• The Mayor's weekly newsletter was awarded first place in the nation for external
newsletters by the National Association of Government Communicators (NAGC).
The committee looked at submissions from all over the country and judged them on
purpose, goals, objectives, target audience, and special factors. To subscribe, visit

Learn how to respond to disasters. Renton CERT classes are taught by local subject
matter experts including firefighters, police officers, chaplains, emergency
managers, and medical professionals. Learn to extinguish fires, conduct search and
rescue, provide basic first aid, identify and respond to terrorism, assist professional
responders, reduce survivor stress, and prepare yourself and your community for
emergencies. Summer classes will take place August 23rd through 25th from 8:00
a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Register online with code 61514 or call 425-430-6700.
Information about preventative street maintenance, traffic impact projects, and
road closures happening this week can be found at
http://rentonwa.gov/trafficimpacts. Preventative street maintenance, traffic impact
projects, and road closures will be at the following locations:
✓ Monday, August 20th through Friday, August 24th, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Expect intermittent lane closures along SE Renton Issaquah Road and NE Sunset
Blvd between 144th Avenue SE and Union Avenue NE for preventative sewer line
maintenance. Flaggers will be on -site to assist with traffic flow. Questions may

✓ Monday, August 20th through Friday, August 24th, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Expect intermittent lane closures along South Puget Drive between Talbot Road
South and Edmonds Avenue SE for pavement crack sealing, and along 140th Way

SE between Maple Valley Highway (SR 169) and the Renton city limits. Questions

✓ Monday, August 20th through Friday, August 24th, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Potential lane closures on Park Avenue North between North 4th Street and
North 3rd Street due to grind and overlay of roadway for Sartori Elementary
School. Questions may be directed to Patrick DeCaro at 425-207-6013.
✓ Monday, August 20th through Friday, August 24th, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The
intersection of East Valley Road and SW 19th Street will be closed for the 1-405
Direct Connector Project. One lane of East Valley Road will remain open with
flaggers directing traffic through the work site. Questions may be directed to
Justin Johnson at 425-430-7291.
✓ Monday, August 20th to Tuesday, August 21st and Thursday, August 23rd to
Friday, August 24th, 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. East Valley Road will be reduced to
one lane between SW 19th Street and Taylor Ave SW for the 1-405 Direct
Connector Project. One lane of East Valley Road will remain open with flaggers
directing traffic through the work site. Questions may be directed to Justin

Single lane closure along northbound Talbot Road South between the
northbound 1-405 on -ramp and the southbound 1-405 off -ramp for the 1-405

Single lane closure along the Talbot Road South ramp to northbound 1-405 for

Expect intermittent lane closures and traffic delays along Talbot Road South (SR
515) related to the 1-405/SR 167 Interchange Direct Connector Project.
In addition, northbound and southbound nighttime lane restrictions and closures
along SR 167 and 1-405 are also scheduled this week related to the project. The
information outlines specific dates and times of the closure. Questions may be

Intermittent lane closures on Lake Washington Blvd between North 38th Street

closed for the construction of the North 27th Place Bridge Scour Repair Project.

✓ Friday, August 24th through Monday, August 27th. The intersection of East
Valley Road and SW 19th Street will be closed beginning at 8:30 p.m. Friday,
August 24th through 5:00 a.m. Monday, August 27th to accommodate the
installation of a fish passable culvert underneath SR 167 as part of the 1-405/SR

✓ Monday, August 20th through Monday, October 22nd. NE 31st Street will be
closed for the construction of the N E 31st Street Bridge Replacement Project.

✓ Monday, August 20th through December 2018. Road closure on South 14th
Street between Smithers Avenue South and Davis Avenue South for utility
construction. Questions may be directed to Patrick DeCaro at 425-207-6013.
✓ Monday, August 20th through October 2019. The Renton Hill Utility
Replacement Project is underway with anticipated completion in May 2019.
Following completion of the utility project, an overlay of the affected surface
streets will be conducted as part of the 2019 overlay project. The overlay is
scheduled to be completed prior to October 31, 2019.
