CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
ORDINANCE NO. 4986
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AMENDING SECTIONS 2-10-2, 2-10-4, AND 2-10-5, OF CHAPTER 10,
PLANNING COMMISSION, OF TITLE II (COMMISSIONS) OF
ORDINANCE NO. 4260 ENTITLED "CODE OF GENERAL
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON" BY
REDUCING THE NUMBER OF PLANNING COMMISSION MEMBERS
TO SEVEN AND UPDATING THE TITLES OF CITY DEPARTMENTS
AND DIVISIONS.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. Section 2-10-2, Appointment, of Chapter 10, Planning
Commission, of Title II (Commissions) of Ordinance No. 4260 entitled "Code of General
Ordinances of the City of Renton, Washington" is hereby amended to read as follows:
APPOINTMENT:
The Planning Commission shall consist of seven (7) members, appointed by the Mayor
and confirmed by a majority of the members of the City Council. All Planning Commission
members shall be residents of the City of Renton.
The present appointive members of the Planning Commission shall remain in office for
the balance of their presently existing terms. Thereafter the term of each appointee shall be for
three (3) years and such appointment shall be made on July 1 and February 1 respectively for
such three (3) year terms.
SECTION II. Sections 2-10-4 and 2-10-5 of Chapter 10, Planning Commission,
of Title II (Commissions) of Ordinance No. 4260 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the
City of Renton, Washington" are hereby amended to read as follows:
2-10-4 OFFICERS; MEETINGS; STAFFING:
ORDINANCE NO. 4986
A. The Planning Commission shall elect its own chair, vice-chair, and secretary. It
may create and fill such other offices as it may determine from time to time.
B. The Commission shall hold at least twelve (12) regular meetings in each year.
C. The Strategic Planning Division shall function as staff for the Planning
Commission in the completion of plans and projects contained in their coordinated work
programs.
2-10-5 EXPENDITURES; BUDGET:
The expenditures of the Planning Commission shall be limited to those authorized by the
Economic Development, Neighborhoods and Strategic Planning Administrator as appropriated in
the Strategic Planning Division's annual budget. The services and facilities of the City's
Strategic Planning Division shall be utilized by the Commission in performing its duties.
SECTION III. This ordinance shall be effective upon its passage, approval, and
30 days after publication.
