SUMMARY OF ACTION:
Mayor Law appoints Mr. Aaron Blalack to the Renton Municipal Arts Commission for a term expiring 12/31/19.

SUBJECT:Appointment to Renton Municipal Arts Commission
The Renton Municipal Arts Commission currently has a position open,vacated byiaris
English at the end of 2015,for a term of office that will expire in December of 2019.The
RMAC solicited applications throughout the community by a variety of methods.
A Renton resident,Aaron Blalack,attended the monthly April 2016 RMAC meeting and
subsequently submitted an application (attached herewith)to become a Commissioner.
The Commissioners who were at the meeting and were able to discuss with him his
background and interest in the arts in general and in Renton in particular were
impressed with his engaging and enthusiastic demeanor.His professional experience in
the high tech industry and background in music will contribute to the ability of the
RMAC to fulfill its responsibilities to the community.The RMAC has,therefore,provided
a memorandum (attached)putting his name forward to fill the vacant position.
Although I do not believe it was a consideration,the appointment of Mr.Blalack to the
Commission will increase its already significant diversity.
In concurrence with the endorsement of the full Renton Municipal Arts Commission and
the RMAC liaison,I recommend the appointment to the Renton Municipal Arts
Commission of Aaron Blalack to a position that will expire December 2019.
