ORDINANCE NO. 5693
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, VACATING A
PORTION OF RIGHT OF WAY, SUNSET LANE NE FROM NE lOTH STREET TO
HARRINGTON AVENUE NE (RENTON HOUSING AUTHORITY; VAC-13-001}.
WHEREAS, a proper petition for vacating a portion of right of way 19 feet wide and
6,170 square feet in area, located on Sunset Lane NE from NE 10th Street to Harrington Avenue
NE, was filed with the City Clerk on April 19, 2013, and that petition was signed by the owners
representing more than two-thirds (2/3) of the property abutting upon the street to be
vacated; and
WHEREAS, the City Council, by Resolution No. 4183, passed on May 20, 2013, set June
17, 2013, at 7:00p.m., in the City Council Chambers of the City of Renton as the time and place
for a public hearing on this matter; and the City Clerk having given proper notice of this hearing
as provided by law, and all persons having been heard who appeared to testify in favor or in
opposition on this matter, and the City Council having considered all information and
arguments presented to it; and
WHEREAS, the Administrator of the Department of Community and Economic
Development has considered this petition for vacation, and has found it to be in the public
interest and for the public benefit, and that no injury or damage to any person or properties
will result from this vacation; and

WHEREAS, the City Council adopts the recommendation of the Department of
Community and Economic Development to waive all compensation for the street vacation as
the City will be receiving dedications along Sunset Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, this street vacation will help achieve construction of the Highlands Library
Mixed-Use Project;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The following described right of way located on Sunset Lane NE from NE
10th Street to Harrington Avenue NE, to wit:
See Exhibits A and B attached hereto and made a part hereof as if fully set forth herein:
(Sunset Lane NE from NE 10th Street to Harrington Avenue NE).
is hereby vacated.
SECTION II. Compensation is waived for this right of way vacation.
SECTION Ill. This ordinance shall be effective upon its passage, approval, and five (5)
days after publication.
A certified copy of this ordinance shall be filed with the Office of Records and Elections,
and as otherwise provided by law.
