Renton's population is now 104,100, an increase of 1,400 from 2017. Renton ranks as the state's eighth largest city and the fourth largest city in King County. • The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is planning to test one of several cleanup options at the Quendall site around July 20th. The agency will test the Self - Sustaining Treatment for Active Remediation, or STAR, technology. STAR uses an underground thermal process that burns creosote contamination out of the soil. The test will determine the effectiveness of the STAR option prior to the release of the proposed cleanup plan for public review and comment. The EPA has told city staff that they have informed property owners around the Quendall site about the test. Preventative street maintenance, traffic impact projects, and road closures will be at the following locations: ✓ Monday, July 16th through Friday, July 20th, 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. North 4th Street will be reduced to two lanes between Garden Avenue North and Park Avenue North due to the construction of curbs and gutters for the new Sartori Elementary School. In addition, one to two eastbound lanes of North 3rd Street between North Park and North Garden Avenues will be closed for construction of curbs and gutters for Sartori Elementary. Questions may be directed to Patrick DeCaro at 425-207-6013. ✓ Monday, July 16th through Friday, July 20th, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The intersection of East Valley Road and SW 19th Street will be closed for the 1-405 Direct Connector Project. Questions may be directed to Justin Johnson at 425-430-7291. ✓ Monday, July 16th through Friday, July 20th, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Single lane closure along northbound Talbot Road South between the northbound 1-405 on - ramp and the southbound 1-405 off -ramp for the 1-405 Direct Connector Project. Questions may be directed to Justin Johnson at 425-430-7291. ✓ Monday, July 16th through Friday, July 20th, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Single lane closure along the Talbot Road South ramp to northbound 1-405 for the 1-405 Direct Connector Project. Questions may be directed to Justin Johnson at 425- 430-7291. ✓ Monday, July 16th through Friday, July 20th, 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Expect intermittent lane closures and traffic delays along Talbot Road South (SR 515) related to the 1-405/SR 167 Interchange Direct Connector Project. In addition, northbound and southbound nighttime lane restrictions and closures along SR 167 and 1-405 are also scheduled this week related to the project. The information outlines specific dates and times of the closure. Questions may be directed to Tom Main at 206-999-1833. ✓ Monday, July 16th through Friday, July 20th, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Potential single lane closure at the 1200 block of Lake Washington Boulevard due to utility construction. Questions may be directed to Brad Stocco at 206-282-2373. ✓ Monday, July 16th through Tuesday, July 24th. The lower west entrance to Renton City Hall from eastbound South Grady Way will be completely closed. The eastbound curb lane along Grady Avenue South will also be closed between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. between Williams Avenue South and Renton City Hall. Street maintenance crews will be removing and reinstalling damaged curb and Ed Prince, Council President Members of Renton City Council Page 3 of 3 July 16, 2018 gutter located at the entrance to City Hall. City Hall may be accessed using the entrance at Williams Avenue South (previously shared with Sam's Club) or the upper parking lot (lobby level) entrance located off of Benson Road South. Questions may be directed to Street Maintenance Supervisor John Kalmbach at 425-766-6183. ✓ Tuesday, July 17th through Thursday, August 2nd, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The southbound curb lane along Oakesdale Avenue SW between SW 16th Street and SW 27th Street will be closed weekly Tuesday through Thursday. Street maintenance crews will be conducting asphalt repairs. Questions may be directed to Street Maintenance Supervisor John Kalmbach at 425-766-6183. ✓ Monday, July 16th through Friday, August 24th. North 27th Place will be closed for the construction of the North 27th Place Bridge Scour Repair Project. Road closure on South 14th Street between Smithers Avenue South and Davis Avenue South for utility construction. Questions may be directed to Patrick DeCaro at 425-207-6013. ✓ Monday, July 16th through October 2019. The Renton Hill Utility Replacement Project is underway with anticipated completion in May 2019. Following completion of the utility project, an overlay of the affected surface streets will be conducted as part of the 2019 overlay project. The overlay is scheduled to be completed prior to October 31, 2019.
