CITY OF RENTON, WASHINGTON
RESOLUTZON N0. ; ���
WHE.REAS the Legislative Districts of the State of Washington
have heretofore been redist.ricted by Judicial decree, and
WHEREAS as a resul`t� of� such determination the City of Renton
and i:ts environs have been divided and spli.t into two or more legislative
districts, primarily consisting of por-tions of Districts No . 11 and 41
and
WHEREAS, such division and separation is no� in the best interest
of the City of Renton and its ci.tizens and those person,s residi.ng within
the immediate environs of the City, and
WHEREAS it has heretofore been determined and is hereby confirmed
by the City of Renton that all of the persons residing within the
Greater Renton Area have certain common economic, soci.al, cultural and
like interests and ties and that same should all be contained in one
single legislative district, and
WHEREAS any such arbi.trary separation is akin to gerrymandering
and thus detrimental to the best interests of our citizens who are
affected by such action, NOW THEREFQRE
B� IT RESOLVED BY'giE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RENTON, AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION I: The above findings and reci.tals are hereby found
to be . true and correct. in all respects .
SECTION II : The City of Renton, by thi.s action, hereby
requests the next Legisla-tive Session of the State of Washington to
take immediate cognizance of -the above si�tuation and to take all prompt
and Speedy action, as permitted by law, to remedy and correct the
district boundaries so as to place the City of Renton and its immediate
environs within one, single, legislative district.

authorized and di.rected to forward certi.fied copies of thi.s Resolution
unto the appropria�e offic�.ls of the State of Washington Senate and
House of Represen,tatives � well as the Secretary of State, the Office
of the Governor,. and like officials having jurisdiction or an i.nterest
in and to the aforementioned maiter.
