CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
RESOLUTION NO. 2273
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATIONS FOR FUNDING
ASSISTANCE FOR AN OUTDOOR RECREATION PROJECT TO THE
INTERAGENCY COMMITTEE FOR OUTDOOR RECREATION AS
PROVIDED BY THE MARINE RECREATION LAND ACT, AS RELATE&
TO ACQUISITION OF PARK;Sr E PROPERTIES.
WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Renton has approved
a "Comprehensive Park and Recreation Plan" for the city which identifies
a Community Park on the southeastern tip of Lake Washington as the number
one priority; and
WHEREAS under the provisions of the Marine REcreation Land
Act, state and federal funding assistance has been authorized and made
available to aid in financing the cost of land for parks and the construction
of outdoor recreational facilities of local public bodies; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Renton considers it
in the best public interest to acquire and develop a Community Park generally
located on the southeastern tip of Lake Washington west of Lake Washington
Boulevard; NOW THEREFORE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I: That the above recitals are found to be true and
correct.
SECTION II: That the Mayor be authorized to make formal application
to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation for fund assistance.
SECTION III: That any fund assistance so received be used in the
acquisition of property located adjacent to and east of the City of Renton's Gene
Coulon Memorial Beach Park located on the southeastern tip of Lake Washington in
the City of Renton.
SECTION IV: That any property acquired with financial aid through
the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation be placed in use as an outdoor
recreation facility and be retained in such use in perpetuity unless as otherwise
provided and agreed to by the City Council, the Interagency Committee for Outdoor
Recreation and any affected federal agency.

SECTION V: That this Resolution become part of a formal application
to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation.
