ORDINANCE NO. 5654
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AMENDING SECTION
3-1-4 OF CHAPTER 1, EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT, SECTIONS 3-4-3 AND 3-4-5 OF
CHAPTER 4, FINANCE AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT, OF
TITLE III (DEPARTMENTS AND OFFICERS) AND TITLES I - X OF ORDINANCE NO.
4260 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON", BY CHANGING ALL REFERENCES TO "FINANCE AND
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY" TO "ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES" AND MOVING
THE CITY CLERK'S OFFICE TO THE ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DEPARTMENT.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. Titles l-X of Ordinance No. 4260 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of
the City of Renton, Washington", are hereby amended to change all references of "Finance and
Information Technology" to "Administrative Services".
SECTION II. Section 3-1-4, City Clerk Office, of Chapter 1, Executive Department, of
Title III (Departments and Officers) of Ordinance No. 4260 entitled "Code of General Ordinances
of the City of Renton, Washington", is hereby deleted in its entirety and Section 3-1-4 is marked
"reserved".
SECTION III. Section 3-4-3, Duties of Administrator, of Chapter 4, Administrative
Services Department, of Title III (Departments and Officers) of Ordinance No. 4260 entitled
"Code of General Ordinances of the City of Renton, Washington", is hereby amended as
follows:
3-4-3 DUTIES OF ADMINISTRATOR:
The duties of the Administrator shall be to plan, organize, coordinate and
direct the City's financial, fiscal, print, voice, data and information technologyi

and the City Clerk's activities. The work included in this shall be preparation of
the City's budget; oversight of all procedures and policies and activities
associated with the City's annual audit by the State Auditor's Office with the
completion of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report; oversight of all
investments; development and implementation of information technology
strategies; maintenance of all voice and data communications; oversight of work
plans; providing relevant information to the Mayor and City Council; and the
supervision and evaluation of the performance of assigned personnel.
SECTION IV. Section 3-4-5, Divisions, of Chapter 4, Administrative Services
Department, of Title III (Departments and Officers) of Ordinance No. 4260 entitled "Code of
General Ordinances of the City of Renton, Washington", is hereby amended by adding a new
subsection C, entitled "City Clerk Office", to read as follows:
C. CITY CLERK OFFICE:
li Office Established And Appointment: There is hereby established the
office of the City Clerk. The position of City Clerk shall be filled by appointment
by the Mayor and confirmation by a majority of the City Council.
2. Duties: The City Clerk shall have all of the powers granted and duties
imposed by authority of the laws of the state and ordinances of the City now
existing or subsequently adopted. The City Clerk shall be a full-time, non-civil
service position who shall be in charge of the City Clerk's Office. The City Clerk,
or deputy as assigned by the City Clerk, shall attend all meetings of the City
Council and keep a complete record of the proceedings thereof: and have

custody of the City's seal, the original roll of ordinances, the original contracts,
deeds and certificates relative to the title of any property of the City and such
other records or documents as are required to be deposited with the City. The
City Clerk shall attest all public instruments and official acts of the Mayor and
shall provide certified copies of original records as may be required and make
such charge therefor as provided by ordinance.
3. Qualifications: The City Clerk must have those qualifications deemed
necessary for this job by the Mayor, indicated on the City's City Clerk job
classification.
SECTION V. This ordinance shall be effective upon its passage, approval, and thirty
(30) days after publication.
