Subject: RE: City of Renton LUA Acceptance: Solera Master Plan, LUA18-000490
Hi Matthew – King County Metro Transit staff reviewed the Solera Master Plan, LUA18-000490, and we
have the following comments.
The bus stop adjacent to the site (stop #45145) is likely to become a major RapidRide station and very
active bus stop generally. This will be due to the proposed intensive mixed use development as well as
the transfer opportunities to/from Route 111, and future routes 1075 (frequent), 2022 (express), and
3061 (local) planned to operate on this segment of Sunset in the 2025 MetroConnects network. The
overall site design of the project should incorporate and anticipate that future residents and other
visitors to the mixed use development would want access to/from this zone on the southbound/west
side of NE Sunset Blvd, as well as to cross Sunset to/from its northbound paired stop.
The adjacent bus stop, (stop #45145) is currently served by Routes 111 and 240. Route 240 is slated to
be upgraded to RapidRide (Route 1030), in the 2021-2022 timeframe. Metro would like the developer
to provide, at a minimum, shelter footings at the bus stop, and we would like to discuss the provision of
conduit in anticipation of the stop becoming a RapidRide station with real-time information signage and
associated lighting. Please have the developer contact David Korthals, 206-477-5776,
david.korthals@kingcounty.gov, or Josh Steiner, 206-263-5904, jsteiner@kingcounty.gov.
The developer will need to accommodate a stop or temporary zone throughout construction. Please
inform the project proponent that they need to contact Metro's Construction Information Center prior
to construction regarding construction-related coordination. Please note that we will need advance
notification per our Construction Notification Guidelines (minimum requirements).
Thank you very much!
