1. ALL WORK AND WORK MATERIAL SMALL BE IN CONFORMANCE WITH THE STANDARDS AND
SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CITY OF RENTON PLANNING/BUILDING/PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT AND
THE LATEST EDITION OF THE WSDOT/APWA STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS, AS APPROVED AND
DIED BY THE CITY OF RENTON IN THE RENTON STANDARD PLANS & SPECIFICATIONS. A SET
OF APPROVED PLANS SHALL BE KEPT ON SITE AT ALL TIMES DURING CONSTRUCTION.
2. THE HOURS OF WORK IN THE STREET RIGHT OF WAY SHALL BE PER CITY SPECIFICATIONS ON
WEEKDAYS UNLESS OTHERWISE APPROVED IN WRITING BY THE PLANNING BUILDMIG
/ /PUBLIC WORKS
DEPARTMENT. AN APPROVED TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN MUST BE OBTAINED PRIOR TO BEGINNING
ANY WORK WITHIN PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY.
3. ALL LOCATIONS OF EXISTING UTILITIES SHOWN ARE APPROXMATE AND IT SHALL BE THE
CONTRACTOR'S RESPONNSLITY TO VERIFY THE TRUE AND CORRECT LOCATION SO AS TO AVOID
DAMAGE OR DISTURBANCE.
4. A PRE -CONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE AND A 24 HOUR NOTICE SMALL BE REQUIRED PRIOR TO
STARTING NEW CONSTRUCTION. IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO SECURE ALL
NECESSARY PERMITS PRIOR TO STARTING CONSTRUCTION. (INSPECTION WILL BE ACCOMPLISHED BY
A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE CITY OF RENTON.) IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO
NOTIFY THE PUBLIC WORKS INSPECTOR 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF BACKFILLING ALL
CONSTRUCTION.
5. CONTRACTOR IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MEMS, METHODS AND SEQUENCES OF
CONSTRUCTION AND FOR THE SAFETY OF WORKERS AND OTHERS ON THE CONSTRUCTION SITE.
6. IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO OBTAIN STREET USE AND ANY OTHER
RELATED PERMITS PRIOR TO ANY CONSTRUCTION.
7. PLANS APPROVED BY THE CITY OF RENTON, PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT SHALL TAKE
PRECEDENCE OVER ALL OTHER PLANS.
8. A COPY OF THESE APPROVED PLANS MUST BE ON THE JOB SITE WHENEVER CONSTRUCTION IS IN
PROGRESS.
9. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE THE CITY OF RENTON WITH AN AS -BUILT DRAINING OF THE
SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM, WHICH HAS BEEN STAMPED AND S"D BY A LICENSED PROFESSIONAL
ENGINEER OR LICENSED PROFESSIONAL SURVEYOR.
10. BACKFILL SHALL BE PLACED EQUALLY ON BOTH SIDES OF THE PIPE IN LAYERS WITH A LOOSE
AVERAGE DEPTH OF 6 INCHES, MAXIMA DEPTH OF 8 INCHES, THOROUGHLY TAMPING EACH
LAYER TO 95 PERCENT OF MAXIMUM DENSITY. THESE COMPACTED LAYERS MUST EXTEND FOR
ONE PIPE DIAMETER ON EACH SIDE OF THE PIPE OR TO THE SIDE OF THE TRENCH. MATERIALS
TO COMPLETE THE FILL OVER PIPE SHALL BE THE SAME AS DESCRIBED.
11. OPEN CUT ROAD CROSSINGS FOR UTILITY TRENCHES ON EXISTING TRAVELED ROADWAY SHALL BE
BACKFILLED WITH CRUSHED ROCK AND MECHANICALLY COMPACTED UNLESS OTHERWISE APPROVED
BY UTILITY SPECIFICATIONS.
12. DATUM FOR VERTICAL CONTROL SHALL BE NORTH AMERICAN VERTICAL DATUM 1968 METERS, AND
FOR HORIZONTAL CONTROL SHALL BE NORTH AFRICAN DATUM 1963/1991 METERS UNLESS
OTHERWISE APPROVED BY THE CITY OF RENTON PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT. REFERENCE
BENCHMARK AND ELEVATIONS ARE NOTED ON THE PLANS.
13. ALL DISTUR13ED AREAS SHALL BE SEEDED AND MULCHED OR OTHERWISE STABILIZED TO THE
SATISFACTION OF THE DEPARTMENT FOR THE PREVENTION OF ON-SITE EROSION AFTER THE
COMPLETION OF CONSTRUCTION.
14. ALL PIPE AND APPURTENANCES SHALL BE LAID ON A PROPERLY PREPARED FOUNDATION IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CITY OF RENTON
PLANNING/BUILDING/PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT AND THE LATEST EDITION OF THE WSDOT/APWA
STAND AND SPECIFICATIONS, AS APPROVED AND MODIFIED BY THE CITY OF RENTON IN THE
RENTON STANDARD PLANS & SPECIFICATIONS. THIS SHALL INCLUDE NECESSARY LEVELING OF THE
TRENCH BOTTOM OR THE TOP OF THE FOUNDATION MATERIAL, AS WELL AS PLACEMENT AND
COMPACTION OF REQUIRED BEDDING MATERIAL, TO UNIFORM GRADE SO THAT THE ENTRE LENGTH
OF THE PIPE WILL BE SUPPORTED ON A UNIFORMLY DENSE, UNYIELDING BASE. PIPE BEDDING
SHALL BE PEA GRAVEL 6 RHES ABOVE AND BELOW THE PIPE.
15. SANITARY SEWER PIPE SHALL BE POLYVINYL CHLORIDE (PVC) RUBBER GASKETED ASTM D 3034,
SDR 35, 0R DUCTILE IRON CLASS 50, UNLESS OTHER APPROVED BY THE WASTEWATER
UTILITY.
16. IN UNIMPROVED AREAS, (MANHOLE TO EXTEND MINIM Mi 6 INCHES AND MAXIMUM 12 INCHES
ABOVE FISHED GRADE OR MUST HAVE MINIMUM 2' DIAMETER CONCRETE RING POURED AT
GRADE. IN PAVED AREA, COVER MUST SLOPE IN ALL DIRECTIONS TO MATCH PAVING.

1. BEFORE ANY CONSTRUCTION OR DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY OCCURS, A PRE -CONSTRUCTION MEETING
MUST BE HELD WITH THE CITY OF RENTON PLAN REVIEWER.
2. ALL CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE 2012 STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR
ROAD, BRIDGE AND MUNICIPAL CONSTRUCTION PREPARED BY WSDOT AND THE AMERICAN PUBLIC
WORKS ASSOCIATION (APWA), AS AMENDED BY THE CITY OF RENTON PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT.
3. THE SURFACE WATER DRAINAGE SYSTEM SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED ACCORDING TO THE APPROVED
PLANS, WHICH ARE ON FILE IN THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT. ANY DEVIATION FROM THE
APPROVED PLANS WILL REQUIRE WRITTEN APPROVAL FROM THE CITY OF RENTON PUBLIC WORKS
DEPARTMENT, SURFACE WATER UTILITY SECTION.

IS COMPLETED AND THE POTENTIAL FOR ON-SITE EROSION HAS PASSED.
7. ALL RETENTION/DETENTION FACILITIES (MUST BE INSTALLED AND IN OPERATION PRIOR TO OR IN
CONJUNCTION WITH ALL CONSTRUCTION ACTMTY UNLESS OTHERWISE APPROVED BY THE PUBLIC
WORKS DEPARTMENT, SURFACE WATER UTILITY SECTION.
8. GRASS SEED MAY BE APPLIED BY HYDROSEEDING. THE GRASS SEED MIXTURE, OTHER THAN CITY
OF RENTON APPROVED STANDARD MiIxES, SHALL BE SUBMITTED BY A LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT AND
APPROVED BY THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, SURFACE WATER UTILITY SECTION.
9. ALL PIPE AND APPURTENANCES SHALL BE LAID ON A PROPERLY PREPARED FOUNDATION IN
ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 7-02.3(1) OF THE CURRENT STATE OF WASHINGTON STANDARD
SPECIFICATION FOR ROAD AND BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION. THIS SHALL INCLUDE NECESSARY LEVELING
OF THE TRENCH BOTTOM OR THE TOP OF THE FOUNDATION MATERIAL, AS WELL AS PLACEMENT
AND COMPACTION OF REQUIRED BEDDMIG MATERIAL, TO UNIFORM GRADE SO THAT THE ENTIRE
LENGTH OF THE PIPE WILL BE SUPPORTED ON A UWORMLY DENSE, UNYIELDING BASE. ALL PIPE
BEDDING SHALL BE APW4A CLASS "C", WITH THE EXCEPTION OF PVC PIPE. ALL TRENCH BACKFILL
SMALL BE COMPACTED TO W41MUM 95% FOR PAVEMENT AND STRUCTURAL FILL AND 90%
OTHERWISE PER ASTM D-1557-70. PEA GRAVEL BEDDING SHALL BE 6 INCHES OVER AND UNDER
PVC PIPE.
10. GALVANIZED STEEL PIPE AND ALUMINIZED STEEL PIPE FOR ALL DRAINAGE FACILITIES SHALL HAVE
ASPHALT TREATMENT #1 OR BETTER INSEE AND OUTSIDE.
11. STRUCTURES SHALL NOT BE PERMITTED WITHIN 10 FEET OF THE SPRING LINE OF ANY STORM
DRAINAGE PIPE, OR 15 FEET FROM THE TOP OF ANY CHANNEL BANK.
12. ALL CATCH BASIN GRATES SMALL BE DEPRESSED 0.10 FEET BELOW PAVEMENT LEVEL.
13. OPEN CUT ROAD CROSSINGS THROUGH EXISTING PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED
UNLESS SPECIFICALLY APPROVED BY CITY OF RENTON PLANNING/BUILDING/PUBLIC WOKS
ADMINISTRATOR.
14. ROCK FOR EROSION PROTECTION OF ROADSIDE DITCHES, WHERE REQUIRED, SMALL BE OF
SOUND QUARRY ROCK PLACED TO A DEPTH OF ONE (1) FOOT AND MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING
SPECIFICATIONS:
4 - 8 ITCH ROCK / 40 - 70% PASSING;
2 - 4 INCH ROCK / 30 - 40% PASSING; AND
LESS THAN 2 INCH ROCK / 10 - 20% PASSING.
15. ALL BUILDING DOWNSPOUTS AND FOOTING DRAINS SHALL BE CONNECTED TO THE STORM(
DRAINAGE SYSTEM, UNLESS AP'PROV'ED BY THE CITY PLAN REVIEWER OR SURFACE WATER UTILITY
SECTION. AN ACCURATELY DIMENSIONED, CERTIFIED AS -BUILT DRAWING OF THIS DRAINAGE
SYSTEM WILL BE SUBMITTED TO THE CITY UPON COMPLETION.
16. ISSUANCE OF THE BUILDING OR CONSTRUCTION PERMITS BY THE CITY OF RENTON DOES NOT
RELIEVE THE OWNER OF THE CONTINIUNNG LEGAL OBLIGATION AND/OR LMLITY CONNECTED WITH
STORM SURFACE WATER DISPOSITION. FURTHER, THE CITY OF RENTON DOES NOT ACCEPT ANY
OBLIGATION FOR THE PROPER FUNCTIONING AND MAINTENANCE OF THE SYSTEM PROVIDED
DURING CONSTRUCTION.
17. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING ADEQUATE SAFEGUARD, SAFETY
DEVICES, PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT, FLAGGERS, AND ANY OTHER NEEDED ACTIONS TO PROTECT
THE LIFE, HEALTH, AND SAFETY OF THE PUBLIC, AND TO PROTECT PROPERTY IN CONNECTION
WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF WORK COVERED BY THE CONTRACT. ANY WORK WITHIN THE
TRAVELED RIGHT OF WAY THAT MAY
INTERRUPT NORMAL TRAFFIC FLOW SHALL REQUIRE A TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN APPROVE BY THE
PUBIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS DIVISION. ALL SECTIONS OF THE
WSDOT STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS 1-07-23 TRAFFIC CONTROL SHALL APPLY.
18. SPECIAL DRAINAGE MEASURES WILL BE REQUIRED IF THE PROJECT LOCATION IS WITHIN THE
AQUIFER PROTECTION AREA (APA).

PROJECT ENGINEER OF RECORD IN WRITING PRIOR TO THE START OF
CONSTRUCTION. FAILURE BY THE CONTRACTOR TO NOTIFY THE PROJECT ENGINEER
SHALL CONSTITUTE ACCEPTANCE OF FULL RESPONSIBILITY BY THE CONTRACTOR
TO COMPLETE THE SCOPE OF WORK AS DEFINED BY THE DRAWINGS AND IN FULL
COMPLIANCE WITH LOCAL REGULATIONS AND CODES.
4. IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO NOTIFY THE APPROPRIATE
UTILITIES INVOLVED PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION.
5. INSPECTION OF BUILDING AND SITE WORK WILL BE ACCOMPLISHED BY A
REPRESENTANVE OF THE CITY OF RENTON. INSPECTION OF SOILS, SUQGRADE,
PAVEMENTS TRENCH BACKFILL AND GENERAL EXCAVATION WILL BE
ACCOMPLISHED BY A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE OWNER. IT SHALL BE THE
CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO NOTIFY THE INSPECTOR 24 HOURS IN
ADVANCE OF BACKFILLING ALL CONSTRUCTION.
6. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PRIOR TO ANY CONSTRUCTION OR DEVELOPMENT
ACTMTY CONTACT THE AGENCY AND/OR UTI-ITY INSPECTION PERSON04EL AND
ANY REOLARED PRE -CONSTRUCTION MEETING(S). CONTRACTOR SHALL
PROVIDE 72 HRS MIN ADVANCE NOTIFICATION TO OWNER, FIELD ENGINEER AND
ENGINEER OF PRE -CONSTRUCTION MEETINGS.
7. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR WORKER AND SITE SAFETY AND SHALL
COMPLY WITH THE LATEST OSHA STANDARDS AND REGULATIONS, OR ANY OTHER
AGENCY HAVING JURISDICTION FOR EXCAVATION AND TRENCHING PROCEDURES.
THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR DETERMINING THE "MEANS AND METHODS"
REQUIRED TO MEET THE INTENT AND PERFORMANCE CRITERIA OF OSHA, AS WELL
AS ANY OTHER ENTITY THAT HAS JURISDICTION FOR EXCAVATION AND/OR
TRENCHING PROCEDURES.
8. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING ADEQUATE
SAFEGUARDS, SAFETY DEVICES, PROTECTIVE EQUWMENT, FLAGGERS, AND ANY
OTHER NEEDED ACTIONS TO PROTECT THE LIFE, HEALTH, AND SAFETY OF THE
PUBLIC, AND TO PROTECT PROPERTY IN CONNECTION WITH THE PERFORMANCE
OF WORK COVERED BY THE CONTRACTOR. ANY WORK WITHIN THE TRAVELED
RIGHT-OF-WAY THAT MAY INTERRUPT NORMAN. TRAFFIC FLOW SHALL REQUIRE AT
LEAST ONE FLAGGER FOR EACH LANE OF TRAFFIC AFFECTED.
9. PROTECTIVE MEASURES SHALL BE TAKEN BY THE CONTRACTOR TO PROTECT
ADJACENT PROPERTIES, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE, AT ALL TIMES DUNNING
CONSTRUCTION. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROTECTION OF
ALL EXISTING UTILITY SERVICES THAT ARE TO REMAIN OPERATIONAL. WITHIN THE
CONSTRUCTION AREA WHETHER SHOWN OR NOT SHOWN ON THE PIANS
10. TWO (2) COPIES OF THESE APPROVED PLANS MUST BE ON THE JOB SITE
WHENEVER CONSTRUCTION IS IN PROGRESS; ONE (1) SET SHALL BE SUBMITTED
TO BARGHAUSEN CONSULTING ENGINEERS., INC., WITH RECORDS OF AS -BUILT
INFORMATION AT COMPLETION OF PROJECT.
11. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE FULLY RESPONSE FOR OBTAINING PERMITS FROM THE
WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES FOR REMOVING AND
REPLACING ALL SURVEY IMONLI MENTATION THAT MAY BE AFFECTED BY
CONSTRUCTION ACTMTY, PURSUANT TO WAC 332-120. APPLICATIONS MUST BE
COMPLETED BY A REGISTERED LAND SURVEYOR. APPLICATIONS FOR PERMITS TO
REMOVE MOI4UMENTS MAY BE OBTAMiED FROM THE WASHINGTON STATE
DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES, OR BY CONTACTING THEIR OFFICE BY

THE LATEST EDITION OF THE WSDOT/APWA STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS, AS APPROVED AND
DIED BY THE CITY OF RENTON IN THE RENTON STANDARD PLANS & SPECIFICATIONS. A SET
OF APPROVED PLANS SHALL BE KEPT ON SITE AT ALL TIMES DURING CONSTRUCTION.
2. THE HOURS OF WORK IN THE STREET RIGHT OF WAY SHALL BE PER CITY SPECIFICATIONS ON
WEEKDAYS UNLESS OTHERWISE APPROVED IN WRITING BY THE PLANNING BUILDMIG

DEPARTMENT. AN APPROVED TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN MUST BE OBTAINED PRIOR TO BEGINNING
ANY WORK WITHIN PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY.
3. ALL LOCATIONS OF EXISTING UTILITIES SHOWN ARE APPROXMATE AND IT SHALL BE THE
CONTRACTOR'S RESPONNSLITY TO VERIFY THE TRUE AND CORRECT LOCATION SO AS TO AVOID
DAMAGE OR DISTURBANCE.
4. A PRE -CONSTRUCTION CONFERENCE AND A 24 HOUR NOTICE SMALL BE REQUIRED PRIOR TO
STARTING NEW CONSTRUCTION. IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO SECURE ALL
NECESSARY PERMITS PRIOR TO STARTING CONSTRUCTION. (INSPECTION WILL BE ACCOMPLISHED BY
A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE CITY OF RENTON.) IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO
NOTIFY THE PUBLIC WORKS INSPECTOR 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF BACKFILLING ALL
CONSTRUCTION.
5. CONTRACTOR IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MEMS, METHODS AND SEQUENCES OF
CONSTRUCTION AND FOR THE SAFETY OF WORKERS AND OTHERS ON THE CONSTRUCTION SITE.
6. IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO OBTAIN STREET USE AND ANY OTHER
RELATED PERMITS PRIOR TO ANY CONSTRUCTION.
7. PLANS APPROVED BY THE CITY OF RENTON, PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT SHALL TAKE
PRECEDENCE OVER ALL OTHER PLANS.
8. A COPY OF THESE APPROVED PLANS MUST BE ON THE JOB SITE WHENEVER CONSTRUCTION IS IN
PROGRESS.
9. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE THE CITY OF RENTON WITH AN AS -BUILT DRAINING OF THE
SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM, WHICH HAS BEEN STAMPED AND S"D BY A LICENSED PROFESSIONAL
ENGINEER OR LICENSED PROFESSIONAL SURVEYOR.
10. BACKFILL SHALL BE PLACED EQUALLY ON BOTH SIDES OF THE PIPE IN LAYERS WITH A LOOSE
AVERAGE DEPTH OF 6 INCHES, MAXIMA DEPTH OF 8 INCHES, THOROUGHLY TAMPING EACH
LAYER TO 95 PERCENT OF MAXIMUM DENSITY. THESE COMPACTED LAYERS MUST EXTEND FOR
ONE PIPE DIAMETER ON EACH SIDE OF THE PIPE OR TO THE SIDE OF THE TRENCH. MATERIALS
TO COMPLETE THE FILL OVER PIPE SHALL BE THE SAME AS DESCRIBED.
11. OPEN CUT ROAD CROSSINGS FOR UTILITY TRENCHES ON EXISTING TRAVELED ROADWAY SHALL BE
BACKFILLED WITH CRUSHED ROCK AND MECHANICALLY COMPACTED UNLESS OTHERWISE APPROVED
BY UTILITY SPECIFICATIONS.
12. DATUM FOR VERTICAL CONTROL SHALL BE NORTH AMERICAN VERTICAL DATUM 1968 METERS, AND
FOR HORIZONTAL CONTROL SHALL BE NORTH AFRICAN DATUM 1963/1991 METERS UNLESS
OTHERWISE APPROVED BY THE CITY OF RENTON PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT. REFERENCE
BENCHMARK AND ELEVATIONS ARE NOTED ON THE PLANS.
13. ALL DISTUR13ED AREAS SHALL BE SEEDED AND MULCHED OR OTHERWISE STABILIZED TO THE
SATISFACTION OF THE DEPARTMENT FOR THE PREVENTION OF ON-SITE EROSION AFTER THE
COMPLETION OF CONSTRUCTION.
14. ALL PIPE AND APPURTENANCES SHALL BE LAID ON A PROPERLY PREPARED FOUNDATION IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CITY OF RENTON
PLANNING/BUILDING/PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT AND THE LATEST EDITION OF THE WSDOT/APWA
STAND AND SPECIFICATIONS, AS APPROVED AND MODIFIED BY THE CITY OF RENTON IN THE
RENTON STANDARD PLANS & SPECIFICATIONS. THIS SHALL INCLUDE NECESSARY LEVELING OF THE
TRENCH BOTTOM OR THE TOP OF THE FOUNDATION MATERIAL, AS WELL AS PLACEMENT AND
COMPACTION OF REQUIRED BEDDING MATERIAL, TO UNIFORM GRADE SO THAT THE ENTRE LENGTH
OF THE PIPE WILL BE SUPPORTED ON A UNIFORMLY DENSE, UNYIELDING BASE. PIPE BEDDING
SHALL BE PEA GRAVEL 6 RHES ABOVE AND BELOW THE PIPE.
15. SANITARY SEWER PIPE SHALL BE POLYVINYL CHLORIDE (PVC) RUBBER GASKETED ASTM D 3034,
SDR 35, 0R DUCTILE IRON CLASS 50, UNLESS OTHER APPROVED BY THE WASTEWATER
UTILITY.
16. IN UNIMPROVED AREAS, (MANHOLE TO EXTEND MINIM Mi 6 INCHES AND MAXIMUM 12 INCHES
ABOVE FISHED GRADE OR MUST HAVE MINIMUM 2' DIAMETER CONCRETE RING POURED AT
GRADE. IN PAVED AREA, COVER MUST SLOPE IN ALL DIRECTIONS TO MATCH PAVING.

1. BEFORE ANY CONSTRUCTION OR DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITY OCCURS, A PRE -CONSTRUCTION MEETING
MUST BE HELD WITH THE CITY OF RENTON PLAN REVIEWER.
2. ALL CONSTRUCTION SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE 2012 STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR

PLANS, WHICH ARE ON FILE IN THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT. ANY DEVIATION FROM THE

IS COMPLETED AND THE POTENTIAL FOR ON-SITE EROSION HAS PASSED.
7. ALL RETENTION/DETENTION FACILITIES (MUST BE INSTALLED AND IN OPERATION PRIOR TO OR IN
CONJUNCTION WITH ALL CONSTRUCTION ACTMTY UNLESS OTHERWISE APPROVED BY THE PUBLIC
WORKS DEPARTMENT, SURFACE WATER UTILITY SECTION.
8. GRASS SEED MAY BE APPLIED BY HYDROSEEDING. THE GRASS SEED MIXTURE, OTHER THAN CITY
OF RENTON APPROVED STANDARD MiIxES, SHALL BE SUBMITTED BY A LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT AND
APPROVED BY THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, SURFACE WATER UTILITY SECTION.
9. ALL PIPE AND APPURTENANCES SHALL BE LAID ON A PROPERLY PREPARED FOUNDATION IN
ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 7-02.3(1) OF THE CURRENT STATE OF WASHINGTON STANDARD
SPECIFICATION FOR ROAD AND BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION. THIS SHALL INCLUDE NECESSARY LEVELING
OF THE TRENCH BOTTOM OR THE TOP OF THE FOUNDATION MATERIAL, AS WELL AS PLACEMENT
AND COMPACTION OF REQUIRED BEDDMIG MATERIAL, TO UNIFORM GRADE SO THAT THE ENTIRE
LENGTH OF THE PIPE WILL BE SUPPORTED ON A UWORMLY DENSE, UNYIELDING BASE. ALL PIPE
BEDDING SHALL BE APW4A CLASS "C", WITH THE EXCEPTION OF PVC PIPE. ALL TRENCH BACKFILL
SMALL BE COMPACTED TO W41MUM 95% FOR PAVEMENT AND STRUCTURAL FILL AND 90%

10. GALVANIZED STEEL PIPE AND ALUMINIZED STEEL PIPE FOR ALL DRAINAGE FACILITIES SHALL HAVE
ASPHALT TREATMENT #1 OR BETTER INSEE AND OUTSIDE.
11. STRUCTURES SHALL NOT BE PERMITTED WITHIN 10 FEET OF THE SPRING LINE OF ANY STORM
DRAINAGE PIPE, OR 15 FEET FROM THE TOP OF ANY CHANNEL BANK.
12. ALL CATCH BASIN GRATES SMALL BE DEPRESSED 0.10 FEET BELOW PAVEMENT LEVEL.
13. OPEN CUT ROAD CROSSINGS THROUGH EXISTING PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED
UNLESS SPECIFICALLY APPROVED BY CITY OF RENTON PLANNING/BUILDING/PUBLIC WOKS
ADMINISTRATOR.
14. ROCK FOR EROSION PROTECTION OF ROADSIDE DITCHES, WHERE REQUIRED, SMALL BE OF
SOUND QUARRY ROCK PLACED TO A DEPTH OF ONE (1) FOOT AND MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING
SPECIFICATIONS:
4 - 8 ITCH ROCK / 40 - 70% PASSING;
2 - 4 INCH ROCK / 30 - 40% PASSING; AND
LESS THAN 2 INCH ROCK / 10 - 20% PASSING.
15. ALL BUILDING DOWNSPOUTS AND FOOTING DRAINS SHALL BE CONNECTED TO THE STORM(
DRAINAGE SYSTEM, UNLESS AP'PROV'ED BY THE CITY PLAN REVIEWER OR SURFACE WATER UTILITY
SECTION. AN ACCURATELY DIMENSIONED, CERTIFIED AS -BUILT DRAWING OF THIS DRAINAGE
SYSTEM WILL BE SUBMITTED TO THE CITY UPON COMPLETION.
16. ISSUANCE OF THE BUILDING OR CONSTRUCTION PERMITS BY THE CITY OF RENTON DOES NOT
RELIEVE THE OWNER OF THE CONTINIUNNG LEGAL OBLIGATION AND/OR LMLITY CONNECTED WITH
STORM SURFACE WATER DISPOSITION. FURTHER, THE CITY OF RENTON DOES NOT ACCEPT ANY
OBLIGATION FOR THE PROPER FUNCTIONING AND MAINTENANCE OF THE SYSTEM PROVIDED
DURING CONSTRUCTION.
17. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING ADEQUATE SAFEGUARD, SAFETY
DEVICES, PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT, FLAGGERS, AND ANY OTHER NEEDED ACTIONS TO PROTECT
THE LIFE, HEALTH, AND SAFETY OF THE PUBLIC, AND TO PROTECT PROPERTY IN CONNECTION
WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF WORK COVERED BY THE CONTRACT. ANY WORK WITHIN THE
TRAVELED RIGHT OF WAY THAT MAY
INTERRUPT NORMAL TRAFFIC FLOW SHALL REQUIRE A TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN APPROVE BY THE
PUBIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS DIVISION. ALL SECTIONS OF THE
WSDOT STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS 1-07-23 TRAFFIC CONTROL SHALL APPLY.
18. SPECIAL DRAINAGE MEASURES WILL BE REQUIRED IF THE PROJECT LOCATION IS WITHIN THE
AQUIFER PROTECTION AREA (APA).

5. INSPECTION OF BUILDING AND SITE WORK WILL BE ACCOMPLISHED BY A
REPRESENTANVE OF THE CITY OF RENTON. INSPECTION OF SOILS, SUQGRADE,
PAVEMENTS TRENCH BACKFILL AND GENERAL EXCAVATION WILL BE
ACCOMPLISHED BY A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE OWNER. IT SHALL BE THE
CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO NOTIFY THE INSPECTOR 24 HOURS IN
ADVANCE OF BACKFILLING ALL CONSTRUCTION.
6. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PRIOR TO ANY CONSTRUCTION OR DEVELOPMENT
ACTMTY CONTACT THE AGENCY AND/OR UTI-ITY INSPECTION PERSON04EL AND
ANY REOLARED PRE -CONSTRUCTION MEETING(S). CONTRACTOR SHALL
PROVIDE 72 HRS MIN ADVANCE NOTIFICATION TO OWNER, FIELD ENGINEER AND
ENGINEER OF PRE -CONSTRUCTION MEETINGS.
7. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR WORKER AND SITE SAFETY AND SHALL
COMPLY WITH THE LATEST OSHA STANDARDS AND REGULATIONS, OR ANY OTHER
AGENCY HAVING JURISDICTION FOR EXCAVATION AND TRENCHING PROCEDURES.
THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR DETERMINING THE "MEANS AND METHODS"
REQUIRED TO MEET THE INTENT AND PERFORMANCE CRITERIA OF OSHA, AS WELL
AS ANY OTHER ENTITY THAT HAS JURISDICTION FOR EXCAVATION AND/OR
TRENCHING PROCEDURES.
8. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING ADEQUATE
SAFEGUARDS, SAFETY DEVICES, PROTECTIVE EQUWMENT, FLAGGERS, AND ANY
OTHER NEEDED ACTIONS TO PROTECT THE LIFE, HEALTH, AND SAFETY OF THE
PUBLIC, AND TO PROTECT PROPERTY IN CONNECTION WITH THE PERFORMANCE
OF WORK COVERED BY THE CONTRACTOR. ANY WORK WITHIN THE TRAVELED
RIGHT-OF-WAY THAT MAY INTERRUPT NORMAN. TRAFFIC FLOW SHALL REQUIRE AT
LEAST ONE FLAGGER FOR EACH LANE OF TRAFFIC AFFECTED.
9. PROTECTIVE MEASURES SHALL BE TAKEN BY THE CONTRACTOR TO PROTECT
ADJACENT PROPERTIES, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE, AT ALL TIMES DUNNING
CONSTRUCTION. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROTECTION OF
ALL EXISTING UTILITY SERVICES THAT ARE TO REMAIN OPERATIONAL. WITHIN THE
CONSTRUCTION AREA WHETHER SHOWN OR NOT SHOWN ON THE PIANS
10. TWO (2) COPIES OF THESE APPROVED PLANS MUST BE ON THE JOB SITE
WHENEVER CONSTRUCTION IS IN PROGRESS; ONE (1) SET SHALL BE SUBMITTED
TO BARGHAUSEN CONSULTING ENGINEERS., INC., WITH RECORDS OF AS -BUILT
INFORMATION AT COMPLETION OF PROJECT.
11. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE FULLY RESPONSE FOR OBTAINING PERMITS FROM THE
WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES FOR REMOVING AND
REPLACING ALL SURVEY IMONLI MENTATION THAT MAY BE AFFECTED BY
CONSTRUCTION ACTMTY, PURSUANT TO WAC 332-120. APPLICATIONS MUST BE
COMPLETED BY A REGISTERED LAND SURVEYOR. APPLICATIONS FOR PERMITS TO

STARTING NEW CONSTRUCTION. IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO SECURE ALL
NECESSARY PERMITS PRIOR TO STARTING CONSTRUCTION. (INSPECTION WILL BE ACCOMPLISHED BY
A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE CITY OF RENTON.) IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO
NOTIFY THE PUBLIC WORKS INSPECTOR 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF BACKFILLING ALL
CONSTRUCTION.
5. CONTRACTOR IS SOLELY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MEMS, METHODS AND SEQUENCES OF
CONSTRUCTION AND FOR THE SAFETY OF WORKERS AND OTHERS ON THE CONSTRUCTION SITE.
6. IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO OBTAIN STREET USE AND ANY OTHER
RELATED PERMITS PRIOR TO ANY CONSTRUCTION.
7. PLANS APPROVED BY THE CITY OF RENTON, PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT SHALL TAKE
PRECEDENCE OVER ALL OTHER PLANS.
8. A COPY OF THESE APPROVED PLANS MUST BE ON THE JOB SITE WHENEVER CONSTRUCTION IS IN
PROGRESS.
9. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE THE CITY OF RENTON WITH AN AS -BUILT DRAINING OF THE
SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM, WHICH HAS BEEN STAMPED AND S"D BY A LICENSED PROFESSIONAL
ENGINEER OR LICENSED PROFESSIONAL SURVEYOR.
10. BACKFILL SHALL BE PLACED EQUALLY ON BOTH SIDES OF THE PIPE IN LAYERS WITH A LOOSE
AVERAGE DEPTH OF 6 INCHES, MAXIMA DEPTH OF 8 INCHES, THOROUGHLY TAMPING EACH
LAYER TO 95 PERCENT OF MAXIMUM DENSITY. THESE COMPACTED LAYERS MUST EXTEND FOR
ONE PIPE DIAMETER ON EACH SIDE OF THE PIPE OR TO THE SIDE OF THE TRENCH. MATERIALS
TO COMPLETE THE FILL OVER PIPE SHALL BE THE SAME AS DESCRIBED.
11. OPEN CUT ROAD CROSSINGS FOR UTILITY TRENCHES ON EXISTING TRAVELED ROADWAY SHALL BE
BACKFILLED WITH CRUSHED ROCK AND MECHANICALLY COMPACTED UNLESS OTHERWISE APPROVED
BY UTILITY SPECIFICATIONS.
12. DATUM FOR VERTICAL CONTROL SHALL BE NORTH AMERICAN VERTICAL DATUM 1968 METERS, AND
FOR HORIZONTAL CONTROL SHALL BE NORTH AFRICAN DATUM 1963/1991 METERS UNLESS
OTHERWISE APPROVED BY THE CITY OF RENTON PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT. REFERENCE
BENCHMARK AND ELEVATIONS ARE NOTED ON THE PLANS.
13. ALL DISTUR13ED AREAS SHALL BE SEEDED AND MULCHED OR OTHERWISE STABILIZED TO THE
SATISFACTION OF THE DEPARTMENT FOR THE PREVENTION OF ON-SITE EROSION AFTER THE
COMPLETION OF CONSTRUCTION.
14. ALL PIPE AND APPURTENANCES SHALL BE LAID ON A PROPERLY PREPARED FOUNDATION IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CITY OF RENTON
PLANNING/BUILDING/PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT AND THE LATEST EDITION OF THE WSDOT/APWA
STAND AND SPECIFICATIONS, AS APPROVED AND MODIFIED BY THE CITY OF RENTON IN THE
RENTON STANDARD PLANS & SPECIFICATIONS. THIS SHALL INCLUDE NECESSARY LEVELING OF THE
TRENCH BOTTOM OR THE TOP OF THE FOUNDATION MATERIAL, AS WELL AS PLACEMENT AND
COMPACTION OF REQUIRED BEDDING MATERIAL, TO UNIFORM GRADE SO THAT THE ENTRE LENGTH
OF THE PIPE WILL BE SUPPORTED ON A UNIFORMLY DENSE, UNYIELDING BASE. PIPE BEDDING
SHALL BE PEA GRAVEL 6 RHES ABOVE AND BELOW THE PIPE.
15. SANITARY SEWER PIPE SHALL BE POLYVINYL CHLORIDE (PVC) RUBBER GASKETED ASTM D 3034,
SDR 35, 0R DUCTILE IRON CLASS 50, UNLESS OTHER APPROVED BY THE WASTEWATER
UTILITY.
16. IN UNIMPROVED AREAS, (MANHOLE TO EXTEND MINIM Mi 6 INCHES AND MAXIMUM 12 INCHES
ABOVE FISHED GRADE OR MUST HAVE MINIMUM 2' DIAMETER CONCRETE RING POURED AT

8. GRASS SEED MAY BE APPLIED BY HYDROSEEDING. THE GRASS SEED MIXTURE, OTHER THAN CITY
OF RENTON APPROVED STANDARD MiIxES, SHALL BE SUBMITTED BY A LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT AND
APPROVED BY THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, SURFACE WATER UTILITY SECTION.
9. ALL PIPE AND APPURTENANCES SHALL BE LAID ON A PROPERLY PREPARED FOUNDATION IN
ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 7-02.3(1) OF THE CURRENT STATE OF WASHINGTON STANDARD
SPECIFICATION FOR ROAD AND BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION. THIS SHALL INCLUDE NECESSARY LEVELING
OF THE TRENCH BOTTOM OR THE TOP OF THE FOUNDATION MATERIAL, AS WELL AS PLACEMENT
AND COMPACTION OF REQUIRED BEDDMIG MATERIAL, TO UNIFORM GRADE SO THAT THE ENTIRE
LENGTH OF THE PIPE WILL BE SUPPORTED ON A UWORMLY DENSE, UNYIELDING BASE. ALL PIPE

11. STRUCTURES SHALL NOT BE PERMITTED WITHIN 10 FEET OF THE SPRING LINE OF ANY STORM
DRAINAGE PIPE, OR 15 FEET FROM THE TOP OF ANY CHANNEL BANK.
12. ALL CATCH BASIN GRATES SMALL BE DEPRESSED 0.10 FEET BELOW PAVEMENT LEVEL.
13. OPEN CUT ROAD CROSSINGS THROUGH EXISTING PUBLIC RIGHT OF WAY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED
UNLESS SPECIFICALLY APPROVED BY CITY OF RENTON PLANNING/BUILDING/PUBLIC WOKS
ADMINISTRATOR.
14. ROCK FOR EROSION PROTECTION OF ROADSIDE DITCHES, WHERE REQUIRED, SMALL BE OF
SOUND QUARRY ROCK PLACED TO A DEPTH OF ONE (1) FOOT AND MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING
SPECIFICATIONS:
4 - 8 ITCH ROCK / 40 - 70% PASSING;
2 - 4 INCH ROCK / 30 - 40% PASSING; AND
LESS THAN 2 INCH ROCK / 10 - 20% PASSING.
15. ALL BUILDING DOWNSPOUTS AND FOOTING DRAINS SHALL BE CONNECTED TO THE STORM(
DRAINAGE SYSTEM, UNLESS AP'PROV'ED BY THE CITY PLAN REVIEWER OR SURFACE WATER UTILITY
SECTION. AN ACCURATELY DIMENSIONED, CERTIFIED AS -BUILT DRAWING OF THIS DRAINAGE
SYSTEM WILL BE SUBMITTED TO THE CITY UPON COMPLETION.
16. ISSUANCE OF THE BUILDING OR CONSTRUCTION PERMITS BY THE CITY OF RENTON DOES NOT
RELIEVE THE OWNER OF THE CONTINIUNNG LEGAL OBLIGATION AND/OR LMLITY CONNECTED WITH
STORM SURFACE WATER DISPOSITION. FURTHER, THE CITY OF RENTON DOES NOT ACCEPT ANY
OBLIGATION FOR THE PROPER FUNCTIONING AND MAINTENANCE OF THE SYSTEM PROVIDED
DURING CONSTRUCTION.
17. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING ADEQUATE SAFEGUARD, SAFETY
DEVICES, PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT, FLAGGERS, AND ANY OTHER NEEDED ACTIONS TO PROTECT
THE LIFE, HEALTH, AND SAFETY OF THE PUBLIC, AND TO PROTECT PROPERTY IN CONNECTION
WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF WORK COVERED BY THE CONTRACT. ANY WORK WITHIN THE
TRAVELED RIGHT OF WAY THAT MAY
INTERRUPT NORMAL TRAFFIC FLOW SHALL REQUIRE A TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN APPROVE BY THE
PUBIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS DIVISION. ALL SECTIONS OF THE
WSDOT STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS 1-07-23 TRAFFIC CONTROL SHALL APPLY.
18. SPECIAL DRAINAGE MEASURES WILL BE REQUIRED IF THE PROJECT LOCATION IS WITHIN THE

PAVEMENTS TRENCH BACKFILL AND GENERAL EXCAVATION WILL BE
ACCOMPLISHED BY A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE OWNER. IT SHALL BE THE
CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO NOTIFY THE INSPECTOR 24 HOURS IN
ADVANCE OF BACKFILLING ALL CONSTRUCTION.
6. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PRIOR TO ANY CONSTRUCTION OR DEVELOPMENT
ACTMTY CONTACT THE AGENCY AND/OR UTI-ITY INSPECTION PERSON04EL AND
ANY REOLARED PRE -CONSTRUCTION MEETING(S). CONTRACTOR SHALL
PROVIDE 72 HRS MIN ADVANCE NOTIFICATION TO OWNER, FIELD ENGINEER AND
ENGINEER OF PRE -CONSTRUCTION MEETINGS.
7. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR WORKER AND SITE SAFETY AND SHALL
COMPLY WITH THE LATEST OSHA STANDARDS AND REGULATIONS, OR ANY OTHER
AGENCY HAVING JURISDICTION FOR EXCAVATION AND TRENCHING PROCEDURES.
THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR DETERMINING THE "MEANS AND METHODS"
REQUIRED TO MEET THE INTENT AND PERFORMANCE CRITERIA OF OSHA, AS WELL
AS ANY OTHER ENTITY THAT HAS JURISDICTION FOR EXCAVATION AND/OR
TRENCHING PROCEDURES.
8. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING ADEQUATE
SAFEGUARDS, SAFETY DEVICES, PROTECTIVE EQUWMENT, FLAGGERS, AND ANY
OTHER NEEDED ACTIONS TO PROTECT THE LIFE, HEALTH, AND SAFETY OF THE
PUBLIC, AND TO PROTECT PROPERTY IN CONNECTION WITH THE PERFORMANCE
OF WORK COVERED BY THE CONTRACTOR. ANY WORK WITHIN THE TRAVELED
RIGHT-OF-WAY THAT MAY INTERRUPT NORMAN. TRAFFIC FLOW SHALL REQUIRE AT
LEAST ONE FLAGGER FOR EACH LANE OF TRAFFIC AFFECTED.
9. PROTECTIVE MEASURES SHALL BE TAKEN BY THE CONTRACTOR TO PROTECT
ADJACENT PROPERTIES, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE, AT ALL TIMES DUNNING
CONSTRUCTION. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PROTECTION OF
ALL EXISTING UTILITY SERVICES THAT ARE TO REMAIN OPERATIONAL. WITHIN THE
CONSTRUCTION AREA WHETHER SHOWN OR NOT SHOWN ON THE PIANS
10. TWO (2) COPIES OF THESE APPROVED PLANS MUST BE ON THE JOB SITE
WHENEVER CONSTRUCTION IS IN PROGRESS; ONE (1) SET SHALL BE SUBMITTED
TO BARGHAUSEN CONSULTING ENGINEERS., INC., WITH RECORDS OF AS -BUILT
INFORMATION AT COMPLETION OF PROJECT.
11. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE FULLY RESPONSE FOR OBTAINING PERMITS FROM THE
