POLE BASE MOUNTING DETAILS, EXCEPT USE 4 -BOLT
PATTERN.
2. THE STRAP TEMPLATES SHALL BE HELD IN PLACE BY
NUTS, 6" FROM THE TOP OF THE FOUNDATION AND 3"
FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE ANCHOR BOLTS. 18
HEAVY DUTY HEX NUTS AND 6 PLATE WASHERS ARE
REQUIRED FOR A FIXED BASE ASSEMBLY.
3. THIS DESIGN IS NOT VALID FOR SLOPES STEEPER THAN
2H:1V. SLOPES STEEPER THAN THIS SHALL REQUIRE A
SPECIAL DESIGN.
4. THE LUMINAIRE POLE HEIGHT SHALL NOT EXCEED 50'
(H1).
5. FOUNDATIONS CONSTRUCTED WITHIN ECOLOGY
EMBANKMENTS SHALL BE INCREASED IN DEPTH BY THE
DEPTH OF THE ECOLOGY EMBANKMENT.
6. EXPOSED PORTIONS OF THE FOUNDATION SHALL BE
FORMED TO CREATE A CLASS 2 SURFACE FINISH. ALL
FORMING SHALL BE REMOVED UPON COMPLETION

7. FOR CASING OPTIONS, SEE METHOD 1 AND METHOD 2
BELOW. CONTRACTOR SHALL ASSUME THE SPECIAL

2. CONSTRUCTION METHODS FOR POLE FOUNDATIONS TYPICALLY INVOLVE DRILLING
A VERTICAL SHAFT WITH A SINGLE - FLIGHT AUGER DRILL RIG, PLACING A
REINFORCING STEEL CAGE INTO THE DRILLED HOLE, AND FILLING THE HOLE WITH
CONCRETE.
3.TWO METHODS OF CASING REMOVAL ARE OUTLINED BELOW.
a. METHOD 1: THE CASING SHOULD BE PULLED OUT AS CONCRETE IS PLACED
IN THE HOLE, WHILE A SUFFICIENT HEAD OF CONCRETE IS MAINTAINED
INSIDE THE CASING TO PREVENT CAVING AND SLOUGHING OF THE HOLE.
b.METHOD 2: THE CASING SHOULD BE PULLED IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE
PLACEMENT OF THE CONCRETE, AND THE HOLE IS TOPPED OFF WITH
CONCRETE AFTER THE CASING HAS BEEN REMOVED.
