Follow up from 3/12/2018 finance committee:
1. City of Kent, $1,000
Question: What services does the city of Kent provide?
Answer: This is a regional system for human service applications, which is used by an alliance of 17 cities
in east, north, and south King county. The system helps each city see review the allocation of their
human service funding to make sure resources are evenly distributed to applicant organizations
throughout the region. In the past, this system was developed and managed by eCityGov, but once
eCityGov discontinued its support of the application, the City of Kent took over the management of the
application and each participating city pays Kent to maintain the system.
2. Sports Turf, $3,293.21
Question: Were these supplies or some sort of repairs done?
Answer: Per Doug Mills, Golf Course Manager: “This invoice was for the repair/rebuild of existing
irrigation heads for the golf course. Steve has located a company that will take our damaged/broken
heads and rebuild them for a lessor cost than acquiring new.”
3. Stave, $2,725
Question: What types of services are these?
Answer: Stave is one of a few public defense law firms that provide public defense services when the
City’s primary public defense attorney (Cayce and Grove) is unable to provide service, in the event
conflict or appeals cases.
4. University of Washington, $7,000
Question: What is the “Art and Placemaking Strategy Project”?
Answer: CED has a consulting contract with Northwest Center for Livable Communities (UW’s
Department of Urban Design and Planning). The consultant is to provide strategic visioning plans for
CED. Attached is Exhibit A, of CAG‐18‐034, which provides a more detailed plan.
