Follow up to 1/22/18 Finance Committee:
1. All Traffic Data Services, $1,125.00
a. Question: Where were these traffic studies done? Where they the result of citizen complaints?
b. Answer: These studies consisted of 3 speed studies and 3 average daily traffic studies. Speed studies
were done to address complaints of speeding by citizens. The three average daily traffic studies
were done to determine if an all‐way stop was warranted at the intersection of Southeast 136th
Street and 161st Place Southeast, which were initiated by a citizen request.
2. Pacific Glass, $908.60
a. Question: Why were there repairs at the Old Highlands Library? Does the City still own this property?
b. Answer: The City still owns the property, however, there are plans for the sale to close soon. There was
a small fire that have been started behind the building and a window that had been broken and needed
repair. See attached pictures.
3. US Bank
a. Question #1: What was the purchase from Olympic Trailer ($5,218.24) for?
b. Answer #1: This purchase was for Police Special Operations and was purchased with VNET
funding. VNET funding comes from federal seizures, and the Renton Police Department was granted
their request for a total of $13,000 for a new trailer and new CDU equipment.
c. Question #2: What service did Red Carpet Valet ($373.24) provide the City?
d. Answer #2: Rather than using City staff to direct cars into stalls during Clam Lights, the City contracted
with Red Carpet Valet. Using a vendor was more cost effective than paying employees overtime and
they helped ensure maximum usage of the parking area.
4. Eastside Veterinary
a. Finance is in the process of completing a year‐end analysis, plus cost comparisons to the Humane
Society. We will be bringing this report to the 2/12/2018 finance committee meeting.
5. Request for modified voucher report
a. Attached is a draft version of the voucher report in an excel format, for your review. Please let me know
if this report would be useful for voucher review and if there are any modifications you would like to
see.
Please let us know if you have other questions.
