HomeMy WebLinkAboutAdmin ReportEXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT M E M O R A N D U M DATE: February 11, 2019 TO: Don Persson, Council President Members of Renton City Council FROM: Denis Law, Mayor Robert Harrison, Chief Administrative Officer SUBJECT: Administrative Report The 2019 State of the City address has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 28, 2019, at 8 a.m. at Renton Pavilion Event Center. Tickets are $25 each or $200 for a table of eight, and can be purchased by calling 425-430-6616. The city's severe weather shelter will be open through Wednesday, February 13. The shelter will open daily at 8 p.m. and close the following morning at 7 a.m. The shelter is located at the Old Chamber of Commerce building, 300 Rainier Avenue North in Renton. All are welcome and must register at the door. Contact the Crisis Clinic by dialing 2-1-1 to access shelter information. • The City of Renton is seeking candidates to serve on the Senior Citizens Advisory Board. The board acts in an advisory capacity on matters of particular interest to senior citizens in the Renton community. To apply, download an application from the city's website at rentonwa.gov/bcc or call 425-430-6632 to have one mailed. Applications are also available at the Renton Senior Activity Center. Completed applications should be returned to Debbie Little at the Senior Activity Center or mailed to the Mayor's Office. Applications must be received by 5 p.m. on February 15, 2019. • During the month of February, the main display case located on the lobby level of City Hall features an educational display by the Solid Waste Utility. The display provides information about stores in Renton that accept plastic bags for recycling and illustrates examples of different types of plastic bags that are recyclable. As a reminder, plastic bags are no longer accepted in curbside recycling. Residents are encouraged to take their plastic bags to stores with plastic bag recycling bins or recycle at the city's Spring Recycling Event on May 11, 2019, at Renton Technical College. Road conditions, especially during the winter months, may impact recycling, organics, and garbage collection routes in Renton. Hauler trucks are heavy and the city and Republic Services are concerned with public safety. If weather conditions Don Persson, Council President Members of Renton City Council Page 2 of 3 February 11, 2019 prevent collection of recycling, organics, or garbage carts, remove the carts from the curb at the end of the day and follow the guidelines below. Please follow container weight limits. • Recycling and garbage carts will be collected on the Saturday immediately following the missed collection. • Organics cart will be collected on the next regularly scheduled collection day, the following week. Questions may be directed to Brad Stocco at 206-282-2373. ✓ Monday, February 11 through Friday, February 15, 4:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Single lane closure along southbound Talbot Road South between the northbound 1-405 on -ramp and the southbound 1-405 off -ramp for the 1-405 Direct Connector Project. Questions may be directed to Justin Johnson at 425- 430-7291. ✓ Monday, February 11 through Friday, February 15, 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Expect intermittent lane closures and traffic delays along Talbot Road South (SR 515) related to the 1-405/SR 167 Interchange Direct Connector Project. In addition, northbound and southbound nighttime lane restrictions and closures along SR 167 and 1-405 are also scheduled this week related to the project. The Renton Hill Utility Replacement Project is underway with anticipated completion in May 2019. Following completion of the utility project, an overlay of the affected surface streets will be conducted as part of the 2019 overlay project. The overlay is scheduled to be completed prior to October 31, 2019. ✓ Monday, February 11 through February 2019.
