RESOLUTION NO. 3355
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
EXPRESSING SUPPORT FOR THE SUBMISSION BY KING COUNTY
OF A LEVY PROPOSAL TO THE VOTERS ON NOVEMBER 3 1998, TO
FUND A FAMILY POOL.
WHEREAS,the Henryses Pool was closed last summer after forty-four years of
m'y rtY
service to the community; and
WHEREAS, a Task Force was appointed to develop a recommendation regarding the
future of a public swimming pool in Renton; and
WHEREAS, the Task Force recommended constructing a new family outdoor pool in
Cedar River Park located just northeast of the Renton Community Center; and
WHEREAS, the City Council approved the Task Force recommendation in December of
1997 and agrees that a voter-approved property tax is an appropriate funding mechanism to
finance the construction of the pool; and
WHEREAS, a recent survey indicated the public's interest in replacing and financing a
new family pool; and
WHEREAS, the City Council approved placing a pool bond issue on the November 3,
1998 ballot; and
WHEREAS, the City will soon retire some bonds so that this new bond issue will not
increase property taxes above the current level;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The above recitals are found to be true and correct in all respects.

SECTION II. The City Council supports the pool bond issue on the November 3, 1998
ballot to generate funds to construct and equip a family pool in Renton at a cost of$4,000,000
which shall be payable from annual property tax levies which will not increase property taxes
above the current level.
