RESOLUTION NO. 2793
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO ENTER INTO AN
INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT WITH THE WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT
OF TRANSPORTATION AND A LETTER OF AGREEMENT WITH METRO.
WHEREAS, the City of Renton, Washington, has experienced
significant traffic volumes in the area of the North Renton
interchange; and
WHEREAS, the building of an HOV bypass lane has been proposed
as one method of helping to resolve the heavy traffic burdens on
the North Renton interchange; and
WHEREAS, there is need to study the feasibility of building
the HOV bypass lane in the area of the North Renton interchange;
and
WHEREAS, the state of Washington through the Washington State
Department of Transportation and Metro desire to participate in the
funding of the study; and
WHEREAS, it would be in the best interests of the city of
Renton to participate in that study.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and
correct in all respects .
SECTION II. The Mayor and City Clerk of the City of Renton,
Washington, are hereby authorized to enter into an interlocal
agreement with the Washington State Department of Transportation to
study the feasibility of building an HOV bypass lane in the area of
the North Renton interchange.

SECTION III. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized
to enter into a letter of agreement with Metro to help fund the
study of the feasibility of building an HOV bypass lane in the area
of the North Renton interchange.
