RESOLUTION NO. 3534
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, TO
AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ENTER INTO AN
AGREEMENT BETWEEN KING COUNTY AND THE CITY OF
RENTON TO IMPLEMENT A TRANSIT SIGNAL PRIORITY PROJECT
IN THE CITY OF RENTON.
WHEREAS, the City has undertaken a project to upgrade its traffic management system
in a manner that supports intelligent transportation system capabilities; and
WHEREAS, the City and County agree that transit signal prioritization is an important
intelligent transportation system tool that supports optimizing the efficient use of the arterial
street system, including improving the speed and reliability of transit; and
WHEREAS, the City has secured Washington State Transportation Improvement Board
(TIB) funding to upgrade its traffic control system and implement Transit Signal Priority at
selected intersections; and
WHEREAS, the County has agreed to contribute a portion of the match required to
secure the TIB grant fund; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary by agreement to establish the terms and conditions of the
County grants;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The above findings are true and correct in all respects.

SECTION II. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to enter into an
agreement between King County and the City of Renton to implement a Transit Signal Priority
Project in the City of Renton.
