CODES, AND STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR ROAD, BRIDGE, AND MUNICIPAL
CONSTRUCTION, 1994 EDITION (WSDOT AND APWA) AND CITY OF RENTON STDS.
2. CONTRACTOR SHALL ACQUIRE AND PAY FOR ALL SPECIALTY PERMITS
SUCH AS ELECTRICAL, PLUMBING, TRANSPORTATION, BURNING, N.P.D.E.S. AND
OTHER PERMITS OF A TEMPORARY NATURE RELATING TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE

PROJECT.
3. SUBMIT TO ENGINEER FOR ALL METAL FABRICATIONS, PRECAST
CONCRETE ELEMENTS AND MECHANICAL /ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT, SIX COPIES OF SHOP
DRAWINGS OR MANUFACTURER'S LITERATURE INDICATING NAME OF MANUFACTURER,
MATERIALS OF CONSTRUCTION, FABRICATION DETAILS, DIMENSIONS, WEIGHTS,
PERFORMANCE DATA, SPECIFICATIONS, ELECTRICAL WIRING DIAGRAMS AND OTHER
DATA AS REQUIRED BY THE ENGINEER.
4. SUBMIT TO ENGINEER PRIOR TO START -UP SIX COPIES OF OPERATION

AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS ON ALL MECHANICAL /ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT.

PERFORMANCE TEST OF THE FACILITIES CONSISTING OF INDIVIDUAL TEST AND
CONDUCTORS NO. 10 AWG AND SMALLER. FOR NO. 8 AWG AND LARGER CONNECTORS,
CHECKS MADE ON EQUIPMENT INTENDED TO PROVIDE PROOF OF PERFORMANCE OF UNITS
AND PROPER OPERATION OF UNIT CONTROLS TOGETHER WITH SUCH NECESSARY TEST TO
ASSURE PROPER ALIGNMENT, SIZE, CONDITION, CAPABILFIY, STRENGTH, PROPER

ADJUSTMENT, LUBRICATION, PRESSURE, HYDRAULIC TEST, LEAKAGE TESTS AND ALL
OTHER CHECKS DEEMED NECESSARY BY THE ENGINEER TO DETERMINE THAT ALL
MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT ARE SPECIFIED QUALITY. PROPERLY SITUATED, ANCHORED
AND IN ALL RESPECTS READY FOR USE. AFTER TESTING, CONTRACTOR SHALL START
UP THE FACILITY. WHICH SHALL CONSIST OF TESTNG BY A SIMULATED OPERATION
OF ALL OPERATIONAL EQUIPMENT AND CONTROLS. THE PURPOSE OF THESE TESTS
SHALL BE TO CHECK THAT ALL EQUIPMENT WILL FUNCTION UNDER OPERATING
CONDITONS, THAT ALL INTERLOCKING CONTROLS AND SEQUENCES ARE PROPERLY SET
AND THAT THE FACILITY WILL FUNCTION AS AN OPERATING UNIT. FACTORY
REPRESENTATIVES OF ALL MAJOR UNITS WILL BE PRESENT FOR THE TESTING AND
START -UP. THE TEST SHALL CONTNUE UNTIL IT IS DEMONSTRATED THAT ALL
TYPICAL -SEE NOTES
DYSFUNCTION OF CONTROLS AND MACHINERY ARE CORRECTED.
6. THE PUMP STATON WET WELL IS CLASSIFIED AS AN EXPLOSIVE
ENVIRONMENT. ALL MECHANICAL /ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT AND CONSTRUCTON IN THE
WET WELL SHALL MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE FOR
CLASS 1, DIVISION 1, GROUP D AREAS.
7. CONCRETE IN BOTTOM FILLETS AND TOP SLAB TO BE 6 SACK (3000
P.S.I. MIN.) MIX CONCRETE. INTERIOR TO BE STEEL TROWEL FINISH AND SHAPED

L All work materials shall be in conformance with the standards and specifications of the City of Renton and the latest
edition of the WSDOT /APWA Standards and Specifications.
2. The hours of work in the street rightof -way shall be limited to 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on .weekdays unless otherwise
approved in writing by the Transportation Division at 277-6222. All seras closures, partial or full, shall be approved
by the Transportation Division 24 hours in advance. The Police Department, Fire Department, and 911 shall be
notified 24 hours in advance.
3. All construction shall be in accordance with "Standard Spccificatiam for Municipal Public Works Construction"
prepared by Washington State Chapter American, Public Works Association, latest edition (APWA) and City of
Rahton Standard Specifi —oas.
4. All locations o£existing utilities shoua are approximate and it shall be the contractor's responsibility to verify the true
and correct location so as to avoid damage or dirn� r+>r.ce.
5. A preconstruction conference and a 24 hour notice shall be required prior to starting new construction- It shall be the
contractors responsibility to secure all neces;- permits prior to starting construction. (Inspection will be
accomplished by a representative of the City of Renton.) It shall be the contractor's responsibility to notify the City
Inspector 24 hours in advance of backfilling all construction.
6. Contractor is solely responsible for the means, methods and sequences of construction and for the safety of workers
and others on the construction site.
7. It shall be the responsibiliry of the contractor to obtain street use and any other related permits prior to any
construction.
S. Plans approved by the City of Renton, Development Services Division, shall take precedence over all other plans.
9. A copy of these approved plans must be on the job site whenever construction is in progress.
10. The contractor shall provide the City of Renton with an as -built drawing of the sanitary sewer system which has been
Stamped and signed by a licensed professional engineer or licensed professional surveyor.
if. Backfill shall be placed equally on both sides of the pipe in layers with a loose average depth of 6 inches, rtazinnurri
depth of 8 inches, thoroughly tamping each layer to 95 percent of maximum density. These compacted layers must
extend for one pipe diameter on each side of the pipe or to the side of the trench. Materials to complete the fill over
pipe shall be the same as described.
12. Open cut road crossings for utility trenches on existing traveled roadway shall be backfilled with crushed rock and
mechanically compacted. Cuts into the existing asphalt shall be neadine cut with saw in a continuous line. A
temporary mix patch must be placed immediately after backfill and compaction. A pemancht hot mix patch shall be
placed within 10 days and shall be per City of Rennin current standards.
13. Datum shall be City of Renton, U.S.C. and G.S.
14. All disturbed areas shall be seeded and mulched or otherwise stabilized to the satisfaction of the Department for the
prevention ofon -sue erosion after the complevan ofcorstruction
15. All pipe and appurtenances shall be land on a properly prepared foundation to accordance with Section 7 -02 t(1) of
the current State of Washington Standard Specifiwtions for Road and Bridge Construction. This shall incluUe
necessary leveling of the trench bottom or the top of die foundation material as well as placement and compaction of
required bedding material to uniform grade so that the entire length of the pipe will be supported on a uniformly dense
unyielding base. Pipe bedding shall be pea gm'vel 6" above and below• the pipe.
