GENERAL SEWER AND DRAINAGE NOTES
1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY THE LOCATION AND ELEVATION OF THE
EXISTING SIDE SEWER OR SERVICE DRAIN AT THE POINT OF CONNECTION
PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL IMMEDIATELY NOTIFY
THE AHJ INSPECTOR AND OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE OF ANY
DISCREPANCIES.
2. UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE ON PLANS, PIPE MATERIALS FOR SANITARY SIDE
5. BEDDING FOR PIPES AND STRUCTURES SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH
AHJ STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS. BEDDING MATERIAL FOR PVC PIPE
SHALL BE MECHANICALLY COMPACTED TO 95% OF MAXIMUM DRY DENSITY
AS MEASURED BY ASTM D -698.
6. TEES ON NEW PIPE LESS THAN 24" DIAMETER SHALL BE PREFABRICATED.
TEES ON EXISTING PIPE OR ON NEW PIPE WITHOUT PREFABRICATED TEES
SHALL BE CONNECTED BY CORE DRILLING AND FLEXIBLE CONNECTION. SEE
SPECIFICATIONS.
7. TEES, CATCH BASIN CONNECTIONS, SIDE SEWERS, AND SERVICE DRAINS
SHALL BE PLACED AT A MINIMUM SLOPE OF 2% AND A MAXIMUM SLOPE
OF 50% UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED ON THE PLANS.
8. SERVICE DRAINS AND SIDE SEWERS SHALL BE CONNECTED OR
RECONNECTED AS APPROVED BY THE AHJ INSPECTOR.
9. RELAY EXISTING SERVICE DRAINS AND SIDE SEWERS TO CLEAR OVER OR
UNDER THE NEW UTILITY AS APPROVED BY THE AHJ INSPECTOR.
10. WHERE A NEW PIPE CLEARS AN EXISTING OR NEW UTILITY BY 6" OR LESS,
POLYETHYLENE PLASTIC FOAM SHALL BE PLACED AS A CUSHION BETWEEN
THE UTILITIES.
11. PROVIDE DUCTILE IRON PIPE SLEEVE WHERE SS, SSS, OR SD PASSES
UNDERNEATH OR THROUGH ANY FOOTINGS, STEM WALLS, RETAINING WALLS,
OR ROCKERIES.
12. A SEPARATE SEWER /DRAINAGE SIDE SEWER PERMIT FROM THE AHJ IS
REQUIRED. AT THE TIME OF APPLYING FOR THIS PROJECT'S SIDE SEWER
PERMIT THE APPROVED AHJ PLAN COVER SHEET AND DRAINAGE CONTROL
PLAN SET MUST BE PRESENTED WITH PERMIT APPLICATION.
13. PROVIDE FITTINGS, AS REQUIRED, TO CONNECT TO EXISTING UTILITIES IN
RIGHT -OF -WAY.
14. PROVIDE SWEEPING TEES OR WYES AT ALL PIPE TO PIPE CONNECTION
LOCATIONS.
15. ADJUST RIM ELEVATION OF CATCH BASINS, AREA DRAINS AND CLEANOUT
CASTINGS TO MATCH SURROUNDING GRADES, UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.
16. COORDINATE CONNECTION OF SANITARY SIDE SEWER WITH MECHANICAL
PLANS. PROVIDE FITTINGS AS REQUIRED TO MAKE CONNECTION.

1. THE STORM DRAINAGE SYSTEM SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED ACCORDING TO THE
APPROVED DRAINAGE CONTROL PLAN IN THE APPROVED BUILDING PERMIT
PLAN SET, WHICH IS ON FILE WITH THE AHJ. ANY DEVIATION FROM THE
APPROVED PLANS WILL REQUIRE WRITTEN APPROVAL FROM THE AHJ AND
THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE.
2. A COPY OF THE APPROVED DRAINAGE CONTROL PLANS MUST BE ON THE
JOB SITE WHENEVER CONSTRUCTION IS IN PROGRESS.
3. ALL REQUIRED STORM WATER FACILITIES MUST BE CONSTRUCTED AND IN
OPERATION PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION OF IMPERVIOUS SURFACING UNLESS
OTHERWISE APPROVED BY THE AHJ AND THE OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE.
4. CONNECT ALL ROCKERY, WALL, AND BUILDING FOOTING DRAINS TO THE
STORM SYSTEM AT A CATCH BASIN UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.
5. PROVIDE FOOTING DRAIN CLEANOUTS AT A MAXIMUM 100' ON CENTER AND
PROVIDE NO FEWER THAN TWO PER STRUCTURE. COORDINATE LOCATION
WITH THE OWNER'S ARCHITECT AND ENGINEER. CONTRACTOR SHALL
DOCUMENT AS -BUILT LOCATION OF INSTALLED CLEANOUTS ON
CONTRACTOR'S AS- BUILTS. MAINTAIN AS- BUILTS AS WORK PROGRESSES.
6. ROOF DOWNSPOUT TIGHTLINES CONVEYING STORMWATER FROM ONE
DOWNSPOUT SHALL BE OF 4 -INCH DIAMETER PVC STORM DRAIN. ROOF
DOWNSPOUT TIGHTLINES CONVEYING STORMWATER FROM TWO OR MORE
DOWNSPOUTS SHALL BE OF 6 -INCH DIAMETER PVC STORM DRAIN.
7. TYPE 1 AND TYPE 2 CATCH BASIN STRUCTURES PER THE CITY OF RENTON

1. REDIRECT SHEET FLOW, BLOCK DRAIN INLETS AND /OR CURB OPENINGS IN
PAVEMENT AND INSTALL FLOW DIVERSION MEASURES TO PREVENT
CONSTRUCTION SILT LADEN WATER AND DEBRIS FROM ENTERING
EXCAVATIONS AND FINISH SURFACES FOR BIORETENTION FACILITIES AND
POROUS PAVEMENTS.
2. WHERE AMENDED SOILS, BIORETENTION FACILITIES, POROUS PAVEMENTS,
AND OTHER INFILTRATION FACILITIES ARE INSTALLED, THESE AREAS MUST BE
PROTECTED AT ALL TIMES FROM BEING OVER COMPACTED. IF AREAS
BECOME COMPACTED, REMEDIATE AND TILL SOIL IN ACCORDANCE WITH
OWNER'S GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER REPRESENTATIVE REQUIREMENTS AT NO
ADDITIONAL COST TO OWNER IN ORDER TO RESTORE INFILTRATION.
3. INSTALL FLOW DIVERSION MEASURES OUTSIDE OF THE CRITICAL ROOT ZONE
OF TREES TO BE PROTECTED. AT NO TIME SHALL CONSTRUCTION
STORMWATER BE DIRECTED TO TREES TO BE PROTECTED. CONSTRUCTION
STORMWATER SHALL NOT POND WITHIN A TREE'S CRITICAL ROOT ZONE.
WATER SERVICE NOTES
1. ALL MATERIALS FOR WATER DISTRIBUTION SHALL BE NEW.
2. APPLY FOR AND PAY ALL FEES ASSOCIATED WITH OBTAINING NEW WATER
SERVICES. COORDINATE WITH CITY OF RENTON.
3. ALL WATER SERVICE PIPING ON PRIVATE PROPERTY MUST BE INSPECTED BY
CITY OF RENTON PRIOR TO BACKFILLING TRENCH.
4. COORDINATE CONNECTION OF FIRE AND WATER SERVICES WITH

NPDES /ECOLOGY PERMIT NOTES
1. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL APPLY FOR THE NATIONAL POLLUTANT DISCHARGE
ELIMINATION SYSTEM AND STATE WASTE DISCHARGE GENERAL PERMIT FOR
STORMWATER DISCHARGES ASSOCIATED WITH CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY
(NPDES PERMIT) THROUGH WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF ECOLOGY.
2. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT A NOTICE OF INTENT TO COMPLY WITH
ECOLOGY'S BMP'S IN ACCORDANCE WITH NPDES PERMIT. THE CONTRACTOR
SHALL ALSO PUBLISH A NOTICE ON TWO SEPARATE DAYS IN THE
NEWSPAPER WHICH HAS GENERAL CIRCULATION IN THE COUNTY IN WHICH
THE CONSTRUCTION IS TO TAKE PLACE. THE NOTICE MUST ANNOUNCE THAT
THE PROJECT IS SEEKING COVERAGE UNDER ECOLOGY'S GENERAL PERMIT.
PRE - CONSTRUCTION MEETING
PRIOR TO ANY CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SCHEDULE
AND ATTEND A PRE - CONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE WITH THE CITY OF RENTON.
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE OWNER AND THE OWNER'S PROFESSIONAL
ENGINEERING CONSULTANTS OF THE PRE - CONSTRUCTION MEETING TIME AND
