these requests but will
make the items accessibie to the group. Joan Moffatt made a motion seconded by
Cynthia Bums to approve #he wai�er of the shelter fees and assist with the additional
items requested. All were in favor, motion carried.
OLD BUSINESS
Gle�n Kost, Capital Impro�Ements Manager, updated the Board members on current
construction projects. The Highlands Neighborhoad Center is estimated to be
completed by May 1, 2D00. The City had the groundbreaking for the Piazza this week
and expect a January 2000 completion date on that pr'oject, We are also working on the
Cedar R�ver Trail relocation project and Kiw�nis Park playground renovation.
Sylvia AElen, Recreation Director, summarized the recreation divisio�+ programs and
attendance for the summer.
OTHER
Leslie Betlach, Parks Director, in��ormed #he members that the project discussed at the
last meeting by Ste�e Rolle had been pulled back. The impacts were too great.
Joan Moffatt made an announcemen#tl�at she would miss the Oc#aber meeting.
Cynth�a Bums and Marge Ric�ter both attended the Ke�nydale Neighborhood
Ass�aciation picnic and commented on haw nice it was. They had good entertainme�t
and it was welf attended. Marge suggested next year ti�e Board may reconsider
aflowing amp�ification, the entertainme�t at the picnic was so good and couldn`t be
heard as well as if they had micrapfiones and speakers.
