HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 2060 177 CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON RESOLUTION NO. 2060 WHEREAS concerned area citizens have expressed an active interest in the appropriate naming of a new Washington State ferry; and WHEREAS it is considered to be in the public interest and for the public benefit to name a new Washington State ferry "ISSAQUAH" , and such name having been duly documented to be of Indian origin and an earlier, privately-owned ferry having been so named, and WHEREAS such name would be of historic sign -licence. and: be particularly appropriate in this Bicentennial year, NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RENTON DC RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS : SECTION I : The City Council hereby requests that the Washington State Highway Commission give due consideration to the naming of the new ferry "ISSAQUAH" in historic recognition of a prior ferry so named.
