s CITY 101F RENTON ]?-27m2987 2004 LIFT STATION REHABILITATION (LAKE WASHINGTON FLUSHING STATION AND MISTY COVE LIFT STATION) GENERAL NOTES 1. CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS ALL WORKMANSHIP, DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION SHALL CDNFORM TO THE CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS, TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS, THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE (1997 EDITION), AS AMENDED BY CHAPTER 51 -40 FOR THE WAC, THE RENTON MUNICIPAL CODE, AND THE CITY OF RENTON STANDARD PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS. 2. PRE — CONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE A PRE — CONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE AND TWENTY —FOUR HOUR NOTICE WILL BE REQUIRED PRIOR TO COMMENCING CONSTRUCTION. 3.PPERMITS AND INSPECTIONS a. PERMITS: THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SECURE ALL NECESSARY PERMITS PRIOR TO STARTING CONSTRUCTION. SEE SPECIFICATION'S FOR FURTHER INFORMATION REGARDING PERMITS. b. INSPLCTION: THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN ALL BUILDING DEPARTMENT INSPECTIONS DURING CONSTRUCTION. SOME OF THE INSPECTIONS WILL BE PERFORMED BY A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE CITY OF RENTON. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE OWNER 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF ANY BACKFILLING OR COVERING OF CONSTRUCTION. 4. CONSTRUCTION SAFETY THE CONTRACTOR SHALL TAKE ALL NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC AND PREVENT NUISANCE'S WHILE PERFORMING CONSTRUCTION WORK ON THIS PROJECT. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE TEMPORARY BRACING FOR THE STRUCTURE AND STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS UNTIL ALL FINAL CONNECTIONS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE !PLANS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT THE DNE —CALL U11UTY LOCATE SERVICE AT 1 -800- 424 -5555 A MINIMUM OF 48 HOURS PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION FOR UTILITY LOCATIONS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE ENGINEER AND THE UTILITY COMPANY WHEN A CONFLICT OCCURS OR WHEN A CONFLICT IS ANTICIPATED. 5. UTILITIES: THE LOCATIONS OF EXISTING UTILITIES SHOWN ON THESE CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS ARE APPROXIMATE. THE SOURCE OF INFORMATION GENERALLY CONSISTS OF CONSTRUCTION RECORDS, UTILITY LOCATES, AND OTHER DATA OBTAINED VERBALLY FROM OFFICIALS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PARTICULAR UTILITY. OWNER AND ENGINEER DO NOT GUARANTIES NOR ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ACCURACY OF THIIS INFORMATION. IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT OTHER ABOVE GROUND AND UNDERGROUND FACILITIES NOT SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS MAY BE ENCOUNTERED DURING THE COURSE OF THE WORK. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY THE TRUE AND CORRECT LOCATION OF EXISTING UTILITIES TO AVOID DAMAGE OR DISTURBANCE. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL REPAIR ALL DAMAGED UTILITIES IMMEDIATELY. 6. CONSTRUCTION STAKING THE CONTRACTOR WILL PROVIDE ALL CONSTRUCTION STAKING ON THIS PROJECT INCLUDING THE PREPARATION OF COMPLETE AS —BUILT RECORDS. 7. CONTRACTOR INITIATED CHANGES CONTRACTOR INITIATED CHANGES SHALL BE SUBMITTED IN WRITING TO THE ENGINEER FOR APPROVAL PRIOR TO FABRICATION CR CONSTRUCTION. 8. MAINTAINING SERVICE THE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN SEWER SERVICE TO ALL EXISTING CUSTOMERS ON THE LAKE LINE AT ALL TIMIES. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE CITY A MINIMUM OF 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF ANY PLANNED DISRUPTION OF THE EXISTING WASTEWATER COLLECTION AND FLUSHING SYSTEM'S. MAXIMUM DOWN TIME OR DISRUPTION OF FLUSHING STATION TO INSTALL BYPASS FLUSHING SYSTEM IS 8 HOURS,. 9. MAINTAINING FLUSHING STATION OPERATION DURING CONSTRUCTION THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE FOR NORMAL OPERATION, AND PROVIDE ACCESS TO T1HIE FLUSHING STATION UNTIL A TEMPORARY FLUSHING SYSTEM IIS OPERATIONAL AND APPROVED IN WRITING BY THE OWNER. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT A TEMPORARY FLUSHING PLAN IN WRITING TO THE OWNER FOR APPROVAL THAT DETAILS THE PROPOSED METHOD -OF KEEPING THE LAKE LINE FLUSHED DURING THE CONSTRUCTION WORK. THE TEMPORARY FLUSHING PLAN SHALL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION: A. MATERIALS LIST B. SEQUENCE OF EVENTS LIST AND SCHEDULE C. CAPACITY OF SYSTEM THE TEMPORARY FLUSHING SYSTEM SHALL MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: A. PUMPING CAPACITY BETWEEN 300 AND 350 GPM AT 10 FEET OF TDH. B. DISCHARGE OF PUMP SHALL DISCHARGE AT POINT IDENTIFIED IN THE PLANS. C. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE MEANS FOR WORKING IN THE WETWELL AS NECESSARY TO INSTALL THE TEMPORARY FLUSHING STATION. D. A PRESSURE RELIEF SYSTEM TO PREVENT THE PUMP FROM OVER— PRESSURIZING THE SYSTEM. THE PRESSURE RELIEF SYSTEM SHALL STOP THE PUMP IN A HIGH PRESSURE CONDITION. THE PRESSURE CONDITION SHALL BE SET IN THE FIELD. E. THE FLUSHING SYSTEM SHALL OPERATE FOR 1 HOUR TWICE A DAY AT THE FOLLOWING TIMES: 9 A.M. AND 4 P.M. INSTALLATION OF THE TEMPORARY PUMPING SYSTEM SHALL NOT BEGIN UNTIL WRITTEN APPROVAL HAS BEEN OBTAINED FROM THE OWNER. THE TEMPORARY FLUSHING SYSTEM SHALL NOT BE TAKEN OUT OF SERVICE UNTIL THE PROPOSED LIFT STATION HAS BEEN COMPLETED, TESTED, AND APPROVED IN WRITING BY THE OWNER. 10. DEWATERING AND SHORING IT HAS BEEN ANTICIPATED DURING THE DESIGN PHASE THAT DEWATERING WILL BE REQUIRED DURING THE IMPROVEMENTS TO STABILIZE THE SOILS FOR CONSTRUCTION. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DEWATERING AND SHORING DESIGN. 11. DAILY CLEANUP THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CLEANUP ALL AREAS AFFECTED BY CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES ON A DAILY BASIS TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE OWNER. THIS INCLUDES REMOVAL OF ALL DUST, MUD, ROCKS, ASPHALT DEBRIS, AND REFUSE FROM STREETS, SIDEWALKS, DRIVEWAYS, AND ANY OTHER AREAS AFFECTED BY THE CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES. FAILURE TO CLEANUP TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE OWNER WILL NECESSITATE A SHUTDOWN OF THE PROJECT UNTIL CLEANUP IS PROPERLY PERFORMED. 1,2. THRUST BLOCKING AND JOINT RESTRAINT THRUST BLOCKING OR APPROVED JOINT RESTRAINT SYSTEMS SHALL BE PROVIDED FOR ALL TEES, BENDS, DEAD—ENDS, AND CROSSES, AND SHALL COMPLY WITH THE STANDARD THRUST BLOCKING DETAILS AND RESTRAINT SYSTEMS AS INDICATED IN THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS. THRUST BLOCKS SHALL BE SIZED BASED ON THE FITTING TO BE BLOCKED AND SOIL TYPE ENCOUNTERED AT EACH LOCATION. IF CONFLICTING UTILITIES PREVENT THE USE OF A THRUST BLOCK IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE STANDARD DETAIL, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL INSTALL ALTERNATIVE THRUST RESTRAINT AS APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER. 13. SHOP DRAWINGS DRAWINGS FOR REINFORCING STEEL, PRECAST CONCRETE, CAST —IN —PLACE CONCRETE, AND STRUCTURAL STEEL SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO THE ENGINEER FOR REVIEW PRIOR TO FABRICATION OF THESE ITEMS. DIMENSIONS AND QUANTITIES ARE NOT REVIEWED BY THE ENGINEER. THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING SHOP DRAWING SUBMITTALS TO THE ENGINEER BY THE CONTRACTOR IS TO DEMONSTRATE TO THE ENGINEER THAT THE CONTRACTOR UNDERSTANDS THE DESIGN CONCEPT BY INDICATING WHICH MATERIALS THEY INTEND TO FURNISH AND INSTALL AND BY DETAILING THE FABRICATION kNO INSTALLATION METHODS THEY INTEND TO USE. IF DEVIA3I10INS, DISCREPANCIES, OR CONFLICTS BETWEEN SHOP DRAWING SUBMITTALS AND THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS ARE DISCOVERED, EITHER PRIOR TO OR AFTER SHOP DRAWING SUBMITTALS ARE PROCESSED BY THE ENGINEER, THE DESIGN DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS SHALL CONTROL AND SHALL BE FOLLOWED. 14. EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION ! CONTROL THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION CONTROL (ESC) PLAN AND THE CONSTRUCTION, MAINTENANCE, REPLACEMENT, AND UPGRADING OF THESE ESC IFACILITIES IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR UNTIL ALL CONSTRUCTION IS APPROVED. THE BOUNDARIES OF THE CLEARING LIMITS SHOWN ON THESE PLANS SHALL BE CLEARLY FLAGGED IN THE FIELD PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION. DURING THE CONSTRUCTION PERIOD, NO DISTURBANCE BEYOND THE FLAGGED CLEARING LIMITS SHALL BE PERMITTED. THE FLAGGING SHALL BE MAINTAINED BY THE CONTRACTOR' FOR THE DURATION OF CONSTRUCTION. THE ESC FACILITIES SHOWN ON THESE PLANS MUST BE CONSTRUCTED IN CONJUNCTION WITH ALL CLEARING AND GRADING ACTIVITIES, AND IN SUCH A MANNER AS TO INSURE THAT SEDIMENT LADEN WATER DOES NOT ENTER THE LAKE. THE ESC FACILITIES SHOW ON THESE PLANS ARE THE MINIMUM REQUIRED FOR ANTICIPATED SITE CONDITIONS DURING DRY WEATHER. DURING THE CONSTRUCTION PERIOD, THESE ESC FACILITIES 'SHALL BE UPGRADED (E.G., ADDITIONAL SUMPS, RELOCATION OF DITCHES AND SLIT FENCES, ETC.) AS NEEDED FOR ACTUAL WEATHER CONDITIONS AND UNEXPECTED STORM EVENTS. THE ESC FACILITIES SHALL BE INSPECTED DAILY BY THE CONTRACTOR AND MAINTAINED AS NECESSARY TO ENSURE THEIR CONTINUED FUNCTION. WHERE STRAW MULCH FOR TEMPORARY EROSION CONTROL IS REQUIRED, IT SHALL BE APPLIED AT A MINIMUM THICKNESS OF TWO INCHES. 15, CONSTRUCTION LIMITS CONSTRUCTION LIMITS ARE SHOWN ON THE PLANS.
