HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 2176 r ► • CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO . 2176 WHEREAS the City of Renton has heretofore submitted unto the King County Law and Justice Plan its recommendation for the year 1979 , all pursuant to the Interlocal Planning Agreement among various municipal corporations boated in King County, Washington and WHEREAS said proposal has been duly approved by the King County Law and Justice Planning Committee and the King County Council, and WHEREAS said proposed program will be of substantial and lasting benefit to the general public and assist in the reduction of crime and also increase the effectiveness of the local law enforcement system, and WHEREAS said proposal has been duly considered and studied and its adoption being in the public interest and for the public benefit, NOW THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I: The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into an appropriate agreement with the State Law and Justice Planning Office for said named projects, copies of which are attached hereto and incorporated herein as if fully set forth, and to execute any and all other documents reasonably necessary to implement andout such plan. P carry The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to forward a true copy of this Resolution to the King County Law and Justice Planning Office and such other governmental agencies as required by law. W./ en, City At t• PROGRAM SYNOPSIS BURGLARY PREVENTION and DETECTION SUPPORT This LEAA Grant will provide the formal training and equipment necessary for the attainment of comprehensive crime prevention programs. As of August 1977, the Renton Police Department has implemented a formal Crime Prevention Unit, staffed by one full time and three part-time officers. Further, the Department has availed itself of all local crime prevention training to the end that these four officers are now graduates of the State Training Commission's two-week Crime Prevention School. The attendance of one or more of these officers at the National Crime Prevention Institute, will substantially increase the capability of the Renton Police Department to properly address this critical area. Grant Budget: 1) National Crime Prevention Institute University of Louisville Louisville, Kentucky $ 2,000.00 2) Portable Intrusion Alarms - 7 each $ 6,625.00 3) Audio-Visual Training Aids $ 7,236.00 Budget Total $ 15,861.00 Source of Funds: Federal (LEAA) $ 14,275.00 = 90% State Buy-In $ 793.00 = 57 Local Cash Match $ 793.00 = 57, $ 15,861.00 = 100% • • PROGRAM SYNOPSIS FIELD INVESTIGATION TECHNICAL SUPPORT This LEAA Grant is designed to provide the Renton Police Department with a fully comprehensive "In-House & Field" reporting and recovery system. Our present dictation equipment is inadequate, in that the quantity of our reports have far outgrown our capability to recover and dissim- inate information in a timely fashion. The planned system will eleviate this critical problem, and will provide the department with the potential for further expansion as the need arises. Grant Budget: 1) Multiple Cassette Recorder, 2 each 2) Cassette Transcriber, 4 each 3) Dictation Input Unit, Permanent Station, 3 each 4) Dictation Input Unit, Portable, 15 each 5) Distribution Panel, 1 each 6) Recorder Coupler, Cassettes, Installation, etc. Budget Total $ 13,500.00 Source of Funds: Federal (LEAA) $ 12,150.00 = 90% State Buy-In $ 675.00 = 5% Local Cash Match $ 675.00 = 5% $ 13,500.00 = 100%
