GENERAL NOTES
1. THE PROPOSED SEQUENCE OF CONSTRUCTION SHOWN ON THE CONSTRUCTION PHASING PLANS AND DETAILS
REPRESENTS ONE POSSIBLE SCHEME FOR PLANNING PURPOSES. CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT PROPOSED
CONSTRUCTION METHODS AND SEQUENCE TO THE ENGINEER FOR APPROVAL PRIOR TO THE START OF
CONSTRUCTION.
2. A MINIMUM OF FIVE FULLY OPERATIONAL AND ACCESSIBLE AIRCRAFT STAGING STALLS SHALL BE MAINTAINED WITHIN
THE PROJECT LIMITS AT ALL TIMES. CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN A 20-FOOT CLEAR -ZONE FROM AIRCRAFT IN
STAGING AREAS. CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE ALL ACTIVITIES ADJACENT TO STAGING AREAS WITH BOEING
REPRESENTATIVE.
3. HEIGHT RESTRICTED WORK ZONE MUST BE CLEARED OF ANY OBSTRUCTION ABOVE 7-FEET IN HEIGHT WITHIN WINGTIP
CLEARANCE LIMITS AND ANY OBSTRUCTION ABOVE 6-INCHES IN HEIGHT WITHIN ENGINE CLEARANCE ZONE FOR PLANE
MOVEMENTS. PLANE MOVEMENTS OCCUR A MINIMUM OF 2-TIMES DAILY. CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE PLANE
MOVEMENT TIMING AND ROUTE WITH BOEING REPRESENTATIVE DAILY.
4. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE A 25-FOOT MINIMUM WIDTH DRIVABLE SURFACE ALONG TEMPORARY TOWPATH. DRIVABLE
SURFACE SHALL BE WIDENED AS NEEDED TO ACCOMMODATE PLANE AND TOW VEHICLE MOVEMENTS ALONG TOWPATH
ROUTE. CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE ALIGNMENT AND WIDTH OF TOWPATH PRIOR TO BEGINNING ANY NEW PHASE
OF CONSTRUCTION.
5. DRIVABLE SURFACES SHALL CONSIST OF EXISTING CONCRETE PAVEMENT, TEMPORARY ASPHALT PAVEMENT, OR
FINISHED CONCRETE PAVEMENT. CHANGES IN LEVEL AT INTERFACE BETWEEN EXISTING, TEMPORARY, AND NEW
PAVEMENT SHALL BE SMOOTH WITH A DIFFERENCE IN ELEVATION OF LESS THAN 1/2-INCH. CHANGES IN CROSS
SLOPE AT TEMPORARY PAVEMENT TRANSITIONS SHALL NOT EXCEED 3-PERCENT AND CHANGES IN LONGITUDINAL
SLOPE AT TEMPORARY PAVEMENT TRANSITIONS SHALL NOT EXCEED 3-PERCENT.
6. TOWPATH CENTERLINE AND EXTENTS SHALL BE CLEARLY DELINEATED WITH PAINT AND REFRESHED AS NEEDED.
TRANSIT ROUTES SHALL BE CLEARLY DEFINED WITH TEMPORARY TRAFFIC CONTROL MARKERS AND SIGNS FOLLOWING
MUTCD GUIDELINES. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE A TEMPORARY TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN PRIOR TO EACH PHASE OF
CONSTRUCTION.
7. TRANSIT ROUTES FOR DELIVERIES AND PARTS MOVEMENT MUST BE MAINTAINED THROUGH CONTRACTOR OCCUPIED
WORK ZONES. TRANSIT ROUTE MUST HAVE A 25-FOOT MINIMUM WIDTH DRIVABLE SURFACE AND WILL GENERALLY
FOLLOW THE TEMPORARY TOWPATH. ADDITIONAL WIDTH MY BE REQUIRED TO ACCOMMODATED VEHICLE TURNING
MOVEMENTS. RELOCATION AND TEMPORARY CLOSURES OF TRANSIT ROUTES SHALL BE COORDINATED WITH BOEING
REPRESENTATIVE DAILY.
8. CONSTRUCTION HAUL ROUTES SHALL BE COORDINATED WITH BOEING REPRESENTATIVE PRIOR TO THE START OF
CONSTRUCTION.
9. ALL NEWLY INSTALLED UTILITIES EXPOSED TO VEHICLE TRAFFIC MUST BE INSTALLED PER PIPE BEDDING AND
BACKFILL DETAILS AS SHOWN IN THE PLANS. IF SUFFICIENT COVER CANNOT BE ACHIEVED PRIOR TO OPENING THE
AREA TO TRAFFIC, CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE STEEL PLATE OR OTHER MEANS OF PROTECTION APPROVED BY THE
ENGINEER FOR THE ANTICIPATING TRAFFIC LOADING. CONTRACTOR SHALL HAVE STEEL PLATE OR OTHER APPROVED
MEANS OF UTILITY PROTECTION ON HAND PRIOR TO OPENING UTILITY TRENCHES WITHIN THE DRIVABLE SURFACES OF
TOW PATH OR TRANSIT ROUTES. CONCRETE COLLARS MUST BE CONSTRUCTED AT PVC DRAIN BASINS PRIOR TO
EXPOSURE TO TRAFFIC OR CONSTRUCTION LOADING.
10. SEE SHEETS C150-C152 OF THE APRON R PLANS FOR PROJECT AREA DESIGNATIONS.
