SEENCOCOMMUNICATIONS4610TACOMAAVESUMNERWA,98390CITYOFRENTON3/9/17MAR10201?Towhomitmayconcern:CUSTOMERSERVICECityofRenton1055SouthGradyWayRenton,Wa98057Re:AerialVarianceRequestforJT#232512Towhomitmayconcern,SEFNCOCommunicationshasbeencontractedtodesignandengineerthisprojectonbehalfofComcastCablevision.Comcastisapplyingforavariancerequestinordertomoveexistingaerialfiberandcoax.ComcastproposesremovecoaxandfiberfromtheoldpolesalongLakeWash.Blvd.appx.870’andmovebacktothenewpowerpoles,placedtothenorth40’,thissystemwasaerialbefore.ComcastisrequestingthattheCityofRentonapprovethisvariancerequestbasedonthefactthattherequirementsforundergroundingthisproposedmovewillnotcausesubstantialadverseimpactstootherpersonsorentitiesintheimmediateareaandwillcauseunduehardship.1.Installationofundergroundingfacilitieswillincreasethetotalcostofconstructionroughly15-25timestheamountofaerialover-lashontheexistingComcaststrand.2.PotentialDamagetoundergroundfacilitieswillbeincreased.3.Movingwillnotcausesubstantialadverseimpacttootherpersonsorentitiesintheimmediatearea.Movingthecablewillbeaccomplishedina2days,andtheresidentswillnotnoticeandimpact.Comcastwillcleanupasnecessaryandidentifyandremoveanyexistingdeadcablesalongthisroute.4.Thevarianceisnecessarytopreventandunduehardshipduetotheincreasedconstructioncostifforcedtoinstalltheproposedextensionunderground.5.ThegrantingofthevariancewillnotbemateriallydetrimentaltothepublicwelfarebecauseComcastdoesagreetoundergroundthecablesystem,buttheyarewaivingtheobligationintothefuturewhenallotherutilitiesareundergroundtopreventanunduehardshipagainstComcastcurrently.UponthegrantingoftheVariance,Comcastwillcoordinateconstructionandtrafficcontrolasperyourrequirements.Comcastandtheircontractorswanttocooperateatthehighestlevelandagreetoadhere
