RESOLUTION NO. 4130
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE
MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ENTER INTO AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH
PUBLIC HEALTH - SEATTLE AND KING COUNTY ENTITLED "REGIONAL DISASTER
PLAN AGREEMENT".
WHEREAS, the City and Public Health - Seattle and King County ("PHSKC") are
authorized, pursuant to RCW Chapter 39.34, entitled "Interlocal Cooperation Act" to enter into
an interlocal government cooperative agreement; and
WHEREAS, in a large to catastrophic disease outbreak, bioterrorist attack, or natural or
man-made disaster, PHSKC would serve as a primary organization for the medical response in
King County, as designated in Emergency Support Function 8 of the Regional Disaster Plan; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Regional Disaster Plan Agreement, during a disaster, PHSKC
would be responsible for dispensing medication, providing shelter, providing medical care to
King County residents throughout the county, including the City of Renton; and
WHEREAS, to enable PHSKC to provide the mentioned services and assistance, in the
Regional Disaster Plan Agreement, the City of Renton has agreed to provide PHSKC with
temporary use of sites such as the Renton Community Center; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to execute an agreement to designate the facilities, define a
method for developing a security plan, define the terms for initiation of use of the facilities, and
establish the responsibilities of each organization during an incident;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DOES
RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects.
SECTION II. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to enter into an
interlocal agreement with PHSKC entitled "Regional Disaster Plan Agreement".
