GENERAL NOTES
T_.__Tn__worT materials shall be in conformance with the standards and specifi-
cations of the City of Renton Utility Department and APWA Standards and
Specifications, 1977 Edition.
2. All locations of existing utilities shown are approximate and it shall be.
the Contractor's responsibility to verify the true and correct location so
as to avoid damage or disturbance.
3. Water Main Pipe. All water main pipe to be cement lined cast iron pipe con-
forming to ASA Spec's A21 -6 -1970 and /or A21 -8 -1970, Class 22 (Pipe); A21 -1
(Pipe strength) ; and A21 -A 1964 (lining and sealing). The pipe will be push -
on or mechanical joint. Bedding to be Class C.
Alternate Pipe. All water main pipe to be cement lined ductile iron pipe
cenfoming to ASA Spec's A21 -51 -1971, Class 52, Grade 60 -42 -10 (Pipe),
A2.1 -4 -1964 (lining and sealing). Pipe joints to be push -on or mechanical
joint. Bedding to be Class C.
4. All fittings to be cast iron, Class 250, conforming to ASA Spec. A -21 -10 -1977.
Fitting joints to be flanged or mechanical joints.
5. All water main to maintain a minimum cover of 3b inches below finish grade.
Where utility conflicts occur, water mains are to be lowered to clear.
6. All water mains shall be pressure tested and disinfected in accordance with
the specifications of the City of Renton and the Washington State Health
Department. All pressure testing shall be done in the presence of a repre-
sentative of the 'City of Renton. All mains to be sterilized prior to placing
lines into service.
7. A pre - construction conference and twenty -four hour notice will be required
prior to starting new construction.
8. It shall be the Contractor's responsibility to secure all necessary permits
prior'to starting construction.
9. Installation of corporate stops, water services, lines and meters to be
accomplished by the City of Renton.
10. All connection to existing mains to be accomplished by the City of Renton. .
All necessary excavation and materials to be supplied by the Contractor and
be on -site prior to City notification.
11. Inspection will be accomplished by a representative of the City of Renton.
It shall be the Contractor's responsibility to notify the Utility Department
24 hours in advance of backfilling all construction.
12. Contractor to provide plugs and temporary blow -off assemblies for testing
and purity acceptance prior to final tie -in.
13. All fitting call outs shown list run size first and branch size last.
14. Gate valves include 8'x24" C.I. gate valve boxes & concrete valve marker where
required or requested by City of Renton Public Works Departmebt. 12" gate valve
assemblies include 1" by pass valve assembly & valve chamber as shown in City of
Renton Standard Detail.
5.1 Skids for casing across SR 515 are to be installed as shown in Skid Detail below.
