GENERAL UTILITY NOTES
1. ALL IMPROVEMENTS SHALL MEET LOCAL, STATE DOT AND A.P.W.A. STANDARD
SPECIFICATIONS.
2. THE DESIGN SHOWN IS BASED UPON THE ENGINEER'S UNDERSTANDING OF THE
EXISTING CONDITIONS. THIS PLAN DOES NOT REPRESENT A DETAILED FIELD
SURVEY. THE EXISTING CONDITIONS SHOWN ON THIS PLAN SHEET ARE BASED
UPON SURVEY PREPARED BY PACE INC., DATED 10- 16 -06. THE CONTRACTOR
IS RESPONSIBLE FOR VERIFYING FIELD CONDITIONS PRIOR TO BIDDING THE
PROPOSED SITEWORK IMPROVEMENTS. IF CONFLICTS ARE DISCOVERED, THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE OWNER PRIOR TO INSTALLATION OF ANY
PORTION OF THE SITEWORK WHICH WOULD BE AFFECTED. IF CONTRACTOR DOES
NOT ACCEPT EXISTING SURVEY, INCLUDING TOPOGRAPHY, AS SHOWN ON THE
PLANS, WITHOUT EXCEPTION, HE SHALL HAVE MADE, AT HIS OWN EXPENSE, A
TOPOGRAPHIC SURVEY BY A REGISTERED LAND SURVEYOR AND SUBMIT IT TO
THE OWNER FOR REVIEW.
3. CAUTION - NOTICE TO CONTRACTOR
THE CONTRACTOR IS SPECIFICALLY CAUTIONED THAT THE LOCATION AND /OR
ELEVATION OF EXISTING UTILITIES AS SHOWN ON THESE PLANS IS BASED ON
RECORDS OF THE VARIOUS UTILITIES, AND WHERE POSSIBLE, MEASUREMENTS
TAKEN IN THE FIELD. THE INFORMATION IS NOT TO BE RELIED ON AS BEING
EXACT OR COMPLETE. THE CONTRACTOR MUST CALL THE APPROPRIATE UTILITY
COMPANY AT LEAST 48 HOURS BEFORE ANY EXCAVATION TO REQUEST EXACT
FIELD LOCATION OF UTILITIES. IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE
CONTRACTOR TO RELOCATE ALL EXISTING UTILITIES AND EXISTING
IMPROVEMENTS WHICH CONFLICT WITH THE PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS ON THE
PLANS.
4. CONTRACTOR SHALL REFER TO ARCHITECTURAL PLANS FOR EXACT LOCATION
AND DIMENSIONS OF VESTIBULE, SLOPED PAVING, EXIT PORCHES, SIDEWALKS,
RAMPS AND TRUCK DOCKS, PRECISE BUILDING DIMENSIONS AND EXACT
BUILDING UTILITY ENTRANCE LOCATIONS.
5. REFER TO INTERIOR PLUMBING DRAWINGS FOR TIE -IN OF ALL UTILITIES.
6. ALL FILL MATERIAL SHALL BE IN PLACE, AND COMPACTED BEFORE
NSTALLATION OF PROPOSED UTILITIES.
7. CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE U1ILITY AUTHORITIES INSPECTORS 72 HOURS
BEFORE CONNECTING TO ANY EXISTING LINE.
8. MINIMUM WATER AND SANITARY SEWER TRENCH WIDTH SHALL BE 2 FEET.
9. ALL UTILITIES SHOULD BE KEPT TEN (10') APART (PARALLEL) OR WHEN
CROSSING 18" VERTICAL CLEARANCE (OUTSIDE EDGE OF PIPE TO OUTSIDE EDGE
OF PIPE).
10. IN THE EVENT OF A VERTICAL CONFLICT BETWEEN WATERLINES, SANITARY LINES,
STORM LINES AND GAS LINE (EXISTING AND PROPOSED), THE SANITARY LINE
SHALL BE DUCTILE IRON PIPE WITH MECHANICAL JOINTS AT LEAST 10 FEET ON
BOTH SIDES OF CROSSING, THE WATERLINE SHALL BE MECHANICAL JOINTS WITH
APPROPRIATE THRUST BLOCKING AS REQUIRED TO PROVIDE A MINIMUM OF 18"
CLEARANCE, MEETING REQUIREMENTS OF ANSI A21.10 AND ANSI 21.11 (AWWA
C -151) (CLASS 50).
11. LINES UNDERGROUND SHALL BE INSTALLED, INSPECTED AND APPROVED BEFORE
BACKFlLLING.
12. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR COMPLYING WITH THE SPECIFICATIONS OF THE
LOCAL AUTHORITIES WITH REGARD TO MATERIALS AND INSTALLATION OF THE
WATER AND SEWER LINES.
13. ALL NECESSARY INSPECTIONS AND /OR CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED BY CODES
AND /OR UTILITY SERVICE COMPANIES SHALL BE PERFORMED PRIOR TO
ANNOUNCED BUILDING POSSESSION AND THE FINAL CONNECTION OF SERVICE.
14. CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE WITH ALL UTILITY COMPANIES FOR
INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS AND SPECIFICATIONS.
15. CONTRACTOR IS TO PROVIDE TRENCHING, CONDUIT, AND BACKFILL FOR ALL
UNDERGROUND POWER LINE AND VAULTS AS REQUIRED BY UTILITY PROVIDER.
POWER LINES AND POLES TO BE INSTALLED BY UTILITY PROVIDER. SEE SITE
ELECTRICAL PLAN FOR SITE LIGHTING AND FOR PRIMARY ELECTRIC SERVICE
LOCATIONS.
16. GAS PIPING SHOWN FOR COORDINATION ONLY. INSTALLATION OF THE GAS MAIN
AND METER TO BE ACCOMPLISHED BY UTILITY PROVIDER.

SANITARY SEWER NOTES
1. ALL CONSTRUCTION /INSTALLATION OF SANITARY SEWER MAINS SHALL BE DONE
IN A SAFE, NEAT AND PROFESSIONAL MANNER, AND UNDER SUPERVISION OF
CITY FORCES AT ALL TIMES. ALL SAFETY REQUIREMENTS FROM OSHA AND OTHER
STATE REGULATORY AGENCIES MUST BE MET.
2. THE MINIMUM SIZE FOR PUBLIC SEWER MAINS SHALL BE 8" DIAMETER. ALL
SANITARY SEWER PIPING SHALL BE SCHEDULE D3034 PVC OR EQUAL. MINIMUM
PIPE DIAMETER FOR PRIVATE LATERALS IS 4" AND OF SCHEDULE D3034 PVC OR
EQUAL. ALL SANITARY SEWER LATERALS MUST BE PROPERLY MARKED AT ENDS.
3. CONNECTIONS INTO THE EXISTING SANITARY SEWER MAINS REQUIRE ISSUANCE OF
PUBLIC WORKS PERMIT AND INSPECTION BY THE LOCAL JURISDICTION PRIOR TO
BACKFlLLING.
4. ALL NEW SANITARY SEWER PIPES AND MANHOLES MUST BE THOROUGHLY
CLEANED, INSPECTED AND PRESSURE /VACUUM TESTED AS REQUIRED BY
UTILITY PROVIDER AND GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES WITH JURISDICTION.
ALL TESTS MUST BE WITNESSED AND PASSED BY THE UTILITY PROVIDER
AND GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES WITH JURISDICTION PRIOR TO PLACING
INTO OPERATION.
5. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE TO THE UTILITY PROVIDER ANY
GUARANTEE OR WARRANTY NORMALLY FURNISHED WITH THE PURCHASE
OF ANY MATERIALS USED IN CONNECTION WITH THE PROJECT AT HAND.
WATER NOTES
1. ALL CONSTRUCTION /INSTALLATION OF WATER MAINS SHALL BE DONE IN A
SAFE, NEAT AND WORKMANLIKE MANNER, AND UNDER SUPERVISION BY UTILITY
PROVIDER FORCES AT ALL TIMES. ALL SAFETY REQUIREMENTS FROM OSHA
AND OTHER STATE REGULATING AGENCIES MUST BE MET.
2. WATER MAIN PIPE MATERIAL SHALL BE CLASS 52 DUCTILE IRON OR PVC PIPE
MEETING LOCAL REQUIREMENTS. POLYETHYLENE WRAP IS REQUIRED ON ALL
METALS.

TELEPHONE NOTES
1. CONTRACTOR TO PROVIDE TRENCHING, BACKFILL, 2 - 4" PVC SCHEDULE 40
CONDUITS, AND PULLING WIRES FOR UNDERGROUND TELEPHONE SERVICE FROM
EXISTING FACILITIES AS SHOWN ON PLANS. ALL CONDUITS MUST BE EQUIPPED
WITH A MINIMUM 200 LB. TEST CALIBRATED PULL TAPE. CONTRACTOR TO
COORDINATE INSTALLATION AND POINT OF CONNECTION WITH UTILITY PROVIDER.
2. LONG RADIUS SWEEPS FOR TELEPHONE CONDUIT ARE TO BE USED IN MAIN
TRENCH SECTIONS AND STANDARD RADIUS SWEEPS (10 TIMES CONDUIT
DIAMETER) MAY BE USED AT PEDESTAL LOCATIONS. THE ENDS OF ALL
CONDUITS MUST BE SEALED TO KEEP WATER AND DEBRIS OUT PRIOR TO CABLE
PLACEMENT.
3. IF STEEL OR IRON PIPE IS USED FOR TELEPHONE CONDUIT IS USED BETWEEN
THE BUILDING AND PROPERTY LINE, THE PIPE MUST BE KEPT FREE OF CONTACT
WITH ANY REINFORCING STEEL OR OTHER CONDUCTORS WITHIN THE BUILDING
FOUNDATION WALL.
4. TELEPHONE CONDUITS PLACED IN THE SAME TRENCH WITH POWER SUPPLY
CONDUCTORS /CONDUITS MUST BE SEPARATED BY A MINIMUM OF 12" OF .
COMPACTED SOIL OR 3" OF SLURRY.
5. WATER /GAS PIPE, FLEX CONDUIT OR PLUMBING FITTINGS SHALL NOT BE USED.
6. TELEPHONE BACKBOARD SHALL BE 3/4" THICK, 48 "X48" FIRE RESISTANT
PLYWOOD. MAINTAIN 6 " -8" CLEAR FROM FLOOR /CEILING, AND 36" CLEAR IN
FRONT OF BACKBOARD.
7. PROVIDE #6 AWG SOILD CORE COPPER GROUND WIRE, BARE OR WITH GREEN
INSULATION ONLY, FROM THE BACKBOARD LOCATION CONNECTED TO THE
POWER COMPANY'S MULTI - NEUTRAL GROUND SOURCE.
8. CONSTRUCTION WORK ON TELEPHONE SUPPORTING STRUCTURE MUST BE
COMPLETED AND INSPECTED A MINIMUM OF 30 DAYS PRIOR TO THE DATE
THAT TELEPHONE SERVICE WILL BE REQUIRED. THIS INCLUDES ANY SERVICE
REQUIRED TO AQUIRE A CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY.
9. CONTACT QWEST AT 206.345.2968 AT LEAST 48 -HOURS IN ADVANCE TO
SCHEDULE AN INSPECTION.
10. ALL INSIDE WIRING MUST MEET MINIMUM STANDARD OF 4 PAIR (8 "
CONDUCTOR) #24 AWG COLOR CODED TWISTED PAIR COPPER WIRE AND EACH
MUST BE IDENTIFIED BY UNIT# AT THE TELEPHONE BACKBOARD LOCATION.
AN 18 -INCH MINIMUM SEPARATION IS REQUIRED ON SERVICE TAPS ON A MAIN
LINE.
CLASS 52 DUCTILE IRON MAY BE DIRECT TAPPED FOR 3/4 INCH AND
1 -INCH SIZE SERVICES. SADDLES SHALL BE USED ON ALL TAPS 1 -1/4"
- 2" DIAMETER IN ANY PUBLIC MAIN.
ALL ELBOWS /BENDS ON WATER MAINS SHALL HAVE THRUST BLOCKS.
A DEPTH OF 48" FROM FINISHED GRADE TO THE TOP OF THE WATER MAIN IS
REQUIRED. PLACING WATER LINES SHALLOWER THAN 48' IS PROHIBITED.
ALL NEW PIPES MUST BE PROPERLY FLUSHED, PRESSURE TESTED, AND
CHLORINATED BY THE CONTRACTOR, AND INSPECTED BY UTILITY PROVIDER
AND GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES WITH JURISDICTION.
ALL BACKFLOW PREVENTION DEVICES (DOUBLE CHECK BACKFLOW PREVENTORS,
REDUCED PRESSURE BACKFLOW PREVENTORS, PRESSURE AND ATMOSPHERIC
VACUUM BREAKERS, ETC.) MUST BE APPROVED BY THE UTILITY PROVIDER AND
GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES WITH JURISDICTION.
9. ALL NEW CONNEC11ONS TO EXISTING WATER MAINS REQUIRE ISSUANCE OF A
PUBLIC WORKS PERMIT AND INSPECTION BY THE CITY OR GOVERNMENTAL
AGENCIES WITH JURISDICTION PRIOR TO BACKFlLLING
10. BACKFLOW PREVENTION DEVICES SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED OF CORROSION

FIBER OPTIC NOTES
1. THE CONDUIT SHALL BE 2" DIAMETER CARLON TYPE "DB" DIRECT BURIAL
TELEPHONE DUCT OR 2" SCHEDULE 40 PVC. INSTALL GALVANIZED PULL WIRE
OR PURPLE PROPYLPOLYETHYLENE ROPE WITH A MINIMUM PULLING TENSION
OF 100 POUNDS. THE MINIMUM BURIAL DEPTH SHALL BE 24 ". INSTALL AN
ORANGE DETECTABLE HAZARD TAPE WITH INTEGRAL "BURIED FIBER OPTIC
CABLE" WORDING, 12" ABOVE THE CONDUIT.
2. ALL CHANGES IN DIRECTION OF THE CONDUIT WILL REQUIRE LONG FACTORY
SWEEPS (NOT STANDARD SWEEPS) WITH RADIUS NOT LESS THAN 10 TIMES
THE DIAMETER OF THE CONDUIT. NO MORE THAN TWO 90- DEGREE BENDS
WILL BE ALLOWED BETWEEN PULLING POINTS, OR A TOTAL OF 180 DEGREES
COMBINED IN SEVERAL BENDS. PULL BOXES SHALL BE LOCATED EVERY 450
FEET UNLESS THE COMBINED TOTAL OF BENDS REQUIRES ADDITIONAL BOXES.
CONDUIT SHOULD ENTER AND EXIT THE PULL BOXES 180 DEGREES APART.
3. ALL PULL BOXES LOCATED IN PAVED AREAS SUBJECT TO TRUCK TRAFFIC
SHALL BE "H -20" LOAD RATED. THE TYPICAL PULL BOX SIZE WILL BE 18" X
24" X 24 ". DEEPER BOXES MAY BE REQUIRED WHEN THE CONDUIT ALIGNMENT
IS AFFECTED BY OTHER UTILITIES. THE PULL BOX SHALL BE INSTALLED PER
THE MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATIONS WITH A CONCRETE COLLAR AND A
MINIMUM OF 8" OF GRAVEL COMPACTED PER PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS.
4. IF USING A PULL BOX TO CHANGE DIRECTION, THE MINIMUM BOX SIZE SHALL
BE 48" X 48" X 24" PRE -CAST CONCRETE WITH SEPARATE MANHOLE LID
AND COLLAR.
5. A PULL BOX SHALL BE LOCATED AS CLOSE TO THE BUILDING AS POSSIBLE,
WITH A SWEEP MAKING THE VERTICAL BEND INTO THE STORE.
6. THE CONDUIT SHALL BE TERMINATED WITH A PULL BOX AT THE EDGE OF THE
STATION LEASE AREA AS DESIGNATED ON THE STATION PLANS OR BY THE
SPECIAL PROJECTS MANAGER.
