• April is full of many interesting events at the Renton History Museum. Events include a
performance from Cryout!, a look at life in a WWII Internment Camp, community

• April is Safe Digging Month! April marks the start of the spring digging season for
homeowners, landscapers, and construction companies. Failure to locate underground
utilities before digging results in unintentionally hitting underground lines or pipes, leading
to penalties, repair costs, inconvenient outages, injury, or even death. Washington's free
811 one-call service notifies the appropriate utility companies of the intent to dig, and the
center dispatches professional locators to the site to mark approximate locations of
underground lines, safely alerting the dig crew of the danger below. All residents and
professional excavators are required by law to call 811 at least two business days before
they dig.
• Saturdays Only,April 22nd through May 6th, 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. The Department of Ecology
and the Don't Drip and Drive Program* are offering free auto leak detection workshops to
the public at Renton Technical College. Drivers can learn basic car care and get a free oil

leak inspection at the workshop. Classes are valued at $125 and will cover basic car
systems, vital fluids, belts, hoses, filters, and much more. Inspections are conducted by
certified automotive instructors. On Earth Day, April 22nd, the workshop will be offered in

• Spring is here, and summer is soon to follow! As the weather improves in the Puget Sound
region, the City of Renton's parks and trails become more popular. The following friendly
reminders are meant to help make your outdoor experience more enjoyable for yourself
and those around you:
1. The City of Renton's 'Park Rules and Regulations' (RMC 2-9-8) and 'Share the Trail'
brochure information are located on the city's website at www.rentonwa.�ov. Using the
Quick Links, click on Living in Renton/Parks. Specific rules to remember which are enforced
by the Renton Police Department:
-Dogs are not allowed at Coulon Memorial Beach Park or Kennydale Beach Park. All
other parks allow dogs on 6' leashes.
-The city does have an 'off-leash dog park' located along the Cedar River Trail — 1500
Houser Way (across the river from the Renton Community Center).
-Pet owners, please obey the 'Scoop Your Poop' law.
-Reduced speed limits and dismount zones are posted along the Cedar River Trail.
-Trail etiquette for all users is included in the city's 'Parks Rules and Regulations' and the

Preventative street maintenance, traffic impact projects, and road closures will be at the
following locations:
✓ Monday, April 17th through approximately Tuesday, April 25th. The northbound
I-405 on-ramp improvements at NE 30th Street and NE 44th Street project is not yet
complete. Construction crews will be on site conducting work in preparation of
repaving the affected lanes. More detailed information about upcoming lane closures
and restrictions is available tonight on the back table. Questions may be directed to

lane restrictions and closures along SR 167 and I-405 are scheduled this week related to

and adjacent to the intersection of Main Avenue South and South 2nd Street, is
tentatively scheduled to close beginning Monday, April 3rd for a period not to exceed
two months. A map showing alternative routes through this area is available tonight on
the back table.
✓ Monday, April 17th through approximately Friday,July 14th. The intersection of NE
10th Street and Harrington Avenue NE will be closed to accommodate construction of
the Sunset Neighborhood Park and surrounding area. A map showing alternative routes

✓ Monday,April 17th through approximately Friday,July 28th. Complete road closure of
Harrington Avenue NE, Sunset Lane NE, and Glennwood Avenue NE for approximately
one year to accommodate the Sunset Lane NE Roadway Improvements Project. Detours

between Sunset Lane NE and Harrington Avenue NE as well as a full road closure on
Harrington Avenue NE between NE 10th Street and Sunset Lane NE will be in place as
