JJ I CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 2182 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATIONS FOR FUNDING ASSISTANCE FOR AN OUTDOOR RECHATION PROJECT TO THE INTERAGENCY COMMITTEE FOR OUTDOOR RECREATION AS PROVIDED BY THE MARINE RECRDATION LAND ACT WHEREAS the City Council of the City of Renton has approved a "Comprehensive Park and Recreation Plan" for the city which identifies as a high priority the acquisition and development of a trail system along the Cedar River from the mouth of Lake Washington to the proposed King County Cedar River Regional Park; and WHEREAS under the provisions of the Marine Recreation Land Act, state and federal funding assistance has been authorized and made available to aid in financing the cost of land for parks and the construction of outdoor recreational facilities of local public bodies ; and WHEREAS the acquisition and development of the following described real property (See Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part hereof as if fully set forth herein) is part of the City of Renton Community Development Plan; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Renton considers it in the best public interest to acquire and develop a trail system from the mouth of Lake Washington to the proposed King County Cedar River Regional Park; and WHEREAS that portion of the trail system from the mouth of Lake Washington to the Bronson Street Bridge is currently under construction; NOW THEREFORE THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON, DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I: That the above recitals are found to be true and correct. SECTION II ; That the Mayor be authorized to make formal application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation !!fl a for fund assistance. • SECTION III ; That any fund assistance so received be used in the acquisition of property contiguous to the Cedar River between FAI-405 and a 24 acre marsh area, against which the City has initiated condemnation proceedings . SECTION IV: That any property acquired with financial aid through the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation be placed in use as an outdoor recreation facility and be retained in such use in perpetuity unless as otherwise provided and agreed to by the City Council, the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation and any affected federal agency. SECTION V: That this Resolution become part of a formal application to the Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation. PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL this 1st day of May, 1978 . Delores .
