RESOLUTION NO. 3256
A RESOLUTION OF . THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
-AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE FOR AN
OUTDOORRECREAT.ION PROJECT TO THE INTERAGENCY COMMITTEE
FOR..,.OUTDOOR._ RECREATION AS PROVIDED BY THE WASHINGTON
WILDLIFE,_ AND. RECREATION PROGRAM (CEDAR' RIVER REGIONAL
:PARK ATHLETIC. FIELD LIGHTING) .
WHEREAS, the City.. Council of the City of Renton, Washington,
has approved a "Comprehensive Park and Recreation Plan" for the
urban area which identified a need for a community park along the
Cedar River in the eastern part of the City; and
WHEREAS,.. under the_ provisions of the .Washington Wildlife and
Recreation: Program,s_ ' state and federal -funding assistance have
been authorized_. and' made available to aid in financing the cost
of land for - parks and- the construction of outdoor recreational
facilities of local public bodies; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Renton considers it
in the best public interest to install lighting on the athletic
fields at the Cedar River Regional Park to increase the amount of
playing time available for public use on these fields, and also
to include lighting along the entry drive and parking lot
supporting these athletic fields;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I . The above recitals are found to be true and
correct in all respects .

SECTION II. The Mayor is hereby authorized to make formal
application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation
for funding assistance.
SECTION III . ' Any funding assistance so received shall be
used to :design . and install athletic field lights, together with
entry -drive and parking lot lights, at the City' s Cedar River
Regional Park located at the corner of 149th Avenue S .E. and the
Maple Valley Highway in the City of Renton, Washington.
SECTION IV. The City' s share of the project will be
derived from the City' s Municipal Facilities Capital Improvement
Fund.
SECTION V. Any facility developed with financial aid
through_the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation shall be
placed in use as an outdoor recreation facility and be retained
for such use in perpetuity, unless as otherwise provided and
agreed to by the Renton City Council, the Interagency Committee
for Outdoor Recreation and any affected federal agency.
SECTION VI . This resolution shall become part of a formal
application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation.
SECTION VII . Adequate notification has been given and
opportunity provided for public input.
SECTION VIII . The site plan for the Cedar River Regional
Park has been adopted by the City Council as part of the Master
Plan for the Cedar River Trail Natural Zone .

SECTION IX. The City of Renton does hereby certify that
the City is the owner of the Cedar River Regional Park, and based
on current knowledge provides assurance that there are no
encumbrances on the land which would restrict the recreational
use of the facilities identified in this application.
