WHEREAS the City of Renton heretofore passed and � ���

approved Resolution No. 1616 in compliance with Sections 5 and 6 �j��
of King County Resolution No . 34569 , and
WHEREAS the City of Renton desires to proceed with
certain Forward Thrust Arterial improvement projects and the funding
therefore to be provided from Forward Thrust bond issues , and
WHEREAS since the ado�Otion of King County Resolution No.
34569 certain project needs have beeri modified and amended, and
WHEREAS Sections 5 and 6 of King County Resolution No .
34569 permit and authorize such amendm:ents and modificiations and
in order to bring said projects current, NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF RENTON AS FOLLOWS :
SE�CT"I"ON I : �� The above recitals and facts are hereby found
to be true and correct in all respects . City of Renton Resolution
No. 1616 is hereby further amended and modified so as to bring the
projects specified in King County Resolution No. 34569 up to date
and current, to-wit:
l. Item 1 of Resolution No. 1616 re N. 3rd and N. 4th St.
one-way couplet from Logan Avenue N. to Sunset Blvd. N.
Explariat 'ion: This project encompasses and eliminates
projects 4 and .33 and modifies projects 7 , 12 , 15 , 24 , 34 and 35 of
King County Resolution No. 34569 . Said project includes work which
would have been provided by other Forward Thrust Issue Projects at
� 3rd and Logan, 4th and Logan, 3rd and Wells, 4th and Wells , 3rd and
Williams , 4th and Williams , 3rd and Park, 4th and Park, 4th and Garden,
3rd and Houser, and 3rd and Sunset.
Matching funds for the N. 3rd and N. 4th St. one-way
couplet would cover increased construction costs incurred on the
project beyond those provided by the State Urban Arterial Board and
existing City funding.

2. Item 3 of Resolution No. 1616 re S. W. Grady Way from
S. W. lOth St. and Lind Avenue S. W. formerly called 87th Avenue S.
overcrossing.

Explanat'ion: This project is/approved Urban Arterial
Board project which will provide access to and from the Earlington
Industrial Park and will relieve problems in the construction of a
Forward Thrust project King County Resolution No. 34569 Item 20
"S 7th St. from S. Grady Way to Edwards Str.eet" .
Matching funds will be needed to. cover increased costs
anticipated on this project beyond those provided by the State Urban
Arterial Board and those available from local participation.
3 . Item 7 of Resolution No. 1616 re Houser Way S. from
Main Avenue S. to Houser Way N. at Bronson Way N.
Explanation: Th�:s project include�s, replaces and
extends project No. 9 of King County Resolution No . 34569 re "Main
Avenue S. Transition to Mill Ave. S. " . This is extremely necessary
to provide for the improvement of a very poor existing traffic
facility. Overall funding for this project has not been completed
but it is anticipated only partial funding will be required from
�'orward Thrust Bond Issue Funds.
4. Item 14 of Resolution No . 1616 re "N. 5th St. from
B�rnett Ave. N. to Garden Ave. N. "
Explanation: This project include� intersections
which were programmed under projects 7 , 24 , 34 and 35 of Resolution
No. 34569 , including the intersections at N. 5th and Garden, N. 5th
and Wells , N. 5th and Williams, and N. 5th and Park. The project
also includes drainage essential to the future construction of other
projects.
Full funding program for this project has not been
completed but only a portion of the funds will be anticipated from
the Forward Thrust Bond Issue.
5 . Item 15 of Resolution No. 1616 re Edmonds Avenue S. E .
from Puget Drive S. E. to S. City Limits.
E"xpl�anat 'ion: This work includes an intersection of
project No. 10, King County Resolution No . 34569 , "Puget Drive from

Talbot Road to pipeline right-of-way" at Puget Drive and Edmonds ''
Ave. S. E. The overall project is expected to be construct ed with
1/2� gas tax funds but some funding will be required from the Forward
Thrust Bond Issue.
6 . Item 36 of Resolution No. 1616 re S . W. 43rd St. from
West Valley Road to Talbot Road S.
Explanat'ion: This project (formerly S. 180th) has
been added as extensive changes in this street are anticipated due ,
to the construction of the "Orillia Bridge" and other improvement
projects in the immediate vicinity.
Overall funding has not :been determined but it is
anticipated that Forward Thrust Funds will be required.
The "Orillia Bridge" being constructed by the City
of Tukwila with the aid of Urban Arterial and Forward Thrust funds �

and on a participating bas�s by the Cities of Renton and Tukwila. �
SECTI�ON II : Due to the foregoing modifications , changes �
and amendments the following projects listed in King County
Resolution No. 34569 should therefore be deleted, to-wit: ,

Project 9 . Main Avenue S. Transition to Mill Ave . S . '
