EMERGENCY POWER FOR CCTF 2013 PROJECT
GENERAL NOTES
1. CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS
ALL MATERIALS, WORKMANSHIP, DESIGN, AND CONSTRUCTION SHALL CONFORM TO THE
CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS, TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS, THE LATEST EDITION OF THE
INTERNATIONAL BUILDING CODE, THE RENTON MUNICIPAL CODE, AND THE CITY OF RENTON
STANDARD PLANS & SPECIFICATIONS.
2. CONSTRUCTION SAFETY
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL TAKE ALL NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC AND PREVENT
NUISANCES WHILE PERFORMING CONSTRUCTION WORK ON THIS PROJECT. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE
TEMPORARY BRACING FOR THE STRUCTURE AND STRUCTURAL COMPONENTS UNTIL ALL FINAL
CONNECTIONS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PLANS.
3. EXISTING FACILITIES AND UTILITIES
a. EXISTING FACILITIES: DURING CONSTRUCTION THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ACCESS TO THE
EXISTING FACILITIES UNTIL THE PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS ARE OPERATIONAL AND APPROVED IN
WRITING BY THE OWNER.
b. ALL UTILITIES: EXISTING UTILITIES INDICATED ANYWHERE ON THE DRAWINGS HAVE BEEN PLOTTED FROM
THE BEST INFORMATION AVAILABLE TO THE ENGINEER AND SURVEYOR. THE SOURCE OF INFORMATION
GENERALLY CONSISTS OF CONSTRUCTION RECORDS, UTILITY LOCATES, AND OTHER DATA OBTAINED
VERBALLY FROM OFFICIALS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PARTICULAR UTILITY. OWNER AND ENGINEER DO NOT
GUARANTEE NOR ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE ACCURACY OF THIS INFORMATION. IT IS
UNDERSTOOD THAT OTHER ABOVE GROUND AND UNDERGROUND FACILITIES NOT SHOWN ON THE
DRAWINGS MAY BE ENCOUNTERED DURING THE COURSE OF THE WORK. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY
THE TRUE AND CORRECT LOCATION OF EXISTING UTILITIES TO AVOID DAMAGE OR DISTURBANCE. THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL REPAIR ALL DAMAGED UTILITIES IMMEDIATELY.
4. PRE - CONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE
A PRE - CONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE AND TWENTY -FOUR HOUR NOTICE WILL BE REQUIRED PRIOR TO
STARTING CONSTRUCTION. PRE - CONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE REQUIREMENTS FOR SPECIFIC WORK
ITEMS ARE NOTED IN THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS.
5. PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS
a. PERMITS: THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SECURE ALL NECESSARY PERMITS PRIOR TO STARTING
CONSTRUCTION. SEE SPECIFICATIONS FOR FURTHER INFORMATION REGARDING PERMITS.
b. INSPECTION: THE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN ALL BUILDING DEPARTMENT INSPECTIONS DURING
CONSTRUCTION. SOME OF THE INSPECTIONS WILL BE PERFORMED BY A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE CITY OF
RENTON. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY THE OWNER 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF ANY BACKFILLING OR
COVERING OF CONSTRUCTION.
6. MAINTAINING FACILITY OPERATIONS
EACH FACILITY HAS A RESTRICTION FOR ALLOWABLE DOWNTIME DURING CONSTRUCTION OF THE
PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS. SEE TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION DIVISION 1.72 FOR SCHEDULING AND
SEQUENCING.
7. CONTRACTOR INITIATED CHANGES
CHANGES SHALL BE SUBMITTED IN WRITING TO THE OWNER FOR APPROVAL PRIOR TO FABRICATION
OR CONSTRUCTION. CHANGES SHOWN ON SHOP DRAWINGS ONLY, WILL NOT SATISFY THIS
REQUIREMENT.
8. TRAFFIC CONTROL NOTES
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLE ACCESS TO ALL STREETS WITHIN AND
ADJACENT TO THE CONSTRUCTION SITES. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE 48 -HOUR NOTICE TO
EMERGENCY DEPARTMENTS WHICH MAY BE AFFECTED BY ACTIONS OF THE CONTRACTOR.
AT NO TIME SHALL ACCESS TO ANY OF THE FACILITIES BE CLOSED DURING CONSTRUCTION.
9, DAILY CLEANUP
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CLEANUP ALL AREAS AFFECTED BY CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES ON A DAILY BASIS
TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE OWNER. THIS INCLUDES REMOVAL OF ALL DUST, MUD, ROCKS, ASPHALT
DEBRIS, AND REFUSE FROM STREETS, SIDEWALKS, DRIVEWAYS, AND ANY OTHER AREAS AFFECTED BY THE
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES. FAILURE TO CLEANUP TO THE SATISFACTION OF THE OWNER WILL NECESSITATE
A SHUTDOWN OF THE PROJECT UNTIL CLEANUP IS PROPERLY PERFORMED.
10. CONSTRUCTION STAGING AREAS
THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE WITH THE OWNER FOR DETERMINING THE LOCATION OF
CONSTRUCTION STAGING AREAS.

GENERAL NOTES
1. CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS
