HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 4121CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 4121 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ENTER INTO AN INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY OF SEATTLE FOR THE MUTUAL SALE AND PURCHASE OF WATER DURING AN EMERGENCY. WHEREAS, the City of Renton and the City of Seattle, also referred to as Seattle Public Utilities, entered into an Agreement for the Sale of Water in an Emergency in 2002, which is set to expire by December 31, 2011; and WHEREAS, the City of Renton and the City of Seattle have entered into a long-term contract (2012-2062) by which the City of Seattle will provide water supply to the City of Renton even though the City of Renton supplies most of its retail water service area with its own and independent sources of water supply; and WHEREAS, the City of Renton and the City of Seattle mutually agree to provide and sell water to each other during an emergency event, subject to the availability and quantity of water to be sold; and WHEREAS, it would be in the public best interest to have the Agreement executed; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects. SECTION II. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute the Agreement for the Sale of Water in an Emergency with the City of Seattle 1 RESOLUTION NO. 4121 PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 1Qth day of October ^ 2011.
