2. BEFORE ANY CONSTRUCTION OR DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY A PRECONSTRUCTION MEETING MUST BE HELD BETWEEN THE CITY OF RENTON
INSPECTOR, AND THE APPLICANT'S CONSTRUCTION REPRESENTATIVE.
3. UTILITIES AND GRADES SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED PER THE APPROVED PLANS. A COPY OF THESE APPROVED PLANS MUST BE ON THE
JOB SITE WHENEVER CONSTRUCTION IS IN PROGRESS.

11. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING ADEQUATE SAFEGUARDS, SAFETY DEVICES, PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT,
FLAGGERS, AND ANY OTHER NEEDED ACTIONS TO PROTECT THE LIFE, HEALTH, AND SAFETY OF WORKERS AND OF THE PUBLIC, AND TO
PROTECT PROPERTY IN CONNECTION WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF WORK COVERED BY THE CONTRACTOR. ANY WORK WITHIN THE TRAVELED
RIGHT -OF -WAY THAT MAY INTERRUPT NORMAL TRAFFIC FLOW SHALL REQUIRE AT LEAST ONE FLAGGER FOR EACH LANE OF TRAFFIC
AFFECTED. ALL SECTIONS OF THE WSDOT STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS 1 -0723 TRAFFIC CONTROL, SHALL APPLY.
12. EXISTING UTILITIES AND UNDERGROUND STRUCTURES SHOWN ON THE PLAN ARE BASED UPON THE BEST AVAILABLE PUBLIC RECORDS
AND\OR PRIVATE RECORDS AS SUPPLIED BY THE PROJECT OWNER AND\OR DATA OBTAINED VERBALLY FROM OWNERS OR OFFICIALS
ASSOCIATED WITH THE PARTICULAR UTILITY. NEITHER THE OWNER NOR THE ENGINEER GUARANTEE THE ACCURACY OR COMPLETENESS OF
THIS INFORMATION AND ASSUME NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR IMPROPER LOCATIONS OR FAILURE TO SHOW UTILITY LOCATIONS ON THE
CONSTRUCTION PLANS. OTHER UNDERGROUND FACILITIES NOT SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS MAY BE ENCOUNTERED DURING THE COURSE OF
THE WORK. ALL INVERT ELEVATIONS SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS SHALL BE VERIFIED BY THE CONTRACTOR PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION.
IF EXISTING UTILITIES ARE DAIMAGED, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY THE OWNER AND THE ENGINEER. THE CONTRACTOR
SHALL RESTORE THE UTILITY TO ITS EXISTING CONDITION.(WSDOT SECTION 1 -OZ17 APWA SUPPLEMENT).
13. IF CHANGED CONDITIONS ARE ENCOUNTERED, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE ENGINEER PROMPTLY OF (1) PREDEVELOPED
SUBSURFACE CONDITIONS DIFFERING FROM THOSE INDICATED IN THE PLANS, OR (2) PREDEVELOPED UNKNOWN SUBSURFACE CONDITIONS,
OF AN UNUSUAL NATURE, DIFFERING MATERIALLY FROM THOSE ORDINARILY ENCOUNTERED AND GENERALLY RECOGNIZED AS INHERENT IN
WORK OF THE CHARACTER PROVIDED FOR IN THE CONTRACT. THE CONTRACTOR AND /OR THE OWNER SHALL MAKE NO CLAIMS TO THE
ENGINEER FOR COMPENSATION FOR EXTRA WORK RESULTING FROM CHANGED CONDITIONS UNLESS THE ENGINEER OR OWNER HAS APPROVED
THE WORK IN WRITING. (WSDOT SEC 1 -04.7)
14. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CALL THE UTILITIES UNDERGROUND LOCATION CENTER (1 800 - 424 - 5555) FOR FIELD LOCATION OF ALL
UTILITIES AND SHALL NOT BEGIN EXCAVATION UNTIL ALL KNOWN UNDERGROUND FACILITIES IN THE VICINITY OF THE PROPOSED WORK HAVE
BEEN LOCATED AND MARKED. IF THE UTILITY IS NOT A SUBSCRIBER OF THE UNDERGROUND LOCATION CENTER THEN THE CONTRACTOR
SHALL GIVE INDIVIDUAL NOTICE TO THAT UTILITY. (WSDOT SEC. 1 -0717 APWA SUPPLEMENT)
15. WHERE THE PLANS CALL FOR UTILITIES TO BE RELOCATED BY OTHERS, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE UTILITY COMPANY AND
COORDINATE HIS WORK SO AS TO AVOID CONFLICTS.
16. ALL EXCAVATION, TRENCHING, SUBGRADE PREPARATION, FILL PLACEMENT AND COMPACTION AND ALL SOIL WORK IN GENERAL SHALL
BE CONDUCTED IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE PROJECT SOILS ENGINEER.
17. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR HIRING A PROFESSIONAL LAND SURVEYOR TO REFERENCE EXISTING MONUMENTS ON OR
ADJOINING THE SITE PRIOR TO DEMOLITION OR CONSTRUCTION ACTIVI TIES AND TO REESTABLISH SAID POINTS AT PROJECT COMPLETION.
THIS REESTABLISHMENT SHALL BE DOCUMENTED BY RECORD OF SURVEY OR CORNER RECORD AS DESCRIBED IN W.A.C. 332 -120.

18. GROUNDWATER CONDITIONS VARY SEASONALLY. THE CONTRACTOR 1S REQUIRED TO REVIEW THE PROJECT SOILS INFORMATION AND /OR
PERFORM A SITE VISIT TO FAMILIARIZE HIMSELF WITH GROUNDWATER CONDITIONS ON -SITE AND WITHIN THE IMMEDIATE AREA. DEWATFRING

HAS BEEN STAMPED AND SIGNED BY A LICENSED PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER OR LICENSED PROFESSIONAL SURVEYOR.
9. BACKFILL SHALL BE PLACED EQUALLY ON BOTH SIDES OF THE PIPE IN LAYERS WITH A LOOSE AVERAGE DEPTH OF 6 INCHES,
MAXIMUM DEPTH OF 8 INCHES, THOROUGHLY TAMPING EACH LAYER TO 95 PERCENT OF MAXIMUM DENSITY. THESE COMPACTED
LAYERS MUST EXTEND FOR ONE PIPE DIAMETER ON EACH SIDE OF THE PIPE OR TO THE SIDE OF THE TRENCH. MATERIALS TO
COMPLETE THE FILL OVER PIPE SHALL BE THE SAME AS DESCRIBED.
10. OPEN CUT ROAD CROSSINGS FOR UTILITY TRENCHES ON EXI S77NG TRAVELED ROADWAY SHALL BE BACKFILLED WITH CRUSHED
ROCK AND MECHANICALLY COMPACTED. CUTS INTO THE EXISTING ASPHALT SHALL BE NEATLINE CUT WITH SAW IN A CONTINUOUS
LINE. A TEMPORARY MIX PATCH MUST BE PLACED IMMEDIATELY AFTER BACKFILL AND COMPACTION. A PERMANENT HOT MIX
PATCH SHALL BE PLACED WITHIN 10 DAYS AND SHALL BE PER CITY OF RENTON CURRENT STANDARDS
11. DATUM SHALL BE CITY OF RENTON, 1988 NA VD.
12. ALL DISTURBED AREAS SHALL BE SEEDED AND MULCHED OR OTHERWISE STABILIZED TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE
DEPARTMENT FOR THE PREVENTION OF ON -SITE EROSION AFTER THE COMPLETION OF CONSTRUCTION.
13. ALL PIPE AND APPURTENANCES SHALL BE LAID ON A PROPERLY PREPARED FOUNDATION IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 7 OF
THE CURRENT STATE OF WASHINGTON STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR ROAD AND BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION. THIS SHALL INCLUDE
NECESSARY LEVELING OF THE TRENCH BOTTOM OR THE TOP OF THE FOUNDATION MATERIAL, AS WELL AS PLACEMENT AND
COMPACTION OF REQUIRED BEDDING MATERIAL, TO UNIFORM GRADE SO THAT THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF THE PIPE WILL BE
SUPPORTED ON A UNIFORMLY DENSE, UNYIELDING BASE. PIPE BEDDING SHALL BE PEA GRAVEL 6 INCHES ABOVE AND BELOW THE
PIPE.
14. SANITARY SEWER PIPE SHALL BE POLYVINYL CHLORIDE (PVC) RUBBER GASKETED ASTIM D 3034, SDR 35, OR DUCTILE IRON
CLASS 50.
15. IN UNIMPROVED AREAS, MANHOLE TO EXTEND MINIMUM 6 INCHES AND MAXIMUM 12 INCHES ABOVE FINISHED GRADE. IN PAVED
