CONSTRUCT ON NOTES
n
1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FIELD VERIFY ALL EXISTING PIPE SIZES,
THEIR LOCATIONS, AND INVERT ELEVATIONS (WITH POT HOLE
METHOD), PRIOR TO THE PIPE CONNECTIONS.
2. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUPPORT, PROTECT AND KEEP IN SERVICE
ALL EXISTING UTILITIES DURING THE PIPELINE WORK UNLESS NOTED
OTHERWISE.
3. EXISTING UTILITY LOCATIONS ARE APPROXIMATE. THE LOCATION OF
EXISTING UTILITIES SHALL BE VERIFIED BY CONTRACTOR PRIOR TO
CONSTRUCTION. CALL 48 HOURS BEFORE YOU DIG FOR UTILITY
LOCATIONS: 1 - -800- 424 -5555.
4. WHEN EXCAVATING IN THE VICINITY OF ANY POWER POLES OR
SUPPORTS, THE CONTRACTOR MUST SUPPORT AND PROTECT ALL POLES
OR SUPPORTS WITHOUT UNDERMINING THEIR STABILITY.
5. CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN SIDE SEWER FLOWS DURING
CONSTRUCTION, - -EST RESTORED SIDE SEWERS BEFORE BACKFILLING,
AND PROVIDE MATERIALS AND LABOR TO RELAY SIDE SEWERS TO
ELIMINATE CONFLICT WITH THE NEW METRO PIPELINE. SEWERS SHALL
BE INSTALLED AT A MINIMUM SLOPE OF 2% AND A MAXIMUM SLOPE OF
50 %.
6. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROTECT THE EXISTING TELEPHONE DUCTS,
DIRECT BURIED CABLE AND VAULTS FROM DAMAGE DURING
CONSTRUCTION. - -HE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY US WEST
COMMUNICATIONS, MR. FRANK FORREST AT 345 -2968, A MINIMUM OF
ONE (1) WEEK IN ADVANCE OF CONSTRUCTION IN THE VICINITY OF
TELEPHONE LINES.
7. 48 HOURS PRIOR TO THE PAVEMENT REMOVAL AND TRENCH EXCAVATION,
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY WASHINGTON NATURAL GAS, MR JERRY
HOLMES AT 447 - -3285, FOR THE ENCOUNTERED HIGH PRESSURE PIPES.
8. WHERE NEW PIPE CLEARS AN EXISTING UTILITY BY 6 INCHES OR
LESS, RIGID STYROFOAM SHALL BE INSERTED BETWEEN TO PROVIDE
A CUSHION.
9. CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN ALL EXISTING STORM AND SANITARY
FLOWS DURING CONSTRUCTION.
10. ALL EXISTING UTILITIES DAMAGED DURING CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE
RESTORED USING ONLY NEW MATERIALS AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH
CURRENT CITY OF RENTON STANDARD PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS.
WORK SHALL BE PERFORMED IN A MANNER ACCEPTABLE TO THE
UTILITY OWNER.
11. ALL EXISTING UTILITIES NOT SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS WHICH ARE
ENCOUNTERED DURING CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE PROTECTED EXCEPT
WHEN DIRECTED OTHERWISE BY THE ENGINEER.
12. ALL PIPES WHICH ARE SEVERED AND ARE TO BE ABANDONED SHALL BE
PLUGGED AND FILLED PER SPECIFICATION SECTION 03600.
13. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL USE CARE WHEN EXCAVATING ADJACENT TO
EXISTING MANHOLES, WHICH MUST BE BRACED DURING EXCAVATION.
AN OPTION IS TO BALANCE EXCAVATION AROUND THE MANHOLE, FOR
THIS OPTION, SURFACE RESTORATION SHALL BE FULL PANEL WIDTH
OF 10' OUTSIDE THE MANHOLE. ALL COSTS TO BE BORNE BY THE
CONTRACTOR.
14. ALL TREES WITHIN THE CONTRACT LIMITS SHALL BE PROTECTED,
RESTORED OR REPLACED.
15, THE CONTRACTOR IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT TRAFFIC CONTROL PLANS
TO METRO, FOR WSDOT AND CITY OF RENTON TRANSPORTATION
DIVISION APPROVAL. THE TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN SHALL INCLUDE
THE PIPELINE CONSTRUCTION AND PAVEMENT RESTORATION. SEE
SPECIFICATION SECTION 01570 FOR RESTRICTIONS.
16. PRIOR TO THE PIPELINE CONSTRUCTION WITHIN THE WSDOT RIGHT -
OF -WAY, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REVIEW THE SPECIFICATION
SECTION 01062 ATTACHMENT -A WSDOT UTILITY FRANCHISE, GENERAL
AND SPECIAL PROVISIONS.
17. WHEN PIPE JACKING ACROSS THE WINDSOR PARK ESTATES AND C.W.
PHARR LOTS, JACKING OR RECEIVING PITS MAY ONLY BE UNCOVERED
AND OPEN FOR THE MINIMUM AMOUNT OF TIME POSSIBLE, AND NOT TO
EXCEED 60 WORKING DAYS, SEE SPECIFICATION SECTION 01620

CONSTRUCTION NOTES
18. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE TRAFFIC CONTROL DURING THE
HOURS OF CONSTRUCTION AS REQUIRED BY THE CITY OF RENTON AND
/OR WSDOT IN A SAFE, PRUDENT OPERATING MANNER. DURING THE
HOURS OF NON- CONSTRUCTION, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN ALL
EXISTING TRAFFIC LANES FOR VEHICULAR TRAFFIC. ALL UNFINISHED
WORK SHALL BE LEFT IN A SAFE, NON- HAZARDOUS CONDITION TO THE
PUBLIC, AND BE IN CONFORMANCE WITH DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND
INDUSTRIES CHAPTER 296 -155 WAG.
19. CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY CITY OF RENTON TRANSPORTATION
OPERATION OFFICE, BRYSON HUIE AT 277 -6222, A MINIMUM OF 5
DAYS IN ADVANCE OF BEGINNING ANY WORK AFFECTING, OR IN THE
VICINITY OF, TRAFFIC CONTROL SYSTEMS.
20. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL TAKE ALL NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID
DAMAGE, SETTLEMENT OR UNDERMINING OF STRUCTURE FOUNDATIONS
IN THE VICINITY OF CONSTRUCTION. THE PROTECTION MEASURES
SHALL BE CONTRACTOR DESIGNED. THE PLAN AND DESIGN SHALL BE
PERFORMED BY A LICENSED STATE OF WASHINGTON STRUCTURAL
ENGINEER AND BE SUBMITTED TO METRO, PER SECTION 01300, FOR
REVIEW. IF METRO DOES NOT APPROVE OF THE CONTRACTOR'S PLAN
FOR SUPPORT OF THE EXISTING STRUCTURE, METRO MAY DIRECT THE
CONTRACTOR TO TAKE ADDITIONAL MEASURES IN ORDER TO SAFEGUARD
THE INTEGRITY OF THE EXISTING STRUCTURE.
21. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MONITOR SETTLEMENT AT LOCATIONS INDICATED
IN THE DRAWINGS. REFER TO LEGEND FOR MONITORING POINT SYMBOL.
22. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE TEMPORARY PAVEMENT MARKINGS AND
CHANNELIZATION DISTURBED AND /OR REMOVED DURING CONSTRUCTION.
ALL STREET SIGNAGE REMOVED AND /OR DESTROYED BY CONSTRUCTION
ACTIVITIES SHALL BE REPLACED.
23. WHEN EXCAVATING THE OPEN TRENCH BETWEEN STATION 7 +50 AND
STATION 10 +30. THE CONTRACTOR MAY ENCOUNTER BURRIED DEBRIS THAT
MAY INCLUDE BOULDERS AND BROKEN REINFORCED CONCRETE.
24. WITHIN THE PARKS DEPARTMENT PROPERTY THE CONTRACTOR SHALL
COORDINATE WITH THE CITY OF RENTON PARKS DEPARTMENT FOR SOD
REPLACEMENT. SOD MIX SHALL BE 50% PERENNIAL RYE GRASS, 30%
KENTUCKY BLUEGRASS, AND 20% CREEPING -RED FISCUE.

2. OVERHEAD ELECTRICAL SERVICE LINES ARE NOT SHOWN IN THEIR
ENTIRETY ON THE DRAWINGS. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR
DETERMINING THE EXTENT OF ANY HAZARD CREATED BY OVERHEAD OR
UNDERGROUND ELECTRICAL POWER, THROUGHOUT THE CONSTRUCTION
SITE, AND SHALL FOLLOW CONSTRUCTION PROCEDURES AS REQUIRED
BY LAW AND BY REGULATION. PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION, THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL MEET WITH UTILITY OWNERS, DETERMINE THE
EXTENT OF THE HAZARD, AND TAKE WHATEVER PRECAUTIONS AND
REMEDIAL MEASURES MAY BE REQUIRED.
3. ALL PROPERTY CORNERS, RIGHT -OF -WAY MARKERS, SURVEY MONUMENTS
AND FENCES TO BE REMOVED OR DISTURBED BY CONSTRUCTION SHALL
BE FIRST LOCATED AND REFERENCED BY A SURVEY, THEN RESTORED
IN THEIR ORIGINAL LOCATION.
4. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT MUST BE NOTIFIED 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE IF
ACCESS TO A HYDRANT OR ROADWAY WILL BE BLOCKED.
