WSDOT Exchange Property
City Transfer crew continued placing imported soil for the reinforced soil slope.
Their conveyor belt moved native soils from the Rolling Hills excavation to hillside
where a track hoe and earth mover placed material between layers of SF 55 geogrid. A
roller compacted this material. This work was done at Elev. 180 ft. and between Sta.
11+75 to 13+00.
9:00 – Dan Quehl, Mayes Inspector on site.
9:30 – Ken Viren, WSDOT not on site, today, to test compaction.
3:00 – After reinforced soil slope crew finished placing Elev. 180 ft. layer, Dan Q. tested
compaction. Test passed. Elev. 180 is a hold point. Signed and approved Dan’s check
list.
Benson Hill Road
Gary Merlino crew continued excavation of the hillside east of the roadway and dumping
it on the west side. Two flaggers were used for traffic control. Traffic, on both north and
southbound lanes, was stopped for several minutes to place material. After noon, this
material was transported to the conveyor belt.
1:30 - Traffic control was removed from Benson Road.
Rolling Hills
A dozer and track hoe continued to excavate to hillside north of the Benson Hill Bridge
and along the northbound lanes. Native soils were loaded onto a conveyor belt to the
WSDOT Exchange Property.
