Re: Exemption Request
Building A TIG Welding Addition
Renton Technical College
3000 NE Fourth Street
Renton WA 98056
Dear Mr. Morganroth
We want to request an exemption of the City of Renton’s requirement for the Street and
Frontage Improvement per RMC 4-6-060 for the Renton Technical College Building A TIG
Welding Addition. The exemption applies for the ability to maintain the existing right-of-way
improvements along NE 4th Street and Monroe Avenue NE. This project is relatively small 300
square foot addition to Building A and is necessary to improve the layout of the welding
instructional area. A civil permit for the frontage improvements would result in a financial
hardship on the project due to the significant cost associated with the improvements and
would prevent the project from proceeding. From a previous discussion with your department,
it is our understanding that this project qualifies for this exemption.
The Renton Technical College strives to provide a quality environment for student education
and works to improve student success. The college’s mission is to engage a diverse student
population through educational opportunities for career r eadiness and advancement, serving
the needs of individuals, the community, businesses, and industry. The TIG Welding Addition to
Building “A” is part of that vision by providing educational opportunities. The Renton Technical
College is requesting an exemption from the Street and Frontage Improvements as outlined in
in RMC 4-6-060.
Please let us know if you have any questions or there is any other information you would like us
to provide.
Respectfully
Cary H Guenther (On behalf of Renton Technical College)
