RESOLUTION NO. 3291
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, REQUESTING THE CITY ' OF NEWCASTLE,
.WASHINGTON, TO ANNEX CERTAIN AREAS CURRENTLY WITHIN THE
CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF RENTON; SPECIFYING THE
CONTINUING OBLIGATION OF PROPERTIES WITHIN SUCH
•ANNEXATION FOR EXISTING BONDED INDEBTEDNESS.
.WHEREAS, a number of residents and property owners of an area
of Renton have requested secession from the City of Renton for the
purpose of annexing to the City of Newcastle; Iand
WHEREAS, at the time the subject properties annexed to the
City of Renton, surrounding unincorporated areas were anticipated
to annex to • Renton to create a more logical city boundary; and
WHEREAS, areas north, south and east of the subject
. properties subsequently incorporated as the City of Newcastle; and
WHEREAS, the current location of the common corporate
boundary between the City of Renton and the City of Newcastle is
irregular; and •
WHEREAS, the current boundary is difficult for residents,
businesses, and public officials to recognize and use; and
WHEREAS, the current irregular boundary limits the ability of
the respective jurisdictions to plan for future land use and
logical service areas; and
WHEREAS, realigning and simplifying the common boundary would
be in the mutual interest of Renton and Newcastle; and

WHEREAS, a realigned boundary would provide more logical
service areas, including emergency service response areas; and
WHEREAS, a realigned boundary would clarify land use planning
responsibilities and provide more logical mailing addresses; and
WHEREAS, RCW 35. 10 .217 provides for ' annexation through
reciprocal resolutions by the legislative bodies of two cites; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of Renton voted to assume certain
bonded obligations;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON,
WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I . The above recitals are found to be true and
correct in all respects .
SECTION II . The City of Renton hereby establishes intent
to realign and simplify its common boundary with the City of
Newcastle according to the resolution annexation method set forth
in RCW 35 . 10 .217 .
SECTION III . The City of Renton formally requests that the
City of Newcastle annex certain areas currently within the limits
of the City of Renton and described as follows, to wit :
See Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made apart hereof as
if fully set forth.
(Property located generally north and south of N.E. 51st
and N.E. 50th Streets, between Lake Washington Boulevard
N.E . and 114th Avenue S .E. )
upon the ceding of such territory to the City of Newcastle by the
City of Renton.

SECTION IV. This request for annexation is contingent upon
Newcastle annexing all lands shown in Exhibit A.
SECTION V. Pursuant to RCW 35. 10 . 331, owners of
properties annexed from Renton to Newcastle , will continue to be
liable for a pro rata share of Renton' s bonded indebtedness
incurred prior to the date of annexation until such time as that
indebtedness is retired.

Renton/Newcastle Boundary Adjustment
Legal Description
That portion of the Southeast Quarter of Section 29, Township 24 North, Range 5 East, W.M.,
in King County, Washington described as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the north line of said Southeast Quarter with the westerly right-
of-way margin of Lake Washington Boulevard NE, being a point on the City Limits of Renton
as annexed by Ordinance 1823;
Thence westerly alongsaid north line, and along said CityLimits, to an intersection with the
northerly projection of the east line of Lot 169 of C. D. Hillman's Lake Washington Garden of
Eden Division No. 3 as recorded in Volume 11 of Plats, page 81, records of King County,
Washington;
Thence southerly along said northerly projection and said east line of Lot 169, and along said
City Limits, to an intersection with the northeasterly right-of-way line of NE 51st Street ( SE
73rd Place);
Thence southeasterly along said northeasterly right-of-way line of NE 51st Street, and along
said City Limits, to an intersection with the westerly right-of--way margin of 112th Avenue SE;
Thence northerly along said westerly right-of-way margin of 1112th Avenue SE Street, and along
said City Limits, to an intersection with a line parallel with and 462 feet south of the north line
of Lot 153 of said Plat;
Thence easterly along said parallel line, and along said City Limits, crossing 112th Avenue SE to
an intersection with the west line of Lot 146 of said Plat;
Thence northerly along said west line, and along said City Limits, to the northwest corner of
said Lot 146;
Thence easterly along the north line of said Lot 146, and along said City Limits, to the northeast •
corner of said Lot 146;
Thence southerly along the east line of said Lot 146 and its southerly production, and along said
City Limits, to an intersection with the easterly projection of the south right-of-way line of NE
50th Street( SE 74th Street);
Thence westerly along said projected south right-of-way line and said south right-of-way line,
