RESOLUTION NO. 3257
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON,
"AUTHORIZING APPLICATION TO KING COUNTY FOR SUPPLEMENTAL
". 'COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FLOOD RELIEF FUNDS TO
COMPLETE A..BANK STABILIZATION PROJECT IN THE CITY OF
" .RENTON, .WASHINGTON (CEDAR RIVER BANK STABILIZATION
PROJECT) .
WHEREAS, .$3. million in supplemental King County Community
Development Block Grant flood relief funds have been made
available to assist homeowners, suburban cities and King County
recover from damages caused by the October/November, 1995 and
January, 1996 federally declared disasters; and
_WHEREAS, .funds for public improvements are made available in
. the form of grants. . to .public . agencies through an application
process; and
WHEREAS, the emphasis for public improvements will be on
projects that meet an urgent need, will prevent future damage to
public facilities, or will eliminate a threat to public safety;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Renton has
identified an erosion problem along the south bank of the Cedar
River, across from the Carco Theatre, which meets the criteria
set forth for this program, and considers it in the best public
interest to seek funding assistance to resolve this problem;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS :

SECTION I . The above recitals are found to be true and
correct in all respects .
SECTION II . The Mayor is hereby authorized to make formal
application to King County for funding assistance.
SECTION III . Any funding assistance so received will be
used to complete the Cedar River Bank Stabilization Project along
the south bank of the Cedar River in the City of Renton,
Washington.
SECTION IV. No new source of City funds are identified.
All funds to complete the Cedar River Bank Stabilization Project
will be derived from the supplemental King County Community
Development Block Grant flood relief funds .
SECTION V. This resolution shall be made available as
part of a formal application to King County.
