HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 3345 CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO.3 3 4 5 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, EXTENDING A MORATORIUM ON RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT IN THE CENTER SUBURBAN LAND USE DESIGNATION IMPLEMENTED BY CENTER SUBURBAN (CS), RESIDENTIAL MULTI-FAMILY SUBURBAN CENTER (RM-C) ZONING CLASSIFICATIONS, THE CENTER NEIGHBORHOOD LAND USE DESIGNATION IMPLEMENTED BY CENTER NEIGHBORHOOD (CN), RESIDENTIAL MULTI-FAMILY NEIGHBORHOOD (RM-N) ZONING CLASSIFICATIONS, AND THE EMPLOYMENT AREA-COMMERCIAL LAND USE DESIGNATION IMPLEMENTED BY THE COMMERCIAL ARTERIAL (CA) ZONE CLASSIFICATION, ESTABLISHING A PUBLIC HEARING DATE, AND ESTABLISHING A TERMINATION DATE FOR THE MORATORIUM. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Renton, Washington, did establish a moratorium on residential development in the Suburban Center (CS), Neighborhood Center (CN), Residential Multi-Family Suburban Center (RM-C), _Residential Multi-Family Neighborhood (RM-N), and Commercial Arterial (CA) zones; and WHEREAS, that moratorium is due to expire, according to its terms on September 9, 1998; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Renton is not scheduled to meet on August 31 and September 7, 1998; and WHEREAS, the analysis of capacity and conditions for the further development of residential development in the affected zones has not been completed; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Renton wishes to hold a public hearing on whether or not it would be appropriate to extend the moratorium; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects. RESOLUTION NO. 3 3 4 5 SECTION II. The moratorium on residential development in the CS, CN, RM-C, RM-N and CA zone classifications is continued until the City Council can formally take action to continue or rescind the moratorium following a public hearing. SECTION M. There is hereby established a public hearing date on September 14, 1998, to accept public testimony on whether or not the City should continue this moratorium, at which time the City Council will formally adopt legislation to continue or rescind this moratorium.
