Home My WebLink AboutORD 3692 CITY OF RENTON, ti•IASHINGTON ORDINANCE NO . 3692 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, AMENDING CHAPTER 3 OF TITLE VIII (HEALTH AND SANITATION) OF ORDINANCE NO . 1682 LNTITIED "CODE OF GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF RENTON" RELATING TO REVISED RATES TKE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS : SECTIOPd I : ExistingSubsectior:sA and B of Section 8-309 of Title VIII (Health and Sanitation) of Ordinance No . 1628 entitled "Code of General Ordinances of the City of Penton" are hereby amendeu. as follows : Section 8-309 (A) , as amended : RATE FOR CHARGES : The following schedule is hereby adopted as the charges to be paid to the City for services rendered for each category : (A) Collection of garb�.g e , refuse and swill from residentJ . dwellings shall be made once a week and the charges therefor shall be as follows : 1 . For "garbage cans" and/or "garbage units" as herein defined , placed not more than twenty five feet (25 ' ) from the edge of street , curb or alley abutting or adjoining unit serviced . Not more than 1 can per week $ 5 . 44+ per month Not more than 2 cans per week 5 . 94 per month Each adaitional can per week 1 . 13 per month Extra units 1 . 13 per pickup 2 . For "garbage cans" and/or "garbage units" as herein defined , placed more tl-ian twenty five feet (25 ' ) but less than sixLy feet (60' ) from tele edge of the street , curb , or alleyway abutting or adjoining unit serviced : Not more than 1 can per week $ 6 . 71 per month Not more than 2 cans per week 7 . 81 per rhonth Each additional can per week 1 . 13 per month Extra Units 1 . 13 per pickup 3 . For "garbage cans" and/or "garbage units" as herein defined , that are placed more than sixty feet (60 ' ) from the edge of street , curb , or alley abutting or adjoining unit serviced : Not more than 1 can per week $ 7 . 00 per month Not more than 2 cans per week 8 . 40 per month Each additional can per week 1 . 13 per month Extra units 1 . 13 per pickul, 4 . All categories in Section 8-309 (A) 1 , 2 , and 3 are subject to a flat $1 . 00 fee for Senior Citizens who qualify for the "Senior Citizen Rate" as established by Ordinance No . 2946 , to-wit : a . Every single person , sixty two (62) years of age or older , and every single person , substantially and permanently disabled residing in a single family dwelling , either as owner or purchaser , whose income from all sources is Six Hundred Dollars and six cents ($600 . 06) per month , or less and Seven Thousand Two Hundred dollars and seventy- six cents ($7 , 200 . 76) per annum or less . The maximum figure shall increase whenever there is an increase in Social Security benefits in an amount proportionate to the increase in the Social Security benefits . b . Every married couple , constituting a marital community , residing in a single family dwelling either as owner or purchaser , and both spouses being sixty two (62) years of age or older and substantially and permanently disabled , while the other spouse is under the age of sixty two (62) , and whose total income from all sources is Nine Hundred Dollars and fourteen cents ($900 . 14) per month or less , and Ten Thousand Eight Hundred One Dollars and eighty-one cents ($10 , 801 . 81) per annum or less . This maximum figure shall increase whenever there is an increase in Social Security Benefits in an amount proportionate to the increase in the Social Securitv benefits . C . Every such person (if married , then either spouse) shall file with the Utilities Department of the City , his or her statement , under oath, that he , she or they are qualified to be charged. the special rate for such garbage collection services hereinabove stated , and such statement to contain such other information as the Utilities Department may prescribe , including residence address , ownership or interest in dwelling occupied by such applicant or applicants , or rental unit , as the case may be , the amount , source and nature of all income from any and all sources , together wit.i the applicant ' s unqualified promise to forthwith notify the City of any circumstances or change in condition_ wIlic:I would make t'-,e applicant or ap?'_i_cants i.nel. i.�,ib1e to receive s�:ii.d spec:i ai rates . All of such information shall be treated in conf:icic and all such applications and staterinents shall onlybe available for inspection by authorized personnel._ of the City . The Utilities Department shall have the right , w'_-ienever deemed necessary , to require such statement on an annual basis . Section 8-309 (B) , as amended : (B) Collection of garbage , refuse and swill from business firms and commercial enterprises shall be made eac'_z weekday and tiie c'.iarges to be as follows : 1 . For "garbage cans" and/or "garbage units" as herein defined - one dollar six cents (31 . 06) Per can picked un . 2 . The minimum monthly charge for each such business or commercial_ account shall be the sun of Seven Dollars Forty three cents ($7 . 43) Per. month. 3 . The rate for the dandling of hydraulic handled containers approved by the City ' s contractor and the City for the use by commercial , industrial and multiple dwelling establishments s"Iaii be as follows : 1 yard container $ 5 . 46. The rate for handling temporary contractor drop boxes shall be as follows : 20 yard container $ 45 . 95 per pickup plus dump fee 30 yard container 49 . 20 per pickup plus dump fee 40 yard container 52 . 50 per pickup plus dump fee Minimum Pickup Temporary Contractor Drop Boxes - Twice per month SECTION II : Any and all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed . SECTION III : This Ordinance shall be effective upon the January , 1983 billing and upon its passage , approval and five days after its publication .
