CITY OF RENTON SPECIFICATION
SANITARY SEWERS -
1. It shall be the responsibility of the contractor tv- sve44- damage or
disturbance to all existing utilities. The contractor shall contact
all utilities including but not limited to telephone, power, sewer,
water, gas d cable T:V. for the purpose of identifying the correct
locations prior to construction.
2. Public sewers shall conform to the latest, standards of "The Standard
specifications for Municipal'Publie Works Construction" of the American
Public Works Association and to the "Recommended Standards for Sewage
Works" of the Great Lake -Upper Mississippi River Board of State
Sanitary Engineers, and are subject to review by the Department of
Ecology of Washington.
3. The - Public sewer shall be. ductile iron, AWWA C151, cast iron, AWWA C106,
or C108, with Type 2 pushon or Type 3 mechanical joints, together with
cement mortar lining 3'32" in accordance with AWWA C104, or polyvinyl
chloride (PVC) plastic pipe ASTM D 3034, �eenereee non -

pipe shall meet ASTM 1869 standards.. Minimum size shall "be 8" diameter.
4. Manholes shall be installed at the end of each line, at all changes
�.of grade, size or alignment, at distances no greater than 400' for
15" diameter sewers or smaller. Greater spacing may be permitted in
larger sewers.. Manholes shall be a ninimum of 48"'diameter, shall be
precast concrete or cast in place concrete, with steel reinforcement:
steps will be placed at 1' spacing, conforming to cu rrent safety
regulations. -
The manhole covers shall be 24" diameter cast iron Frame and d0c -61,5
Ilan cjrate. No inside drop connections will be allowed. All connec-
tions to t manhole shall match the existing inverts or have an out-
side drop connection.
5. All lift stations, both public and for private building sewers shall
have alarm and standby emergency operation systems. All lift stations
shall meet or exceed the specifications of Chapter 30 of "Recom-
mended at for Sewage Works ".
6. All public sewer extensions shall conform to the standards and be
consistent with the City comprehensive sewerage plan.
7. Public Sewers irstalled in filled or unstable ground, in areas with
high - ground - water levels,'or in areas.where the potential for infil-
tzation occurs, may be required to be; cast or ductile iron pipe,
or PVC plastic D - 3034 pipe.
