THE CONSTRUCTION CHANNELIZATION SHOWN AND THE CONSTRUCTION SEQUENCING LISTED IN STAGE 1A, 1B & 2 GENERAL NOTES ON THIS SHEET IS INTENDED TO DEMONSTRATE A POSSIBLE GENERAL COURSE OF ACTION. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DEVELOP PHASING SUITABLE TO THEIR OPERATION AND SUBMIT A TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN FOR REVIEW. 2. THE CONSTRUCTION CHANNELIZATION SHOWN IS INTENDED TO MEET THE MINIMUM LANE REQUIREMENTS DURING DAYTIME HOURS. THE NUMBER OF LANES AND TURN POCKET LENGTHS SHOWN MAY NOT BE REDUCED DURING THESE HOURS. LANE CLOSURES ARE RESTRICTED TO THE HOURS AS SPECIFIED IN THE SPECIAL PROVISIONS. DRIVING SURFACES AND DAYTIME CHANNELIZATION ARRANGEMENTS MUST BE RE- ESTABLISHED PRIOR TO DAYTIME HOURS. TRAFFIC CONTROL CONFIGURATIONS FOR NIGHTWORK ARE NOT SHOWN ON THESE PLANS. TRAFFIC CONTROL PLANS FOR NIGHTWORK MUST BE SUBMITTED TO THE ENGINEER AND WSDOT FOR APPROVAL. 3. THIS PLAN DEPICTS GENERAL CONSTRUCTION CHANNELIZATION ONLY. 4. CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES NOT SPECIFICALLY SEQUENCED SHALL BE CONDUCTED IN A MANNER TO MINIMIZE PUBLIC IMPACT. FULL PROGRESS SCHEDULES IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 1 -08.3 OF THE SPECIFICATIONS ARE NECESSARY FOR ITEMS INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, STORM DRAINS, UTILITY TRENCHING AND OTHER ITEMS AFFECTING TRAFFIC OR AGENCY COORDINATION. 5. ALL CHANNELIZATION SHOWN IS SCHEMATIC ONLY. DETAILED TRAFFIC CONTROL PLANS CONFORMING TO THE MUTCD AND WSDOT STANDARD PLANS SHALL BE SUBMITTED BY THE CONTRACTOR FOR APPROVAL BY THE ENGINEER AND WSDOT AS SPECIFIED IN THE SPECIAL PROVISIONS. 6. CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN EXISTING DRAINAGE, WATER, AND UTILITY SYSTEMS OR CONSTRUCT TEMPORARY SYSTEMS UNTIL FINAL SYSTEMS ARE FULLY OPERATIONAL. 7. PROJECT SIGNS SHALL BE PLACED AT CONSTRUCTION LIMIT LOCATIONS AS SPECIFIED BY THE ENGINEER AND SHALL BE USED DURING ALL CONSTRUCTION PHASES. FOR SIGN DETAILS, SEE THIS SHEET. SEE SPECIAL PROVISIONS. 8. "BUSINESS OPEN DURING CONSTRUCTION" SIGNS SHALL BE PLACED AT BUSINESS ACCESSES AS SHOWN ON THE PLANS AND SHALL BE USED DURING ALL CONSTRUCTION PHASES. SEE SHEET 50 FOR BUSINESS ACCESS SIGN DETAILS. SEE SPECIAL PROVISIONS. 9. TRAFFIC SAFETY DRUMS SHALL BE SPACED AT 35 FT. MAXIMUM INTERVALS ON CENTERS. FLASHERS SHALL BE MOUNTED ON ALTERNATING DRUMS. ADDITIONAL DRUMS AT CLOSER SPACING WILL BE REQUIRED AT INTERSECTIONS AND DRIVEWAYS TO SAFELY CHANNELIZE THE TRAFFIC. 10. DIFFERENT STAGES WILL REQUIRE ADJUSTING VEHICULAR SIGNAL HEADS AT THE INTERSECTION OF N PARK DRIVE AND GARDEN AVENUE N. ADJUSTMENT OF THESE VEHICULAR SIGNAL HEADS SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR AND COORDINATED WITH THE CITY TRANSPORTATION MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT. PRIOR TO ALL VEHICULAR SIGNAL HEAD ADJUSTMENT, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT TRANSPORTATION MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT SUPERVISOR DAVE WHITMARSH AT (425) 430 -7423. 11. MATERIAL FOR ALL TEMPORARY PAVEMENT MARKINGS SHALL BE PAINT. 12. ALL CONSTRUCTION SIGNING, STRIPING AND CHANNELIZATION DEVICES SHALL BE PER MUTCD AND WSDOT STANDARD PLANS AND EXISTING REGULATORY SIGNS SHALL BE ADJUSTED AS NECESSARY TO MAINTAIN VISIBILITY TO DRIVERS DURING CONSTRUCTION. ALL CONFLICTING SIGNS SHALL BE COVERED OR REMOVED. 13. ALL CONFLICTING PAVEMENT MARKINGS SHALL BE REMOVED. FINAL CHANNELIZATION SHALL BE INSTALLED PER SHEETS 33 - 36. ALL EXISTING CHANNELIZATION THAT IS REMOVED TO ACCOMMODATE THE CONSTRUCTION CHANNEUZAT10N PLANS SHALL BE REPLACED IN KIND, WHERE NOT SHOWN ON THE CHANNELIZATION PLANS, AND AS DIRECTED BY THE ENGINEER. 14. THE CONTRACTOR IS REQUIRED TO PROVIDE PEDESTRIAN ACCESS PER SECTION 1- 08.3(1)B OF THE SPECIAL PROVISIONS. 15. MAINTAIN DRIVEWAY ACCESS TO BUSINESSES. 16. ENCROACHMENT ON TRAVELED LANES IS NOT ALLOWED. 17. FLOODLIGHTS SHALL BE PROVIDED TO MARK FLAGGER STATIONS AT NIGHT. 18. STEADY BURNING WARNING LIGHTS (TYPE C MUTCD) SHALL BE USED TO MARK CHANNELIZATION DEVICES AT NIGHT. 19. CHANNELIZATION DEVICES SHALL BE EXTENDED TO A POINT WHERE THEY ARE VISIBLE TO APPROACHING TRAFFIC. 20. ABRUPT PAVEMENT EDGES OF 0.20 FT (2.5 ") OR GREATER TRANSVERSE TO THE ROADWAY SHALL BE WEDGED ACCORDING TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF SECTION 1 -07, LEGAL RELATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES TO THE PUBLIC. 21. MAINTAIN MINIMUM TRAVEL LANE WIDTHS OF 11 FEET WHERE NOT SHOWN BY A CROSS - SECTION. 22. PROTECT VALVE BOXES, MANHOLE LIDS, & CB LIDS WHEN EXPOSED PRIOR TO FINAL GRADING AND PAVING.
